The effort and detail in this video is Top Class
This is a beautiful setup, also I really respect everything you do with your detailed pc builds. I will be consulting your vidoes to help me with my build next week. Keep up the amazing content!
Much appreciated!
Awesome Chris. Thinking to make exactly the same desk layout around here. I've stuck again on your recommendations. ThankU
As always, so thorough! This is the cleanest most aesthetic set up I've seen yet. Thank you so much for answering our questions about it!
Thanks, I apopreciate that
hows the sag? was the leg in the middle effective?
@@ChristopherFlannigan
very neat setup and superb cable management!
Thanks!
Congratulations Christian and thanks for sharing. Very nice set-up. Definitely, your channel has become my favourite in English language. 👍🏻🏆
Thanks
This inspires me to clean my table haha thank you 👍
Perfect!
This is so clean
Thanks
Holy cow, it's so clean and tasteful. Cheers!🍺😁
Thanks
very slick, love it!
Glad you like it!
So clean 👌
Glad you think so!
Very nice lad, very clean....well done.
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you for this! I have the same alex drawers with linmon tabletop and have been wanting to rise it up a bit but was wonderimg how it was to drill into ikea furniture since it's just cheap particle board. I was thinking of ordering some furniture legs from amazon and attaching them to the bottom of the alex drawers to raise the entire thing up so there isnt a huge gap between the drawers and the tabletop.
Looks great!!!
Thanks!!
Did you consider drilling a piece of timber with L braces into the worktop? Could be good for cable management and stopping sag
Hi mate, good looking desk! I built similar desk a couple of years ago and here's a tip on how to stop the table top from moving. Buy one of the self adhesive velcro, stick them on the legs and on the countertop above each leg and that's it, problem solved.
Thanks for the tip!
Would you consider moving one of the two lights from behind your monitor to over behind the pc to light up that corner?
Hey man, did you drill the gerton leg or just screw it in? I've got one and haven't set it up yet as I'm still unsure whether I should drill it
Can I ask what’s your day job ? Really nice setup. I see why your videos are so pro.
This is an amazing video with thorough detail. I'm thinking about getting a desk set up very similar to this one, so I'm wondering the general price of the two Ikea storages, the 8 4 inch legs, the one longer leg in the middle and the counter top. So the basic parts of the set up😅
Just randomly looking at IKEA desk set ups.. and ohh my! I recognise a voice..🤫 didn't know you had 2 channels..
This is a great video. Im thinking about getting the carlby and the rest of the desk very similar to yours. But one quick question do you think this will hold the weight of a ps5 and xbox series x. (I have my pc on the floor, so thats a bit less weight)?
Great set up Chris.
Thanks Arvin, did you ever build your PC?
@@ChristopherFlannigan Hi Chris. yes I built it.
Very nice what did you go with?
@@ChristopherFlannigan pcpartpicker.com/list/vCLhF8
is it possible to get the little furniture legs to have screw bits on both ends so i can bolt it to the alex drawers and also the table top to make it very stable?
where can I get the screws, nuts and washers in the US? Btw there's two washers listed (M3 and M4 washers), which one did he use for the desk?
Thanks you for you video!!
Nice and clean! I like it besides im not a huge fan of led stripes
Thanks
Is the Alex and Karlby combo WITHOUT the leg stands still too high for shorter people? 5'6 or shorter? Just wondering would a KARLBY and HELMER combo work? Helmer is 26" high without castors but would 2 of these support the Karlby?
Did you have to sand down the table top at all? Or do anything to it?
I've been mulling over a similar desk build using the karlby, but had reservations about it being a particleboard core and wanting to use multiple monitor arm clamps on it. I had wanted to use just monitor arm clamps because of potentially moving house in the next few years, but maybe some wall-mounts would be a better choice for me after all.
As for an additional way of combatting sag. I've seen other DIY desks with worktops use angle irons running along the underside, which can double up for helpful cable management when combined with some zip-ties. Sometimes even replacing the need for the middle leg.
Nice idea
Have you built yours yet? I’ve been pondering if I should use the karbly countertop as well. If it sags a little bit, I’ll be upset lol. So, I’m trying to do my own research.

How has it held up over a year and a half almost time? Any sag?
hi, was going to buy the speakers but i didnt know if u connected it with a naked wire and tightened it or bought a wire end so the wire aint naked if u understand?
how do u make the counter top and the drawers fit perfectly even through they not suppouesd to
A little over a year on from the video, how is the desk holding up? Has the sag increased or has it not changed?
Drawer Bumpers will fix the wobbly bits. lol 🤪
How did u sync the tv light wit the lighting down below?
Excellent. Congratulations on your new desk. You are clean and detailed as always. You explain everything until the last detail. I really like and admire this. I have only one question:
How do you choose your PC monitor? You take into account the graphics card only? Because I have heard that if your graphics card is not that strong, the graphics card will not be able to handle the big screen and it you will see some pixels in the screen. So, how to know if your graphics card is suitable for your monitor? Regards.
I would look for reviews of the gpu to see the fps at each resolution
@@ChristopherFlannigan Oh, that's a good tip. Thank you Christopher.
what is the depth of the desk? would it fit a 30L omen desktop?
Hey man Just wondering how did you manage to hide all the cables so it's not visible in between the desk and the actual alex drawers.
What types of screws do u use ? And size ?
Imma build this exact work desk/ gaming station, minus the echo dot. I don't want trolls giving it commands while gaming or streaming lol
Looks beautiful! How about stability? Does your monitor wobble when you type?
His monitor is mounted to the wall, not sitting on the desk. So, it probably never wobbles.
Your voice gives me chills. Idk why
Does your Karlby wobble? I've just set this up, 5 legs and 8 supports on my 2 Alexes and it's still quite bad
Christopher, what is the mouse mat that you use? Mine is about worn out and was looking for another. That one looks pretty nice!
Links in the description
Hey bud, got a link for the tv stand unit, or something similar? Unavailable these days.
Do you have the link for the usb headphone jack?
How well is this holding up?
By any chance could you provide a link to that LA skyline wallpaper ? Love the La skyline !!!
I agree
I hope in future there will be hover tables.
What the name of that small pilar's?
Thanks for the video, great inspiration. The link for the UK countertop is incorrect.
Thanks for pointing out, fixed now
Hello Chris, I'm sending this message to you from Iraq. Weather temperatures reach more than 50 C in summer. What is the best Pc case + cpu cooling combo to accommodate the mentioned situation ( we use AC of course)
It all depends on budget and how poweful the hardware is that you are using. But a 360mm AIO and a case that has fans below the GPU wouldn't be a bad idea so somethin like the lancool II mesh or PCO11 dynamic would be a good choice.
How many cm is this table top side to side?
Do you have a cutting desk?
How long table 1.86cm?
I have the same Desk,or should i say Kitchen worktop from IKEA...I actually have 2 in an L-Shape configuration..Did you apply any finish to walnut veneer.?
No, it came in that colour
Nice setup. I am curious. Do you game? If so, what kinda games are you in to?
I play a bit, but don't get much time for it. I'm playing watch dogs legion at the moment and like assassins creed also
When I go on ikeas UK website it's says the alex draws are discontinued anywhere else I could buy them in the UK 🤔
They remade the product with some minor changes to the mounting system. They released the new ones April 1st, they are on the app and website now.
Where did You get those shorter legs?
A little over a 3 months, hows the sag? was the leg in the middle effective?
Hi what’s sag because I’m planing to get this work top?
@@YoAwoken The middle part of the table slightly bends downwards "sag" so the middle leg in the back usually prevents the sag.
How do I get that TV stand in the US :*(
is the monitor clamped to the led strips? does it affect the lighting??
Monitor on the wall
Did you use the 74 inch or the 98 inch countertop?
98inch... He says the longer one in the beginning
look's very nice..
Thanks
Does the countertop sag at all after 2 years?
nope
y donde estan los cables del pc
Did i build the drawers in the wrong way?cause mine doesn't have holes on the top
You have to drill them yourself
It's scary how much you sound like Jim Browning
Hey Chris, this is a really good looking desk and I want to build a very similar one but I'm wondering, do you find the table top depth of 65 cm to be enough? For now, I just have the stand my monitor came with and I'm worried the space might be a bit cramped.
Where's links?
It's such a bummer you can't find those Alex drawers anywhere, every ikea is ALWAYS sold out.
Brendan Rodgers is that you?
Very Informative. I suggest replacing the white Alex file cabinets with black ones, however. With everything else black, they would be more integrated.
I like the white more
Hi there are you going to do more fishing videos m8
Yes come the spring (unless I get a good day before then). Plan to work hard over winter with the PC builds and then take it easy with them over the summer and spend more time on the boat.
I can't get those draws in the UK
theyre discontinuing the brand in london. You can only get the wooden and beige colour
Do you really have to have that middle stand to hold the desk just asking??
If you don't want it to bend and snap, yes. You do.
uhh jim browning?
Is this Jim Brownings alter ego?
Ikea wants to charge me $130 for shipping to get 2 alex's ><
Not in stock in the store 2 hours from me, i would drive if they had them guaranteed.
Anyone know what ikea would do if i spent $130 on shipping and one/both came damaged? Would i be 100% screwed?
I thought these were discontinued ?
@@VyruhsTV Apparently theres a new model, but finding it on their website take some trickery
isn't it too tall? the alex is already 70cm tall. i'm having this dilemma, what's the advantage?
Trust me it’s too short
Ergonomic working height for a 6 foot human is 70-78cm
I like it so much 🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦
Thanks
@@ChristopherFlannigan I will run you video playlist bc ur videos help me to build pc and to install software thank u 🙏 so much I like the way how u explaining u make it very easy
You and Jim Browning have the same voice wth
Am I the only one having the problem that my legs dont fit under that desk comfortably ? I always bumb my wall : c
1:17 ziehen um
great setup. but these tables sag :(. they're cheaply made.
You sound like the dude who hacks scammers
