    Sounds good I just cut some lightning ridge opals that need a bezel set. I’m will be cutting more next week. 😊

    On my custom engagement ring, they didn’t really take the time to make a true hole to let light through where the cathedral comes up towards the diamond. I suspect partially because it’s takes longer to do it with platinum. When I asked them to clean it up and make a real hole to let light pass, they said light only reflects out of the top of the diamond so it wouldn’t matter. As I suspected more light still = lighter looking diamond even though light does reflect back out the top. Loved the video thanks!

      Hi Anna, no you're right having a smaller hole will make the diamond appear darker. Making your ring in platinum has nothing to do with it, this sounds like a lack of knowledge in craftsmanship unfortunately.

    I went a bezel setting for a 3.41 carat spinel centre (rather than a diamond) for my engagement ring with a halo of diamonds. I figured that this would give my spinel a good amount of protection

      Sounds beautiful! Spinels are such nice stones

    your thoughts on bezels for softer stones? like sphalerite opal and sphene?

    • @DominiqueFlux
      @DominiqueFlux  Před 6 měsíci

      Very good point! If you do have softer stones like opals for example putting them in a Bezel will help protect them from every day wear and tear!

    My stone fell out of its oval bezel 2 times. They are not very secure if you are rough with your jewelry. One good hit, and the stone can fall out.

      For a stone to fall out of a bezel, you would have to heat your jewelry very hard

    I really have my heart set on a thick band east west emerald cut diamond witht semi bezel edges. Would it be as secure as a full bezel?

      Love that! Yes, I would not be worried, you want to work with someone reputable

      No. A semi bezel for east west stones is NOT secure. Ask a master bench jeweler.
