Thank you for uploading this recording of the third day of the Brisbane Cricket Test match, which we all got to only hear on Radio back in those years. The Television came along only around the New Delhi Asian Games for us in India. A couple of observations I would like to make here:
    1. Chandra was always my favorite Bowler, because I too bowled Leg-Spin-Googlies and Top Spinners. However, watching him in this recording makes me feel that while we listened to the Radio Commentators only, how much of their skills were overtly or covertly enhanced with the articulation of the greats Anant Setalvad, Susheel Doshi, Dicky Ratnagar, Jasdev Singh, and many more... I couldn't recognize the Aussie Commentarors, but I put on my headphones when one of them was saying "Off Break" for Chandra's Googlies! LOL...
    2. Bishen Singh Bedi looked pretty ordinary, maybe that's the big difference we can see and learn from watching on TV and hearing them only on Radio earlier. His Flighted balls were famously made deceptive for greatest of batsmen to get out because of Bedi's clever loops and beating the batsmen in the air. However, in this match that didn't seem like happening.
    3. Madan Lal has always been a great fighter, and his Bowling action was also deceptive because he ran in quickly and bowled at half pace, just like Mohinder Amarnath did.
    4. Erapalli Anant Rao Srinivas Prasanna was also not at his best in this match, somehow. I'd love to watch his 8-Wicket Haul bowling spell!

So much to enjoy about this. One of my first cricketing memories was watching Bob Simpson seeming to have infinite time to play leg glances against India in this series. Love Kirmani's sportsmanship. Clapping Thommo's sixes. So many Aussie players who never seemed to go on to bigger things, most notably no Kim Hughes or Graham Yallop in this batting line up.

Superb. From commentary box. "Madan Lal seems to have same runup as Jeff Thomson to bowl at half the speed"
"He seems to be spending more energy in runup than actual bowling"

This series is closer to the Bradman era than the Steve Smith/Michael Clarke era.
They could play an entire series with only a couple of 6s hit back then, the occasional drizzle and bad light stopped play often. Batsmen grinding out runs at a painfully slow rate compared to nowadays, bowlers going for barely more than 2 runs per over, can you imagine watching this in the modern t20 era where they hit a couple of 4s or 6s every over? And yet I would choose this over t20 any day.

Thanks for uploading the video. Eagerly awaiting the video of breathtaking 4th days play when Gavaskar scored century and India unfortunately fell short of only 16 runs. The test was no less exciting than the 1960 tie test. In the final analysis Thommo's whirlwind knock of 41 made all the difference.

Great uploads Jai! So clear as well! Brings back memories of my first test that I went to with my father - SCG test with Sunny, Jimmy Amarnath and the plundering Kris Srikkanth running riot! Few years after this. Any chance of getting the Melbourne or Perth tests from the 1977/78 Summer? Really enjoyed the SCG and Gabba ones - many more big names on Indian side but Aussies put up a great show...Great contests...loved watching Chandra bowl...perfect foil to Bedi

Madan Lal was a real comic. For the length of the run up to bowl , what he delivered was a fast offspin 🤣🤣🤣 😏 🇮🇳

It's fascinating to see just how quick Chandra was. Very little loop or flight. He really pushed it through. Difficult to pick the length, I should have thought, unless really short and, as a batsman, you really needed to be getting forward

Watching Bob Simpson on colour TV us kind if surreal given that hus team mates included Richie Benaud, Alan Davidson, Neil Harvey, Ray Lindwall and Colin McDonald. While his opponents included Jim Laker, Godfrey Evans, Peter May, Ted Dexter, Fred Trueman and Brian Statham.
