This younger generation understands the importance of maintaining their mental health and has greater access to mental health resources than any generation that came before it. Content of this skit is so needed right now in our community. Angry, out of control kids killing each other, roaming around breaking into homes and cars, killing random strangers, bullying teachers, fighting school resource officers, forming shoplifting gangs. And the first thing we, appropriately, ask is where were the parents. Well this skit series is showing how something like this can start in a family. And we are missing the point. None of this is Jada’s fault. The parents are so caught up in their own mess they are missing their child’s needs. The father is not taking responsibility for his family and is providing no leadership. So of course there is chaos in the home. His behavior could have ended his daughter’s life. Yet we overlook this. Her mom is oblivious to the physical abuse that is right around the corner. And many commenters are thinking there is no value in this skit. But are all in on the drug and gang skits, wanting people to have birthday parties and for the drug dealers to be successful. Check yourselves.
@@kennyray1573 what we are seeing in this skit series is classic for what kids in the system and adults in counseling and longterm incarcerated often report about their home life growing up. Parents constantly arguing, at least one alcoholic/ drug using parent in the home who was not functioning as a responsible adult. With no healthy alternative living arrangements for the child, we see so many of the issues I listed, that kids engage in. Not my projections, but headlines we see in the news eveyday. And that family courts deal with daily. So yeah, my response was addressing this whole series storyline so far, not just this one specific skit. Thanks for your question.

The comments are filled with these statements that seem to regard children as property w/ no rights of their own, and that simply isn’t true. This is the BS our parents screamed at us and now it’s being passed on to a younger generation. Here’s the problem, however. This younger generation understands the importance of maintaining their mental health and has greater access to mental health resources than any generation that came before it. These “rules” you’re articulating really aren’t rules b/c we no longer live in an era where women are children are considered property. More children are estranged from their parents than ever before b/c they prioritize their wellbeing over their parent’s ego and need for control. And thankfully, the courts do as well b/c when teens are able to show the home environment is unhealthy and that they have a safe place to stay with a responsible adult of their choosing, courts are willing to step in grant the child’s request for their own wellbeing. So you are spewing a made up set of rules that only leads to children walking away from their parents forever. Gone are the days where youth have no say in their own wellbeing and must be subjected to arbitrary rules held by unfit parents.

Content of this skit is so needed right now in our community. Angry, out of control kids killing each other, roaming around breaking into homes and cars, killing random strangers, bullying teachers, fighting school resource officers, forming shoplifting gangs. And the first thing we, appropriately, ask is where were the parents. Well this skit series is showing how something like this can start in a family. And we are missing the point. None of this is Jada’s fault. The parents are so caught up in their own mess they are missing their child’s needs. The father is not taking responsibility for his family and is providing no leadership. So of course there is chaos in the home. His behavior could have ended his daughter’s life. Yet we overlook this. Her mom is oblivious to the physical abuse that is right around the corner. And many commenters are thinking there is no value in this skit. But are all in on the drug and gang skits, wanting people to have birthday parties and for the drug dealers to be successful. Check yourselves.

@@kennyray1573 what we are seeing in this skit series is classic for what kids in the system and adults in counseling and longterm incarcerated often report about their home life growing up. Parents constantly arguing, at least one alcoholic/ drug using parent in the home who was not functioning as a responsible adult. With no healthy alternative living arrangements for the child, we see so many of the issues I listed, that kids engage in. Not my projections, but headlines we see in the news eveyday. And that family courts deal with daily. So yeah, my response was addressing this whole series storyline so far, not just this one specific skit.
