His commentary is honestly me talking to myself when I work on cars
That's a sexy blade, regardless of the forge time. You taking lunch in the middle is such a power move and I respect that.
They should do a Forged in Fired: Judges Edition.
That would be awesome!
Great idea!
Yes just yes
who would judge the judges?
It will "Kill" (keeel)... Great idea, and bring back some contestants that remember j neilson bashing their blades to fail next tests.. and bash up his.. lol. And Doug just let him stab the shit out of the ballistics dummies as normal... let's see who crumbles under time pressure
"I'm acting all calm right now but the last two hours I'm gonna get all crazy" proceeds to be calm the whole time. What a master of his craft. That was a joy to watch. Also, he seems like such a cool dude.
Chris Lo I know Jason personally. He doesn’t get freaked out, at least not that I’ve ever seen. He is by far, one of the neatest guys on earth to talk to.
After binge watching a pile of Forged In Fire, this is really cool to see. I found your easy to reach short term floor storage technique especially instructive.
I like that we finally get to see his personality. Love his sense of humor.
Be good to see you tag a few smiths, get the 4 hour challenge going. If it wasn't already, it should now be considered set. Great video.
I'm also a fellow south Carolinian who is getting into the art of Dinking around with steel. I'm glad I found your Channel I am learning a lot !
So this is the real Forged in Fire 🤘
Bad to the bone. I need that. Jason and Winkler are my 2 GOATS. I will rep them till the day I die. True masters of their craft and so much more.
I am a 57 year old NOOB who got bit by the bug watching forged in fire. My forge is almost done have he tongs, hammers and anvil with enough desire for 2 people.
Thank you for taking the time for these videos. Enough watching... let me go pound some steel.
I would like to think that even if he was the only person in the shop, he'd still be talking to himself hahaha. So enjoyable to watch!
I miss you on the show, I like the other guys on there also. It always seemed like you pulled for the smiths in a different way. When J. Nielson would see a flaw he would try to destroy it. You always seemed to be more fair. All that aside i did not realize how Zen and chill you are. It is a pleasure to watch you work and overcome the challenges that pop up. Like going to a coffin shape when you realized it was going to be a wrap. Definitely the "Bob Ross" of master smithing.
You're awesome Jason thanks for being you and my Facebook friend!!!
This is first time I have watched a Jason video. On FIF, I come away with the impression of a man devoid of a sense of humor. I'm glad to see I was wrong.
I like Jason's irreverent style. A wrap of joking around, but with a core of seriousness.
A san mai approach!
Yeah Jason is a based guy and he has an excellent name too.
@2:46 I was 1/2 expecting Wil Willis to scream "Gentlemen your design period is now over!"
Hi Jason.,..great video!...we miss you on Forged in Fire!...Take care brother!
So glad you’re posting videos. Miss seeing you on forged in fire.
hey Jason, i like they way you remained cool throughout.
Really cool shape and finished build. Made it look fairly simple from great planning and a lot of experience. Glad I found your channel as enjoyable vids and enjoy the banter that shows how much you enjoy what your doing. Looking forward to more!
Hanging out with Jason Knight for one day would be the most mind blowing experience! Haha
I was lucky enough to talk to him for a few minutes at blade show last year. What was awesome to me is that he approached me, not the other way around. I didnt want to bother him. He gave me some very solid advise on power hammers.
This craft has some really good people within it. I’ve been making things with my hands since I was a kid but after my 10 years in the Army I found Blacksmithing/bladesmithing I knew I found my forever home. I’m 35 but I look up to guys like Jason that so passionately advocate for the prestige of being a maker.
I totally agree with you. This craft is full of makers that actually enjoy helping other makers so we can all learn from each other. I've been smithing for 3 years and one of the highlights so far has been talking to Jason.

before i started blacksmithing i would have looked at 4 hours and like some of you i would have thought "ez W'' but after taking 10+ hours of hard ass work to pound round stock into a ok-ish scythe i have a whole new appreciation for this.
Need more of Jason Knight and his chattering. Love it!
Very cool. I mean your style. And your skill is beyond skill. It’s masterful. Thank you.
My favorite judge, and always wanted to see a judge attempt their own challenge, and Jason does it in even less time plus lunch! Fucking bad ass, and sick looking knife.
I swear to god if Forged in Fire was just a Jason Knight show I wouldn't be mad.
Exactly how a master Smith should be. Cool, calm, and collective
The ease with you work clearly indicates your experience with the entire process. As you said have a plan and follow it smoothly. Your no nonsense way about handling the steel is something to behold. I hear your jokes and see you dance but the the master craftsman cannot hide when you're working the material. A pleasure to watch, thank you for creating the video.
I like that the power hammer was synced to the "hey".
I love the fact that you can do this in 4 hrs. I can barely get a blade forged and heat treated in 3. Impressive though. Thanks for taking us along Jason.
Good video! Looked like a fun challenge and filmed well. Bjorn
Awesome to watch a master smith working under time constraint and see what you come out with.
That is an incredibly beautiful knife. He’s such a beast with a style all his own. 🔥🔥
simply love the you you are! Keep on pushing the limits. I always learn lots and love the humour... !!!
A beast. Love the format of the show. Love to see you have 2 days and what you would come up with.
I watched a video about how forged in fire was too hard to do in 6 hours, and you did it in 4. That's too funny.
That's one badass looking Samurai/bowie/chopper! Mad skills...I need to learn how Jason gets such an incredible edge on his blades!
You were a great judge on the show! Hope that's not all in the past. Couldn't subscribe to this channel fast enough. :D Woot!
@@JasonKnightMS Well then, you can be sure I'll be right here doing just that :D Thanks for that!
Alright then, keep your secrets
I love the idea of challenge videos like this. You should make more of these when you have the time. That knife looks great man!
Cool handle gonna have to try that. Nice work
It is amazing how many mistakes you have to make to get to this level of knife making. I love the trick with the letter.
Shows up the the guys on forged in fire, no moaning and excuses here, job done no fuss no bother.👍👍👍👍
Just fun to watch what you can accomplish when you have 30,000 + hours of experience. Love the blade.
Just "dinking" around for four hours and turned out a rad knife! Thanks for the great lesson, keep them coming.
Hey Jason this Mike Martin south Carolina my son use to work at Carolina pizza company in Boone north Carolina he had told me came in there and he meet you he I just subscribe to your channel I look forward to watching your videos
I would love to see you make a pocket folding knife in that blade style! That blade is a thing of beauty.
Greatest knife ever? No...A knife I would bet my life on and one I would be proud to own / love to own? ABSOLUTELY...Thank you for bringing us along for the making of this. Definitely inspiring and great to watch a master plying his craft.
Just found your channel Jason. I really enjoyed this episode, and subscribed. Your talent speaks for itself, so what really surprised me was how much your personality "improved" outside the History Channel's studio. You're a cool cat and gifted craftsman rather than someone who's only tolerated because of their superb skills.
I can't wait to catch up on your videos and plan to dive into blade smithing (and your online classes) once I get some garage space to call mine.
Love watching a professional at his craft show you how to do it!
You are an incredible forger .....four hours and made it easily .
Insane. Beautiful. You make it look so easy.
That was totally awesome, fun to watch a maker in his element.
Awesome as always 👍🏼 I love the compound grind. Thank you for sharing Jason 🙏🏻
Away from the restraints of Tv! This is the man i thought you were! Gifted and human! Not a machine!
That was badass
I remember seeing Jason in a blade magazine long before forged in fire was around. And he had a test where he would chop into a moose antler. In made me rethink what a blade was capable of and strive to make better knives.
Awesome! Great job Mr. Knight
George Herron's grandson here just found your channel nice job I dig it
Ya know mr. Knight. Dude I love your videos and I find you to be a true inspiration to follow ones dreams. I want to be a blade and armour Smith. Been making chainmail for 14 years. Still getting better at it. But I haven't really got into forging. Finding a bloody anvil is frustrating. Should have got that one when I was in the army. Oh well. Im sure one will pop up at some point. Until then I will keep dreaming and watching your videos.
Love your work!
I really want to begin knife smithing... but I have no idea where to start. It seems it takes money to make money, of course... but there are things I still don't understand.
Love your videos! I'll always keep watching, learning, and sharing.
God bless
Jason Knight, Excellentay. The Man with a Plan. Knight Saber. thanx a bunch.
5:57 asking the real questions here! This dude is the man right here! So amusing
Very cool.....thanks for sharing. Something very powerful about crafting something that can literally last a life time...my 87 yr old dad has left a legacy in wood working and masonry for his family and friends...it really makes me appreciate the talent and craft that others possess.
just fantastic Jason congratulations
Absolutely fantastic! Always full of my kinda humor, inspired to make a knife everytime I watch!
Love watching you work. Your a true artist, love your blades.
Awesome knife! I was looking forward to watching this. Especially since I'm hand sanding today.
Great video. Shows how even under a time constraint you don't need to freak out! Think of the process...... do your work. Issues will always arise. Think outside the box get it done. Thanks for taking us to your home Forge.
Jaws.... 45 yrs later it's STILL an awesome movie.
Great video, thanks for posting!
Great job Jason.
I agree that the attitude on this challenge compared to forged in fire is quite different. The blade looked great i cant wait until i can get back to making knives again.
Beautiful job man and as always love the content.
Just stumbled onto your channel and all I can say is that is an awesome blade for 4 hours.......you truly are a Master.
Super job! That shop is pretty special.
Love your you tube channel. Keep them coming !!
This one of my favorite videos ever that you’ve made. I like the general spirit throughout.
I have to say, it's a treat to watch a master beating away at his craft. In awe at the size of those mitts you've got too!
Great video Jason!
Fantastic confidence and amazing skills. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Really enjoyed the video. Very cool.

Outstanding design and size! Fun watching you work this blade! Keep them coming.....
Very nice Video! It was fun to watch
Beautiful work
Love the double grind!
Fantastic video, friggin hilarious. Great work, thanks Jason.
I absolutely love the rough forged look and that was an excellent time saving idea on the handle! Super video editing especially during the reveal of the knife after the cut test! Great work guys!
Awesome, glad you are on youtube.
Nice. I like the hollow grind to flat grind. It was funny to see the clock creep up on you. It got a little more serious after a bit 😆.
It was great to watch and very informative as well
Amazing as always keep the videos coming get to laugh and learn 👍👍👊
Thanks Jason!
