Squarebody trucks quite frankly are timeless. Whether it be a beat-up farm truck, or a completely custom 12" lifted SEMA build, there's no doubt that the 1973-1987 Chevy squarebody trucks have one thing - character. In the past decade, we've noticed a growing affinity towards these trucks, in a similar sense as OBS Fords, especially amongst younger teens and adults, many of who weren't even born at the height of the trucks' popularity. In today's video, we're diving deep to figure out where the love for squarebodies came from in this comprehensive guide about squarebody trucks.

My first vehicle ever was an 82 K5 Blazer and is still my daily driver 10 years later. There’s a common respect and camaraderie when you drive down the road in yours and see another squarebody. It is hands down the most iconic body style out there and has one of the most supportive and diverse followings you will find.

Love these videos mang. Im feeling pretty good about my 1985 chevy crew cab 4x4 dually camper special barn find. The story in its self would blow any square body junkies mind. Long story short and being a service plumber i merly asked the home owner if he had any old chevy small blocks laying around for i was wanting to build a motor with my teenage son. And he replied “yeah i have a 454”, and i then replied do you have a tractor or anything to load it into the back of my truck. He then replied “ no you have to take the whole thing”. Being confused i then said whole thing? He then pointed out to the back 40. There she was. Complete running with 93k and 20 k on a rebuild. new trailer breaks and running. Just gave it to me! Very straight with cherried interior. Came back a day later and drove it up onto the flat bed with clean title in hand and the rest is history. This was two years ago. I have since given her a 6”lift with 37” tires and black wheels. Its currently getting a 3/4 restoration to show quality. Stock blue paint with a bit more flak to give it some style. Its blacked out. Super dream find of a lifetime. She will come in at a very nice market price for these are super rare and hardly any for-sale. Only sell though if the price is right, but my son says “ no sale dad”. I said, ok buddy just for now.

Glad I found and Subscribed to this Channel because at 70 I grew up and owned more than one Square Body Chevy and one GMC truck and it's always been my most Favorite. I currently own and drive on occasion a 1985 Chevrolet pickup. It's still pretty much in Mint condition and is never driven in the winter. I prep it for winter storage late each fall and store it in my dry barn. I have partial heat there and do start it on a monthly basis. I put your website in my Favorites although I have never attempted to change anything on my truck other than radial tires. My Love affair with Chevy trucks started in 1971 when I was a senior in High School and my Uncle got me a job running parts for a big Plumbing company. He was the General Manager and he handed me the keys to a Brand Spanking New 1972 Chevy pickup. If old memory serves correctly I think it had a 396 Big Block with three on the tree and no rear bumper as it was an option back then. I have never figured out why any sane adult would give such a truck to an 18 year old Boy other than the fact that he was my Uncle. I received my first ticket with that truck for what the Police called Breaking Traction. I only left burned out tire tracks for a couple hundred feet so what was the big deal. My reward for this was a free ticket to Viet Nam in 1972 but survived it somehow.

Got a 1981 k10 long bed, I’ve owned for just over a year now. Put a built 383 stroker in it, new trans, transfer case, window tint, bed lined the bed, undercoated the undercarriage, brand new interior all the works, speakers, radio, subwoofer, new carpet, new windows/seals, and got a light bar, reverse pods. Bought it for $3,000 in the summer of last year. With 125k miles on it, rust free in Utah. I’ve put 6k into the truck, last thing I have to do is paint it. It’s by far the best truck and coolest thing I own and I’d never get rid of it! Especially being 21 and appreciating the truck and working out at myself I’m very happy with it!

It has a 454 with the sm465 tranny with a gear vendors overdrive unit. It's 100% numbers matching and has just over 73,000 original miles. I bought it from the original owner for $8,500 back in 2008 when I got home from my 1st deployment. The square body has always been my favorite era. They just have so much style and the customization possibilities are endless. These things will always be a favorite in my opinion.

On his deathbed he was sorting out who all his stuff was going to and when it came to his truck he couldn’t give a name bc he didn’t want to imagine it gone. Love my 84 k10! Bought it for $800 twelve years ago and put about 20k into it since then. I've got two suspension setups that I can bolt on depending on what I'm doing. 12" mud kit and a mild 4" street setup.

I have no idea when they changed the name , but these trucks were known as square fender trucks due to the squared off wheel wells . The '67-'72 trucks are round fenders due to the round wheel wells . BTW , power steering was still an option as late as 1975 .

4x4 trucks from the late 70's and early 80's are very kool lifted on 44's with a SBC stroker motor or a Big block.

The square bodies were produced from 1973 through 1991, except 1987 was the last year for the half ton & three quarter ton regular cab pickup models, & 1989 for the one ton regular cab pickup models.

I'm almost done building my 99 gmc sierra 1500 4wd stepside. After I want to get a square body stepside. I had some problems with the superlift 6in kit with bilsten shocks. U bolts where wrong and a few other parts. Wheels and tries are next. 35s tires is what I'm looking for with flush fitment. After new window tin, and stickers for you guy on the back window. Then she will have a photo shoot. Best pictures will be loaded up to your gallery.
