After 6 months today we decided to go to a beautiful coffee shop , in front of the beach in Peraia , a beautiful town very close to Thessaloniki.
I took the camera with me , because I thought it would be nice for you to listen to some real greek conversations between native speakers.
In this video , the conversations you are going to listen to are fast and very common in Greek. In the explanation clips , I speak clearly and slowly.

Greece was in a lockdown situation for 6 months. Last Monday the cafes and restaurants finally opened! It was a very beautiful , sunny day and we enjoyed our drinks in front of the sea.
We ordered 2 coffees and an orange juice, one freddo espresso and one frappe.
Did you know that when we need to order anything we need to use accusative?
So we said: έναν φρέντο εσπρέσο σκέτο , ένα φραπέ με γάλα, έναν χυμό πορτοκάλι.
Maybe you’ll ask about the genders here: we said : έναν φρέντο but ένα φραπέ.
Of course you know that ο καφές is a masculine noun but sometimes when we order ‘’frappe’’ or ‘’freddo espresso, cappuccino ‘’ etc we make these nouns neuter because they are not greek words.

I have a question about the coffee orders! The fist one was a freddo espresso without sugar. the text onscreen says "sketo" - does that mean "without sugar"? I'm trying to learn greek and I was taught that to be "xoreis zahari" (sorry if the english lettering is wrong/bad lol I don't know how to type in greek on my laptop!). The second one was "one frappe with milk and sugar" and the text reads "yleko me gala" - which I read as "sweet with sugar". Could you also say "me gala kai zahari"? Or is "yleko me gala" kind of like short for that? Forgive me as I'm only in the third month of learning but i LOVE it and finding your channel has been very helpful! I'm using Duolingo which doesn't give you explanations or lessons on conjugation and that kind of stuff, it's just the words, so trying to understand which things to use when is going to be something i'll have to learn from people like you!! Thank you for your channel and your awesome videos, I'm so glad I found you!!

Ποτέ δεν έχω πιει καφέ στην Ελλάδα, επειδή ήμουν παιδί την προηγούμενη φορά που ήμουν στην Ελλάδα. Ελπίζω να μπορώ να πάω σε μια ελληνική καφετέρια ή σ' ένα ελληνικό εστιατόριο σύντομα! Στη Γερμανία δεν έχουν ανοίξει ακόμα...
I have two questions, in case you have time to answer...
1. Is έναν one of those words that can drop the νι at the end like τον, την, μην, δεν? Because you said ένα χυμό at first.
2. I didn't really see what you did in this particular situation. But in general, is it common in Greece to tip the waiter/waitress? For example, in Germany, I usually try to pay about 10% more than the actual price.

So, 1. when we speak we say both: ένα χυμό, έναν χυμό everything is correct! But when we write them we need always the final ν with masculines! 2. In Greece is not necessary to tip , I mean it's not like in Europe but it's nice to give something!!

It was greet lesson ...but if you can make video with the shop owner it would be more effective .....it becomes in detailed video ....like..you will enter the shop or restaurant nd greet them and ask for different different orders,....and paying with cash or card , in that case we learn about greek food or drink proper pronunciation......... please don't mind it's just my opinion......bcz i also try to learn greek....

Η κοντινότερη παραλία απέχει 1 ώρα οδικώς, αλλά οι πιο όμορφες παραλίες απέχουν 2 ώρες με το αυτοκίνητο. Δεν με νοιάζει, πάντα πηγαίνω σε αυτά.

Άλλο ένα πολύ ενδιαφέρον κι εκπαιδευτικό βίντεο. Πάντα προτιμούσα τις ελληνικές καφετέριες από τις αγγλικες προσωπικά με τα χίλια. Έχω κάτι να σε ρωτήσω όσον αφορά στην γραμματική παρεμπιπτόντως, στην εφαρμογή από την οποία έμαθα τα βασικά, λέει ότι το σωστό είναι «χυμός πορτοκαλιού». Μήπως είναι λάθος αυτό; ή και τα δύο είναι σωστά;
ευχαριστώ πάρα πολύ! Λοιπόν ο χυμός πορτοκαλιού μπορεί να είναι φυσικός, δηλαδή εκείνη την ώρα το φτιάχνουν ή όχι κι έτσι μπορεί να το έχουν αγοράσει! Εγώ προτιμώ τον φυσικό! 😍😍😍
