Sig Hansen meets King Harald V of Norway, speaks Norwegian (English subs)
I figured some people might want to watch Sig speak Norwegian with some English subs.
Sig is completely native, and speaks a distinct Rogaland dialect.

Many years ago, I was able to badly play the piano. This recording, which is otherwise just rotting away on my hard drive, is one of very few proofs. The sound quality is terrible, but I can't do anything about that now. The illustrations were all created by the artist Louis Moe, who created them for a Danish translation of Gesta Danorum. The titles of each included illustration are: 1: A King ...

My grandparents and great grandparents are from Norway. I visited Norway about 4 years ago. A lot of water and a lot or ROCK. I hope your island is not all rock. I wanted to visit their birthplaces, etc, but I’m not sure it will be in my plans for the future. My dad spoke Norwegian, but had to learn English when he started school. He would not teach us Norwegian because it was too difficult to learn English. I’ll tell you this: I will not be in the same zip code as Ludefisk being cooked. We are avid fans of Deadliest Catch.

Sig might be a little rusty, but he is (and always has been) an active speaker. Edgar and Sig actually speak Norwegian quite a lot. They were raised doing that. I know that, on the show, they always seem to use English, but that's because Deadliest Catch is an English-language production. There have been Norwegian shows with Sig and his family, so, I've seen and heard all of them speak Norwegian. Sig's wife also is fully Norwegian (not "just" Norwegian-American), and she speaks the same dialect as Sig. And their daughters speak Norwegian fluently. It's pretty charming I think.
