  • Memorial Day weekend in Death Valley. 2010 Toyota Tacoma with LEDs ands
    75watt HIDS.
I think the HIDs out shine the LEDs in range and in color. Dont like
    that blue light.

I run factory filament 55w for fog lamps as the heat keeps the snow and ice off. For low beams i use 55 watt 6000k HID's. And for high beams I use 60 watt 6000k LED's. Truck is a 2020 GMC diesel Canyon Denali 4x4 crew cab long box.

Couple of things to consider with both H.I.D and LED.
First off the variables as to types of lighting, spectrum of light, focus of light, and where they're at as far as mounting go all have to be considered.
Your HID lights are great for projection and center of the grill or up above the cab are ideal places for them. Again, size and color will play a key roll in their actual functionality. For example your HID show a lot of hot and cold spots up close but gave you great depth down the trail...
LED, also biggest issues we see is improper mounting of the wrong LED type. What do I mean? I mean there are different types of optics for different speeds of driving, full view, or pencil type focused beams. Then you throw in size and where they're mounted into the mix as variables too.
And to the average individual you would think a light, is a light, is a light, and mounting positions anywhere of convenience should suffice, and optics are part of "design or brand character", that's a false assumption and also why you see so many cheap brands on the market that put virtually nothing into an optic let alone a quality brand LED. They just crank up the LED to run at an over clocked performance level as part of engineered obsolescence.
You really have to look at the total use of the vehicles use and the drivers needs and wants and apply the proper lighting for the job. Just like the right tool for the right job gets the job done right every time. And until you spend some time with someone whose willing to take the time to educate others and work within their needs or a given budget and show them the why's and why nots.. you're just mounting a collaboration of lights of any and all types for the sake of just being [not so] bright or vehicular posing for mall crawling status.
You may for the terrain and use need a combination of different lights from Halogen to HID to LED.. weather and season's are additional variables to consider. Do you get fog where you're at or snow and rain like conditions?
Are you in canyons or forest terrain more so than flat and narrow roads in desert trails? All need to be considered before purchasing and lighting systems as a whole regardless if your picking it up pair at a time or individual components.

I added 2 HID's and it lit up great for off road. It would be nice to add a LED bar maybe a curved one ? Good Video Thanks!
I added a reverse light bright but not expensive or great for the front and it is valuable. Very much by myself.

The racers that run HIDs use a combination of lights. Long range, driving, and fog. Here I'm only runing two 6x9 driving lights. Now if I was running eight 6x9s I could aim the lights for more coverage across the road. My Bronco has 75watt HID KC Dayliters. Two driving beams and two long range. I like them but they do use a lot of power!

@@rudedogii The lights are HID and use that much? I understand halogens use quite a bit , I changed my headlights to HID and bought some Hella 700's used and changed them to HID too. They do not require larger wire just small boxes. I put in a high watt alt in before with a stereo with 2 amps an electric winch and lights. Planning on a second batt. I sadly just lost my Monster Trans within 10 miles of a new engine installed. The lights are great to have off road at night. You do a lot of off road driving

6500k Cree Xhp70 leds for dimmer, 100W halogen projector for upper. Admit it guys, halogens are best for high beam. Hid and Leds only help make it look exotic, no visibility in rough weather

    • @jeremiahlf
      @jeremiahlf Před 7 lety +5

nirav patel Halogen is still pretty decent. Led is "bright" up close with no real distance or contrast. They are too blue. 4000-5000 kelvin hid in a projector at least I believe is still king. Especially if you install higher watt ballasts. I bought a top quality led light bar and I am disappointed. The up close glare is unbearable and the distance isn't much better than stock headlights. I start getting a headache in a few minutes. Glare really isn't usable. Too many people believe that if it's really bright outside the vehicle looking back that it will be good while driving which just isn't true. A well focused halogen is still better than led. People just think the blue colors look neat instead of the yellow halogens. That blue light disappears on wet roads. Led products are cheap to make so they profit more that's it.
