  • Cos I'm A Real Villain....
B side to Smash It Up. Sung by their brilliant drummer, Rat Scabies ( blue jacket). To the best of my knowledge, this is the only song he fronted in the studio with them. Used to think he sung Take Me Away, but that was Billy Karloff. Very similiar.
Rat also sung Wild Thing, and The Anti Nowhere League's So What on stage in '83. Probably a whole bunch of SeX PiSTOls stuff as well. You can only get all this on bootlegs and the like.
New fans of The Damned should check the guy's drumming on New Rose and the Grimly Fiendish B side Edward the Bear.

When you take the vinyl record and push the turntable backwards, you'll hear Scabies growling " Cos I'm a REAL VILLAIN".

@narred Back in the day, I thought it was Scabies imitating Lydon on No Fun ( Pretty Vacant b side ) .

@wuckle Lol! Back in the day, we put our record player on neutral, and pushed the vinyl anti clockwise to hear what he was saying. Wondering if anyone would get where i was coming from.

@horsenation100 Just wish Scabies sung more for them. He's a top drummer.

Any Clash fans? The barking shitter at the end was Paul Simmo's dug. So I was told, and rumour has it the same dog got some "money" for a guest appearance on a Damned song called "The Baarky Fing!", a few years later.

@narred The Damned were my fun band. In the darkest moments of dire teenage Sunday night suburban boredom they always cheered me up. Then I discovered Floyd and hash lol
