I figured some people might want to watch Sig speak Norwegian with some English subs. Sig is completely native, and speaks a distinct Rogaland dialect.
wow sig is such a proud Norwegian man. and i love the personality of how happy he was to meet the king of his country and when he spoke his native language he was so happy and so much different then the persona you see on the deadliest catch program
It's so weird and yet so awesome to hear him speak norska. I'm Swedish so I'm no expert but he sounds 100% norsk to me. And how effortlessly he switches from norska to english and back, that's impressive. I know he grew up with both languages but still, it's so easy to loose parts of the one you use less, which I would imagine is norska if you live in Alaska. Tackar för videon!
Well it makes sense when you realize English isn't his 1st language. Also his wife and daughters all speak Norska too, so i'd be surprised if he doesn't use that language at least as much - if not more - than he does english
I tell you what. For someone who hasn't probably spoke his native tongue since childhood, he did really well. I hope his daughters have learnt their ancestral language to. Its important never to forget your roots or who your people are
Sig might be a little rusty, but he is (and always has been) an active speaker. Edgar and Sig actually speak Norwegian quite a lot. They were raised doing that. I know that, on the show, they always seem to use English, but that's because Deadliest Catch is an English-language production. There have been Norwegian shows with Sig and his family, so, I've seen and heard all of them speak Norwegian. Sig's wife also is fully Norwegian (not "just" Norwegian-American), and she speaks the same dialect as Sig. And their daughters speak Norwegian fluently. It's pretty charming I think.
If I ever get to meet you sig Hanson it would be one of the special things in my life to shake your hand and say thank you for keeping the fisheries alive. You and your family are truly remarkable, and I wish you all the very best Amen.
My grandparents and great grandparents are from Norway. I visited Norway about 4 years ago. A lot of water and a lot or ROCK. I hope your island is not all rock. I wanted to visit their birthplaces, etc, but I’m not sure it will be in my plans for the future. My dad spoke Norwegian, but had to learn English when he started school. He would not teach us Norwegian because it was too difficult to learn English. I’ll tell you this: I will not be in the same zip code as Ludefisk being cooked. We are avid fans of Deadliest Catch.
He kinda sounds like a drunk or very excited Rogalending (local slang for we who live in Rogaland). So if he only spoke Norwegian I would 100% think he was a fellow native.

It`s not their daughter`s ancestral language, because they were adopted. But yes, they speak fluent norsk.
@@PastaRulla oh I didn't know they're adopted
@@PastaRulla yes but adopted from Norway, didnt they?
@@Repps87 oh yeah, at least the youngest one. For the middle one I am not sure.

Congratulations captain Sig were all.proud,
I've been trying to learn Icelandic.
I was surprised that I recognized a couple words.
Maybe I am picking some of it up.
yeah Norwegian and Islandic is very similar o some words, I am norwegian and trying to learn icelandic as well. How you doing?
Far min er fra Haugesund, han snakker tilnærmet lik ham! Super norsk!
Beautiful. Being Norwegian and Italian I confess I speak neither. I wish I did.
It's never too late. Start learning!
An interesting genetic combination.
So you're just American then?
You have Norwegian and italian citizenships but speak neither language? That is really odd.
@@kevinandersson1768he isn't norwegian or italian, he's an american with some ancestry from either probably so he plays pretend
Just love him
Gotta love crazy Sig 😁😊

SANT!! jeg synes jeg høre mer Haugesund eller Karmøy dialekt når han snakke

Stolt av du er norsk Sig
Han prater Norsk flytende
Alt for Norge 🇧🇻
Does he make other Norwegians proud.
He speaks Norwegian! Not slavisk/german//italian!
Bilingual Norwegian English sounds weird.
It almost sounds like a mix of slav and Italian.
Its pure Norwegian.
sounds like northern dutch and german
