A pair of side cutters or lineman pliers work faster in my opinion.

    Well explained and demonstrated.
I’m surprised hardly anyone uses hand held screw drivers anymore. I must be getting old 🙄

ive got a series 99 panic/crush with a 7500 mortise casset and 996 trim. Does the cylinder just rotate out of the trim after the set screws are losened? It seemed the cylinder was holding the trim on. I dont think I actually have a hole/screw where you did to remove the cylinder.

If everything is lined up correctly on a mortise panic then yes once you loosen the cylinder set screw in the cassette then the cylinder should just spin out.

You’ll need to order a replacement dogging kit. They’re made of plastic or nylon, and tend to wear down over time. A common problem.

Ok have a Q? Is that not a KNOX BOX on the Latch Side of the door. Where's the FD key to that box. Then you have a service key to that door. Because that's a FD CONNECTION & Fire Sprinkler System.
Now that you've changed that lock the FD can't get access to the sprinkler system.

Why not have used a bypass driver? Or broken the pin and unscrewed the cylinder?
Drilling is my last resort after I’ve failed picking, bypassing and sheering the pin on the side

Attention new guys...be careful using drills or drivers with door hardware. It is very easy to strip or cross thread these screws. I have been doing commercial door hardware for years and I still always use just a screwdriver on most screws especially those in the trim.
