Rev hang is a definite thing - it was a big issue on the VA WRXes and STIs. It's actually an emissions thing and it's very easy to tune out. Engineering Explained put up a video explaining what's going on a while back. To be fair, this could be a different issue, but it sure sounds like what you're describing.
Starting with the 370, Nissan introduced RevMatching on the transmissions. This was for both up and downshifting. I assume it could be that, but I haven't driven the new Z, only my 370. There is also a stop sale email going around on forums for these Proto Spec Manual Z's from Nissan (Yes there is also one on the Auto's in regards to runaway cars when in Park), so I'm guessing that is one of the reasons why they are issuing that.
3in lift and you will be good to go with the 37s. depending on offset you might need to do some trimming. Glad to see the truck doesn’t sound like a jet on the freeway anymore lol
Should clean the area for the badges really well with IPA before you install them. Will help them stay on longer. You don't wanna lose $300 a piece badges...
Manual Transmission on my 400Z definitely feels the same. It also almost feels like before you go into a gear, it like locks for split second and then goes into gear. My Z did get recalled and Nissan will put an entire brand new Transmission in my Z. I wonder if that will fix that, but I agree. My G35 CD009 feels 1000 times better than the one on the Z.
So it has to do something with the transmission? Thought it was something ECU related, sucks to hear that. I heard about the new Civic SI having the same 'problem'...
I wonder if it has some sort of clutch delay valve. I have a honda that had a similar issue. I was able to delete the delay valve and that fixed the issue. Maybe something that you can look into
its probably equivalent to how the tiptronic transmission feels in auto VQs. Very slight hang for like a fraction of a second before the rpm drops again in a new gear

I own a Nissan Z Proto in Australia and noticed the exact same thing and have the same opinion. I was surprised I hadn’t heard any reviewers talk about it but the e car has a serious amount of rev hang. It was the one thing I mentioned at the 1000km courtesy service. The car looks great but doesn’t drive great. It’s not bad and is still fun. Just not great.

37s can be fit by either buying a 8-10 inch lift kit front and back possible metal trimming but if you were to get a 10 inch lift kit you wouldn’t have to trim or cut anything👍👍

Most creators use CZcams shorts just like a movie trailer to drive traffic towards their latest video. Just clip something interesting from the latest video that will entice the audience to the full version.
To fit 37s you gotta do a bigger lift because Chevy have “square” wheel wells. Fords and dodge have “round” wheel wells so 37s fit better on fords. For your truck look into at least a 4inch lift… 6 inch is preferred for no trimming with a +0. The 4 inch will need minor trimming meaning the plastic hanging on the bottom of the bumper and on the inside of the wheel well cause it will rub on a full turn. To avoid cupping which is when the tread is uneven rotate every 5K miles and stay away from mud terrain tires that’s why it’s so loud on the freeway. Falken AT3s are the best I mean 55K warranty 1 year road hazard and 3 peak rating so you don’t need chains in the snow is kinda hard to beat and it’s the best option for the price and quality of the tire. TJ if you haven't already! Clean or replace the map sensor on top of the intake on that truck. Not sure how many miles you have but it could be caked with soot.

The trans probably has a clutch delay valve or system in it, similar to the AP2 s2000's - most people remove them to get that direct feel. I have a hunch that's what it is OR it's something in the tune/ECU that the car has.
Invest in a adhesion promoter pen. About $15 on Amazon. 3M. It will enhance the 3M tape tremendously. I would never stick a emblem or anything with double sided tape without it. We are a custom auto shop and swear by it!
Make sure you get the truck aligned. I would also align it every 20k miles. The sound you get from driving yes does come from big truck tires but it also comes from when the tires start cupping which happens when the alignment is not perfect
Im monthsss late to this video, but the reason why those tires were so chopped and had a lot of vibration is bc you weren’t rotating them as you should. Every 5k miles, you get an oil change and a proper tire rotation. That way, you tires wear evenly.. its the same as a regular car except that AT tires you will notice wayyyyy more

Rev hang is a big thing. Honda does it on almost every manual. You can disable the Rev hang on them with some tuning. I'd assume tuning companies will eventually have the ability to on the Z as well. Lightweight flywheels can help but also I piss the car off as well

I went with all seasons on my truck two sets ago. Never putting ATs on the truck again. Unless you are going off road, AT are not the way to go. I use my truck to tow my toys or go to Home Depot.

Teej..I used to have a 6speed TSX and it felt that same way with the transmission, I put a different clutch master and a lightweight flywheel and it fixed the Rev hang issue. I know it's a different platform but just something to look into
Electronic throttle body would be contributing to that rev hang a throttle controller should help. Throttle controller + light weight flywheel + short shifter and it’ll be way different for sure
hey tj ! yea a lightweight flywheel would help a lot, i own a si and it came with a lot of rev hang from factory. but a tune a new flywheel would solve everything
The ev has a place but I agree with you. They are not taken over. It takes too much time to charge, not enough charging stations and most electric grids can't handle it. He'll in California they were asking people to not use the ac in there homes as much.
Rev hang is pretty normal on newer turbo cars. They do it to help with reducing emissions during gear changes. Its annoying and lot of tunes pretty much get rid of the rev hang
Those tires aren’t loud but for sure once they get close to needing changed they handle worse and get louder. Cooper stt pro is the way to go. If you want to fit 37s do it the right way. Get the bds coil over kit and and don’t go wider than a 37x12.50. Also offset plays a major part in fitting them but yours seem mild
Im sure you can tune out the rev hang. It's emmission related. I had bad rev hang on my e92 335i. I changed the clutch delay valve to a better flowing valve and it helped. Then I tuned it and it went away
As a fan of 90s car kits and veilside, I wish he chose one of the other kits instead of the overplayed rx7 kit. I mean it’s a cool kit but nearly a hundred builds have been completed. Veilside also has multiple rx7 kits
TJ, I’d argue and say the B7 RS4 (and the V8 R8 cuz it’s the same engine) is the best sounding V8 out there. I used to own one and the redline was like 8K RPM. It also had a crazy whine maybe because of the timing chain and the way the 4.2L V8 was designed.
Hey tj I do truck stuff not car stuff I still love car stuff but trucks with extreme tread depth more off-road type of tread they need to be rotated more often to keep them from acting the way they were in the beginning
Okay TJ so what you don't want to do is put a bigger tire on that thing because then you change the gear ratio in the back end and it makes it not so reliable for towing keep with the 35 ,that truck is made for towing not for off-road diesels suck bad for off-roading anyways... I used to be a service advisor for GM for a lot of years and most of our clients were diesel trucks
1st - We need more harley stuff, I bought one after you did, mines a bit bigger though haha. 2nd - Can use shorts for bs around the shop or track or at home, not long enough for the vlog but still funny stuff or quick tips for working on cars or what not

Tj Im in the industry I see and live this shit everyday. You lift your truck if your planning to off road/getting muddy. How often do you drive your truck? And do you ever off road it. If your looking to clear 37s, Most cost effective way is to get a level/lift kit. 3 inch front and 2inch on the rear. You level out the truck with blocks and bilsteins 5100 in the rears, put some new rims and bigger tires and youll be the most red neck LA boy without the farm Bud! End of day level/lift kit will run you 500 to 900 max in parts/ 7 to 10 hours labour with alignment and mount and balance of tires and rims. Lifting your truck will cost you 3500 to 5000 for quality Bds or Icon lift. Plus another 7 to 10 hours labour. Do the math how often do you jump your truck and go hardcore offroading?

Newer gm trucks SUCK at keeping good alignment and cupping is absolutely more prevalent on them. I work at ford and I’ve seen more chevys on the alignment rack than really anything else

The 15+ WRX had a huge issue with rev hang. This was fixed via tuning which is one of the main reasons why every wrx is tuned.
Because GM’s brilliant design was to go with square wheel wells, the only way you can stuff 37s under a Silverado is with at least 6” lift.

Rev hang needs to be tuned down, Hondata FP tunes it out on most models that suffer from hang, I am sure AMS can find a resolution.
Do a 2.5 or 3 level strut/ spacer could run 37’s easily and look amazing 🔥🔥🔥

You can fit 37s with a leveling kit. Source: I drive a 2021 Denali hd on 37s and a leveling kit (no cutting or trimming).

The ev has a place but I agree with you. They are not taken over. It takes too much time to charge, not enough charging stations and most electric grids can't handle it. He'll in California they were asking people to not use the ac in there homes as much.

Rev hang is pretty normal on newer turbo cars. They do it to help with reducing emissions during gear changes. Its annoying and lot of tunes pretty much get rid of the rev hang

Those tires aren’t loud but for sure once they get close to needing changed they handle worse and get louder. Cooper stt pro is the way to go.
If you want to fit 37s do it the right way. Get the bds coil over kit and and don’t go wider than a 37x12.50. Also offset plays a major part in fitting them but yours seem mild
Im sure you can tune out the rev hang. It's emmission related. I had bad rev hang on my e92 335i. I changed the clutch delay valve to a better flowing valve and it helped. Then I tuned it and it went away
As a fan of 90s car kits and veilside, I wish he chose one of the other kits instead of the overplayed rx7 kit. I mean it’s a cool kit but nearly a hundred builds have been completed. Veilside also has multiple rx7 kits

TJ, I’d argue and say the B7 RS4 (and the V8 R8 cuz it’s the same engine) is the best sounding V8 out there. I used to own one and the redline was like 8K RPM. It also had a crazy whine maybe because of the timing chain and the way the 4.2L V8 was designed.
Hey tj I do truck stuff not car stuff I still love car stuff but trucks with extreme tread depth more off-road type of tread they need to be rotated more often to keep them from acting the way they were in the beginning

Okay TJ so what you don't want to do is put a bigger tire on that thing because then you change the gear ratio in the back end and it makes it not so reliable for towing keep with the 35 ,that truck is made for towing not for off-road diesels suck bad for off-roading anyways... I used to be a service advisor for GM for a lot of years and most of our clients were diesel trucks
1st - We need more harley stuff, I bought one after you did, mines a bit bigger though haha. 2nd - Can use shorts for bs around the shop or track or at home, not long enough for the vlog but still funny stuff or quick tips for working on cars or what not
Yeah if it’s rev hang lightweight clutch and flywheel and a tube and u will be good. My fc1 si has rev hang and it’s annoying. Plan on fixing it soon

I’m gonna watch no matter what cars you build or buy, but the jdm cars just tickle my fancy a little more than say the C8, Lamborghini, Ferrari etc. Don’t get me wrong they’re all doap, but the jdm content just inspires me more to get my projects on the road and hopefully to a meet up at some point. You should rotate the tires on the truck about every 3-5k miles. I do it every oil change. That’ll help with wear.
To fit 37s you’re gonna have to cut some of the metal at the back of the fenders. My Tundra had the same issue
I swear that e90 m3 is your best car besides the JDM line up. I had the option to get an e90 but went with a stang. Couldn’t afford a rod bearing job or I’d have gotten an e90. 100%
Tj Im in the industry I see and live this shit everyday. You lift your truck if your planning to off road/getting muddy. How often do you drive your truck? And do you ever off road it. If your looking to clear 37s, Most cost effective way is to get a level/lift kit. 3 inch front and 2inch on the rear. You level out the truck with blocks and bilsteins 5100 in the rears, put some new rims and bigger tires and youll be the most red neck LA boy without the farm Bud! End of day level/lift kit will run you 500 to 900 max in parts/ 7 to 10 hours labour with alignment and mount and balance of tires and rims. Lifting your truck will cost you 3500 to 5000 for quality Bds or Icon lift. Plus another 7 to 10 hours labour. Do the math how often do you jump your truck and go hardcore offroading?

You can fit 37’s but you have to go back to stock wheels. I have a 21 leveled with 37x13.5’s. Mild rub but I’m on stock wheels. No spacers.
I believe the revhang is due to the factory burbles, my bang tune on my e46 makes it have some rev hang
i work at nissan this motor is found in q50 and the trans has a recall for second gear cutting power.
Those gladiator xcomp mt tires are loud in general and you gotta rotate the tires every 5k miles to have good wear

That rev hang is because of the electronic throttle body. Get a pedal commander for it👍🏾
we are all that guy/girl under a bridge.....and when we know that fellow car person is gonna do it before they do it, is the absolute best.....and the cherry on the top of it is when your driving with a non car person and you call it out play by play.

Newer gm trucks SUCK at keeping good alignment and cupping is absolutely more prevalent on them. I work at ford and I’ve seen more chevys on the alignment rack than really anything else
