    I worked in the tech field for longer than I care to say. This gentlemen is giving you some pretty good advice.
    In simpler terms... if you buy a new phone/tablet every 1-3 yrs. you should charge it at any speed you see fit but if you keep your device for 4-5+ yrs. you should never fast or wireless charge your device at all.

      My One Plus 10 pro wireless charger has a built in fan at the base of the charger which blows air behind the phone to help remove heat that builds up from the wireless fast charger. Once the phone is charged the charger stops charging. I also never charge my phone with a case on, be it wired or wireless charging. My one plus 10 pro is one year and three months old, and the 5000 dual cell mha battery is as good as new.

    @andyH_England Před 4 lety +9

    OPPO stated that its 45-watt charging degrades the battery 3x quicker than 15-watt charging. However, if you use fast-charging as you are supposed to, that is, when you need a top-up fast, then there should be less impact. This means you are at say 20% and you fast-charge to 70%. Most of the damage to the battery cycle count is charging from 80-100% and that is why Apple and Sony have software to moderate the charge (trickle), though better to stop at 80% if you can. Slow-charge, when you are not in a hurry, is a good rule. I think Samsung only charges to 90% (reservoir) when it says it is full as all the devices I tested I could never get 100% capacity whereas other OEMs I did (Sony and Pixel), so that is a great way to force consumers to have better battery management.
    Many teens keep their phone under 2-years so are not bothered about degradation and they pass on that problem to the next user. It is similar to your car, if you look after it, you will get the best from it.

    I have a Realme X2 pro since 6 months charging at 50w. Full charge in 30 mns. Basically I plug it 10 mns twice a day and I'm good to go. The battery do not heat this way and it is a much better charging habit than charging all night up to 100%.
    Best battery charging range is indeed 20%-80% for longevity and fast charging allow you to do so.
    Whatever charging speed, you are responsible to use it accordingly for your battery best longevity.

    In my personal experience, I say not the quick/fast charging but the heat that comes with the quick/fast charging is what really degrades the battery. I have an iphone 7plus that i used for almost 4 years with the adapter(5Watt) and cable that comes with it. And after 4 years, the battery percentage on my 7plus has down to 86%. Now, i have an iphone 11pro, which is obviously a replacement for my 7plus that I’ve been using for a year now with the adapter(18Watt) and cable the comes with it. And i just noticed that in just a year, the battery of my 11pro has degraded to 84% compared to my 7plus that took 4 years to degrade to 86%. And to be honest, i was actually harsher to my 7plus cause i remember watching movies and gaming with it while it was charging. I never did that to my 11pro.

    Excellent information thanks. I've read that to extend your batteries life to not let it fall beneath 40 percent and only charge it to 80 percent. However, that is just so inconvenient it's not true. I always fill my battery up and if I can put it on the charger if it falls to 40 percent or lower. I do hope that with really fast charging that the battery isn't degraded by more than 10 percent over 2 years.

      It has to have fast charging hardware. Your phone's charging voltage defines how fast it goes. If your phone's charging voltage is up to 15w it can't go above that no matter if you use a 65watt charger or any software that is present on it. @@stefan-D I have no problem with slow charging for urban areas where electricity is 24*7, and the battery lasts easily for a day, one can easily plug in the charger during night. But in india, most Asia and Africa, many of the days especially in winter, some places revive only 2 hour electricity a day, in the scenarios like this fast charging is warranted. And also for hard core gamers, fast charging is a must feature, I have experience with that, my phone usually lasts a day easily but when I m gaming , it gives a mere 4-6 hours of screen on time. Then u have to wait another 3 hours for full charge, that sucks. Having a fast charger like 50 watt will charge ur mobile to 75% in 25 minutes, u can again enjoy ur gaming.
