Your brutally honest dressage coach is a breath of fresh air. Tells it like it is and immediate changes to your new horse. By the end she was moving like a different way

I really like your coach. He makes you work hard but the results are so rewarding. He really knows what he's doing & has helped you to take your riding to a whole other level. And though it's exhausting, it will get easier as you & Wilma both get stronger.

“Quit fiddling with the bit. I know you’re an eventer but we don’t do eventer dressage here.” I love him. We do see a lot of eventers that seesaw the bit to get the head down.

Rich gave so much effective feedback and you could definitely see it coming through in your riding and Wilma’s going. I shall be watching over and over to take away insights for my riding! Thanks to you both (and Wilma of course).

Even with how humble and respectable Meg is it’s so refreshing seeing a lesson with an instructor like Rich. I sometimes think we tend to lose ourselves in this sport when it comes to popularity, wealth, talent and connections. Meg is an absolute person who I think is more than a role model to us all and even then having an instructor like Rich just shows us no matter how humble you are there will always be someone there to remind you that the same ring you became talented in is the same ring you learned in. It can take years to find the right instructor for you and your horse but it takes a special kind of instructor that can talk trash to you in a loving way that helps you learn instead of talking trash and breaking you down. Everyone needs a Rich in their life ❤️

Well that was pretty damn complimentary from Rich! Wilma is definitely going to be getting some lovely dressage scores when she’s built up some muscle to carry herself more.

I'm 20 minutes into this vlog and wow Wilma has such an amazing attitude!! Picking up something somewhat new to her which will be challenging as she's young and not a tail swish or a buck or anything!! Ardeo have done a fantastic job with her and her attitude is one of a kind she is so switched on and willing! Super impressed with her Meggy! She is beautiful just needs to build some strength and suppleness which will come easier to her as she continues to mature. Wilma really is lovely!!
She’s just got such a lovely polite approach to everything, always listening and trying to please. Conscientious little girlie, she is.

Getting the long and low at the end was lovely. Tons of transitions, half voltaires with change of rein all over the whole school, pole work, and lots of hacking, she will be a super star.
You really have a treasure in Rich as an instructor! But, you should give yourself a pat on the back, too, for following his instructions so ably! Watching this was an absolute delight. The change in Wilma from the start of the video to the end of it was wonderful to see. You have a really fine young mare, there.
Hi Meg, your savage instructor Rich is a real gem ❤ he reminds me of my riding instructor, brutaly honest, sharp eye and a real feel for horses. They are rare to find and although I can honestly say that I hate my instructor at times 😂 she has taught me so much. She is also my best friend which almost makes it worse 😅 I can't wait to see more of you and Wilma, she is beautiful and she did so well. Thanks Meg and Rich for sharing this video ❤
Rich is my absolute fave of all the people you have on. You have lots of nice people advise you but Rich’s directness and “bite” is a cut above. He takes both you and your horses so much further down the road. The improvement is so obvious. And he is so sharp and funny. I just love him. And, like others, I think he should have his own show. Much more of Rich please. You and Wilma have a bright future, Meg. Well done.
So glad to see more of Wilma, and how much more movement she already has been you're being nagged. But really--horses do benefit from the kind of quiet, less demanding work you were doing before when they're new to a place. It's clear she's got more movement to come, when she's stronger. Slow and steady and she'll be looking different in three months and even better in six. When roads aren't icy, those of your hacks out with the long gentle slopes will do really good things for that longer-than-pony back. And of course your pole work. I've learned a lot from watching your pole work.

I love your Trainer....says it as it is. Makes me smile ...im 5ft 1 and always loved big horses with huge stride. My boy is 17.1 which is mad. ..but I jump him happily...obviously we could never do Dressage as i have no leg length...daughter gets on then😅 but i recently rode daughters 14.2...i hate the little stride and feel unsafe😅😅😅nothing in front.😅😅😅 i love Wilma. She looked better at end of lesson. Starting to flex even now. Lovely
The “it” uproar is ridiculous. What a wonderful instructor. Like Meg, I’d not care about something so insignificant when someone is providing such an obviously spot on first lesson. I mean really. Let’s focus on what matters. He has a very clever wit. Enjoy it.

@@rutherose23 Well, it's the off-season and Wilma's the only one who's really in work right now. I'd imagine we'll be seeing a fair bit of Lucinda in the new year when a few of the other ponies are done with their holidays.
@@rutherose23 I don't think Lucinda was ever her 'regular' jumping instructor - just brought in for special training for Badminton (I'd imagine she's very expensive, as well as a distance away and very busy). There doesn't seem to be any sort of personality clash (Lucinda was there supporting Meg at Badminton and appears to think very highly of her, given that she put Meg on Marley for a demo) and they used Marley for DD.

Even I, with my limited riding under trainer when I was a child that ended 6 years ago (completely, no horses for me now, unfortunately) can see immediate differences on Wilma. Your trainer is amazing, but so are you, because good trainer's instructions are useless without a rider that can work them in practice. Wilma surely looks great with you.

I’m very happy that you have a great trainer to help you. I really like how he’s telling you to keep her loose. When I’ve seen videos of dressage horses in the past they always look like they’re in pain. Wilma on the other hand does not. She’s so lucky to have you as her owner. 💕 I’m so excited to watch you and her progress together!
