Rotten Refrigerator

- We picked up this villa from the owner after tenant had moved out and the electricity had been out for about four months. There was a nice looking refrigerator still in the kitchen, but open the doors and OMG, the smell of four month old unconditioned food. Look at the trail of meat juice in the driveway and notice the maggots on some of the food items!
You can still save that box. Done it before. Have to clean the snot out of it. On accident I turned off the frig for 1.5 months on vacation. Got home to a lovely smell, OUTSIDE the front door. Thought a dog died in that apartment. LOL

Best way is eliminate the spill or what ever caused the odor in the
first place. Coffee, newspaper, baking soda and charcoal do not work to
ELIMINATE it. You have to remove EVERYTHING in the freezer and frig
side, wipe with a sprayed 10% bleach solution and reassemble. This means
the evaporator in the freezer needs sprayed down too. A thorough clean
is called for.

Okay...I'm a late middle-aged professional, and this shouldn't have happened to ME. (But, it DID!) The Electricians never put a weather head on my early Sixties house. I somehow got away with it all these years, but was starting to have brownout conditions when it rained. It took a LONG time to get an Electrician to come out and make repairs. As for the FRIDGE: I absolutely HAD to unplug it! A low voltage condition in the house would FRY the compressor motor. In fact, I thought my old GE refrigerator was the Problem from the noise it was making. Well...I guess I could have kept the Generac on, at least 16 hours/day, but it's noisy and inefficient. I was a Dumbass for not cleaning out the freezer and fridge immediately, and maybe leaving it open. LOTS of mold and maggots. I had a flu-like illness recently (maybe from the bad smells) and let things slide. I don't think I can EVER decontaminate that puppy!

Guys fuzzy food is mold and mold can damage everything people are so gross
