No it wasn't about technique...it was about her being arrogant and egoist to the point that she wanted to show that what her father taught her was useless thats why Amir was frustrated for a kid being so thankless arrogant to a father.
He wanted her to be a champion no matter what new techniques she learnt but not at a stake of belittling what she learnt from him.
Here not honouring a relationship and being true to it means your ego will surely bring you down.

Fun Fact: This movie was a bigger hit in China than in India. Some kind of women's movement was going on in China during the time of Dangal's release and somehow the movie gained a lot of traction in China
Nope. You’re wrong. This movie was a HUGE hit in China and the reason why it was so famous was because millions of Chinese parents and kids related to the story of the characters. Like Indians, Chinese people also prioritized boys once upon a time and it made them realize that girls aren’t inferior to boys. 3 Idiots and Dangal as well as Secret Superstar were huge hits in China because people related to the story. Not because some women empowerment campaign was going on…
@@kads8612 you are partly correct and partly wrong. Familial bond is a very asian thing. It's not just India and China but whole of Asia that has a similar relationship between parents and children. Talking about the feminist movement I guess you are not aware about it but new legislations regarding domestic violence against women was a hot topic when dangal first came in China. Later even lot of Chinese film enthusiasts have claimed how the movement got a boost because of the movie and how the movie got a boost because of the movement in China. You will find even videos of Chinese youtubers explaining the phenomenon of dangal's success in India. So without knowing the entire thing don't just tell someone they are wrong. First research then point fingers

Actually, it was about the philosophy of the way of life of a wrestler , not about the technique. Geeta, after leaving the father's nest, got distracted from the path. Going astray, less dedication, breathing wrestling..these were the actual things that made the father worried.

I have seen the film more than ten times and I still enjoy every minute of it. It is a masterpiece of Indian cinema in recent years, another level.

You got the father's part totally wrong here. It's remarkable of how far sighted he was in those times. Plus, becoming a wrestler one has to leave so many things and make multiple sacrifices. I am around that area so I can tell how hard, strict their diet and routine is.
And at last, movie was portraying how arrogant had geeta become instead of being humble.
father behaviors, words (as translated to best editor could, as there are nuances ) shouldn't be compared to this age and date. That was a different time.
