Just passed my N test today.
The main takeaway for everyone tryna pass, EXAGGERATE your shoulder checking and scanning as much as possible and make sure that you call out when u shoulder check if the examiner ISN'T looking or is writing something down, they will assume you didn't at all if you don't tell them. They have dinged me for that over 2 times, I was only able to pass today because I made that effort to let them know.
How did you let them know? Did you literally just say âIâm shoulder checkingâ
Thats stupid. I failed like 4 times and trust me i have been driving my mustang GT for 2 years with learners license. I never had any accidents or any near misses. I am always careful but somehow when i do a road test they fail me coz the only excuse is i wasnt shoulder checking enough and i wasnt aware of my surroundings. Like you dont have a proof for that. If i wasnt shoulder checking and didnt have aware of my surroundings we both would have been in accident. One of them literally told me you can never argue with your examiner wether they are wrong or not.
@@Black-Coyote5.0 wonder who bought you that mustang. cringe.

Hand-over-hand steering is fine (at least on class 5). In fact, it's recommended by the manual when turning right, since you need to execute the maneuver quickly. I passed my class 5 exam today without the examiner telling me anything about my hand positioning. The important part is making sure you have 2 hands on the steering wheel when stopped or moving straight. Do a quick scan of your side+rear mirrors every 5-8 seconds - shows the examiner you're being observant. Good luck people
No
@@2pointoh300 ICBC, Tuning Up for Drivers: âfor sharp right turns, use hand-over-hand steeringâ. Page 32 of the book. Look it up yourself if you disagree.
I was failed for doing overhand steering
Thanks for the advice. Let me know if you have any tips. I'm doing my test in 6 days
Thank you for making time to shoot this video and share your experience. So nice of you. Congratulations super proud of you! Drive safe and keep sharing experiences. You are doing a great job. Take care.
Hope, BC
Another great video, Aedan. Outstanding advice and you will ease a lot of stress of the people who watch this before their test. Congratulations on passing your N test. Stay safe out there.
For sure thanks so much! Glad you liked it and it will be a success if I can make at least one person less nervous lol
Also... if you know anyone this was the best advice I got from someone while I was waiting to take my test. Get someone to follow the examiners and write down their routes then practice in those streets. I was already familiar with where I was going because of my instructor but if you canât do that this is great advice. I know itâs kinda creepy but in terms of the test itâs a great idea..
Hey just took my road test today, became friends with the instructor right away literally had a casual convo the whole drive haha. Also hand over hand steering is just fine doesn't matter. I'm in BC btw.
This video really helped ease some stress before my test this morning. Thanks bud. I'll update this if I pass lol
I passed todayyyđđâŠmost important point for everyone..if the examiner wants u to fail u will fail so donât worry if yâall fail. That was my case for my last test before. Good luck friends!!!
17 is such a good year, good luck to you in life.
Thank you bro! I passed my test this morning. Your video was super helpful!!!
Thanks for the tips! Going to try again (3rd times) in one week. Wish me luck đ€
thank you Aedan! This video will surely help me on my road test for Class 7 next month. Cheers! I will come back here again if I pass the road test on my 1st try :)
Hey man, I just wanted to say thanks! Because of your video I passed my N the first time!
Thanks so much for this video! I'm going for my first N test tomorrow and this helped a lot :)
Iâm driver from Ontario and Iâve got say your roads are very interesting and can lead to very big accidents. Even with your speeds being much slower than ok Ontario. Iâll let you guys know practice in multiple areas just so your not driving in strange surroundings.
Bruh the driving examiners in Surrey are super strict. They are less lenient than in other locations. They point out the littlest things. I failed 6 times. My seventh attempt is coming this June đŠđŁđąđ
Go somewhere else for the test and take a couple lessons with a local driving school, they know the area and will run you through everything you need to pass the test. As you've done it so many times I'm sure you know the area, but instructors can help point out the little things
That's rough dude. Keep trying and practicing. You'll get it. I promise
6 times LOL
Did you pass?

thank you a lot for tips. It helps me calm before take road test!

I passed my N road test yesterday first try thanks for your tips. đ
Awesome video man short and crisp
Congrats, Aedan :)
Ya. I especially like that tip about taking a little more time to wait at a red light instead of turning right on it.

Hey thanks buddy! Wordđ Having my test in 7 hours guys! am nervous wish me luck and I will come back with an update. Stay blessed everyone and good luck đ€
thanks so much for this!! my test is tomorrow and i havenât had any lessons so my parents have been trying their best but we donât know all the information a professional would. idk why i waited to the last minute for this but thanks.
What I find annoying is the rules about speed are not consistent. They don't really care if you are going a couple km over 50 in a 50 zone, so long as you notice and fix it. But go 1 km over 30 in a 30 zone and you fail.
thank you for posting this!
Thanks for all this information!!! so clear! thanks a lot!
i passed first try because of you thanks bro!
taking my test tmmr , wish me luck đ
this rlly helped bro, thank u sm
I had to come and confirm after watching this video 30 minutes before my road test I passed on the first try. đ lmao thanks my dude!
Good stuff brother
nice video bro, failed 2 times already hoping 3rd will be passed đ
Update: Thank goodness I finally passed my Class 7 road test today after 7 unsuccessful attempts in Surrey. I won my license on the 8th attempt. I was used to the roads in Surrey, that's why I did not choose another city to do the test. My advice for those of you that are taking the road test in Surrey is to avoid taking any risk that can result in a dangerous action or a violation, make sure to exaggerate your observation, and maintain speed to impress the examiners. Surrey has the strictest examiners than any other city in BC!
Congratulations man I feel for you Iâm so happy for you I go for mine in a week Iâm anxious but I think Iâm gonna do great :)
@@scamper7478 How did you do on your test?
7 nigga god danm
Holy fuck seven times Iâm on my fifth attempt fuck I CBC
@@AviationAiden0 I feel you. It really sucks that ICBC has a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad rule: if you fail 3 times, your next attempt always has to take place 2 months after your last road test! SMH
Just pass first try in north van. ICBC examiner KM was super chill, she said I was the best all day and just wrote amazing job on my paperâŠ
dudeee we need you back!
mines in two days!! Iâm so excited but so nervous too!
Hand over hand steering is suggested in the ICBC book so I think you should you that when taking the test. Asking the examiner is probably best
Yes it is allowed but the lady I did some driving classes with said it is not good to cross too much.. if you can try the turn without crossing your hands or at least practice it so you can use it if needed. Also like I said in the video I'm not 100% sure, I'm just going off of what I experienced. Also if you are going to do the hand over hand method just make sure it's nice and smooth.
Do u have a test coming up? :)
@@aedankelly I have a test today đ€Łđ
How if the car behind you will honk you because your not turning right on the red light? Just ignored them? Because you suppose to turn right in red light when its safe some examiner will gonna fail you if your not turning right on a red light if safe
Generally, just do not screw up on your road test. Make to sure practice a lot before the test.
your car kinda looks familiar, i think we weâre doing the same speed on the road but i had to get into your lane đ(if it was you and your buddies in the car) it was on march 12 near westwood plateau village in coquitlam, or some where around there HAHA
Bro thanks i passed mine on first try within 20 mins and no reverse parking. Just had to do 2 pullovers and 2 parallel.
Taking my test class 7 road test in the morning, I have confidence for it being my first time. Just trying not to get stressed. Thanks for the advice!
Hey how'd it go just passed first try this morning.
Good tips, and thank you.
I have my first N road test next week. I'm pretty sure I'll pass the first time, I'm just worried about my nerves getting to me. Haha I'm am anxious person as is. This really helps a lot thank you đ
did you pass?
Iâm on my fifth fucking attempt
I'm on like 3-4, I hate this shit too man
Thank you for this advice
No problem!
about backing up, does it have to be single hand or I can use both hands since I never tried single hand
Awesome video
Do I need to make a stop before turning when facing a green light if I encounter turning when I was facing a green light during my test?
Does the reverse parking when you get back to ICBC after your test matter? if you get it a bit to close to the line do they care will they fail you? Is reverse parking a important part???
This video help me a lot!!!
I hope I will pass my testđ
Great video I have my test in 10 days and this helps

@@makaelamcleod9676 I donât think she did because she never replied but maybe
There are people that did worse and failed more than twice
Thanks man I actually passed on my first try today thanks to this video đ I was so surprised.
I've worked with people that have failed 2-5 times before getting class 5. Not sure how really, It's all common sense and the instructors can see if you're confident and know what you are generally doing. I passed the 1st time drove with 1 hand and talked with the instructor, rolled to the car in front of me without my hands on the wheel due to talking lol. Older lady too only got dinged 3x for not shoulder checking every time, not applying parking brake and going too slow in residential.
Is it stressful? Yup, drove for 5 years 1000's of miles and dozens of vehicles, big trucks, trailers etc etc before deciding to take it and I was nervous lol.
Thanks for the help!
I passed my N road test a few days ago on my first try! Thank goodness đ

Just saw this while scrolling. Haha 2 years later. Just wanted to point out that the N test is designed to be much harder since it tests to see if you can drive safely alone and applying general driving skills. By the time youre ready for the Class 5 test, everything should be second nature. Lessons also increase your chance of passing from 50% to 75% too

what's the rule/requirement for 60 hours of practice you need before your class 5? and is it mandatory? great video:)
I've probably driven 10-18 hours and am about to do my test in a few days. They don't actually in force the time aslong as you don't tell them how long you've driven and lie a bit. Just make sure you are comfortable and confident
@@arnovanderschyff428260hrs is insane. Im assuming theyre also counting âclassroomâ time where your supposed to study the manual.

Thanks for the advice, I've been driving for 15 years now and this is pretty spot on.
I can offer you some advice for your class 5 road test if you still haven't taken it. Don't even think about it. There is no parking component. They just want to sit in a car with you to make sure you're confident on the road.
Wow really! That's so cool. I still can't take my class 5 for a long time but when I do that will definitely help. Thanks!
@@aedankelly Yeah, it caught me completely off guard because I was expecting another class 7N type of test. But no, it was the most relaxing testing experience ever. We just drove around for 20 minutes until she was satisfied that I knew how to drive, haha.
I just passed my class 5 just almost 3 weeks ago. I can give you some tips on that too.
@@mohammedalrawi855 hey how did your class 5 test go like
@@parveeng4626 I passed from my first attempt. It was a lot easier for me than class 7, probably since I had gained a lot of experience since then. I had to actually however depend on my self a lot preparing for this test. It was a chance to do so. In my test I had to do an uphill park, parallel park, stop signs including all way stops, I was taken downtown too and tested on one and two way toads, I had to drive through a school zone too and was taken on the highway too. My test was in kelowna too which is probably a lot easier than the lowermain land. Good luck! on your test too.
I have my road test tmrw but I didnât know that about not crossing ur hands when turning!!! is this mandatory or no
Oh shoot.. I do not think it's mandatory but when crossing your hands just make sure it's smooth and never have both hands off wheel when turning.. good luck on the test and also look it up cuz I don't know what I'm talking about lol good luck! Let me know how it goes!

I failed my first road test in Langley. I was confused on the end of playground sign so i speed up then the examiner told me why i did speed up. I said im very sorry I thought its already the end of the playground. Which is only a bump sign. Anyway im getting my 2nd road test in maple ridge tomorrow. Hopefully i will pass this time.
I really wish they had a sign on our side that just said end of school/park zone⊠or just a reg speed sign!
Please try to make sure you actually know where the school zone signs end. This was one of the reasons I failed because when I exited the school zone my examiner said I did not speed up enough. You can fail for going too slow. Great advice though overall.
Spot on. I failed on my first try just because I donât pay attention on the school zone signs end and I ended up driving so slow lol
Even better tip just make sure you know everything about school zones. I failed my first test because I did 30 in a school zone. It was an elementary school. Yea what I didn't know because I wasn't in school or have kids in school it was the first literal day of spring break
If ur taking N in Richmond Claim center, I have some CZcams videos of the exact route of the test, the only thing is that the person is speaking Chinese
