- In this video, we're going through the interviews of Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt, as well as the jail calls of both, and the interviews with Kevin Franke. Did Ruby and Jodi actually have a change of heart from their arrest? Did Jodi brainwash Ruby? Why did Kevin seemingly not know about the wellbeing of his own children?
CONTEXT:
On August 30, 2023, Ruby Franke (of the family vlogging channel 8 Passengers) and Jodi Hildebrandt were arrested and later charged with multiple counts of child ab*se after one of Ruby's children knocked on doors in the neighborhood they were staying in to ask for food and water. In February 2024, both women were sentenced to a 4-year-minimum prison term after pleading guilty to their charges. Over the last weekend, the DA released evidence of the crimes to the public, to include photos and body camera footage depicting the injuries to the children, as well as jail calls by the women and interviews with Ruby, Jodi, and Ruby's husband, Kevin Franke.

Police showing more kindness to Jodie’s shoulder than she ever showed to the poor children
We heard about the condition the kids were in, but I think the majority of us were still shocked by the photos.
Words do not do justice to what the children endured. Those were not rope burns, they were deep open woulds. They weren’t just hungry and skinny , they were wasting away, literally. Ruby was looking for more land to do even more to her children, undetected.
I think we needed to see the photos.

I got sick when I saw those photos. Ruby didn’t think they needed the hospital stay. I hate these women. I don’t care if Ruby was supposedly influenced. Her poor kids.
@@eleanorsvenson2958 Ruby was a cruel mother before she met Jodi. Jodi already had a history of abusing children through behavioral therapy. Two bad women got together and committed torture on children. One didn’t need to manipulate the other because they were both already there.

I honestly don't think that lil big had another week to live & the lil girl didn't have much more! These women got nowhere near what they deserved!! I'm so sickened by this! I haven't studied it & all but convinced I can listen to much more. Thx, tho for covering this!! I may hafta go, tho. No respect. I had to stop listening to the prosecutor. His lackadaisical attitude made me sick!! Ruby & Jody were nothing more than friends & buz associates? Um... did he not listen to Kevin? I get why Kevin wasn't charged. He was clueless about waaayyy too much!! It landed alerts it belonged but those women didn't get neat enough time!!! Utah law needs an overhaul! They need more ability to chg child AB cases.

Worse, in court, as I understand it, Jodi blames it on the KIDS!! They were supposedly being punished for SAing other kids! I may be wrong but I heard this in another chat.
I can’t stand how nonchalant she is EVEN STILL, when talking about the kids. She just casually mentions Eve still being in there and being fed pizza, then loaded into an ambulance. She speaks more of her and Jodi humming HYMNS IN THE BACK OF THE COP CAR!! It’s obvious that’s she’s still very VERY distorted, as she would say. Sick.

Yeah, she is apostate and I hope someone’s working on some excommunication for her and her little cult.
The church was recommending Jodi to anyone that needed a therapist.

@@hollymckenna1432 Except not just her. The church has a list of therapists that can help members having struggles beyond the scope of the local leaders to help with. I went to one when struggling with the grief over my dad’s death. Most of them are fine. Jodi was not. Part of why she was not is because of the board that handles licensure in UT is crap. The church doesn’t vet the therapists, afaik, but relies on their professional credentialing organization to do that.
@@jedipingHer credentials had been suspended due to telling others what a patient had shared in therapy and getting him fired from BYU. That alone should have given the Bishop promoting her with the churches blessing pause. Yet it didn’t.
Kevin's 2nd interview is a big difference from his 1st interview it is eye opening

Yes it makes it worse by what he says in the 2nd interview. Then knowing how weird Jody was and how Ruby was doing strange things he just leaves his kids. He asks about his wife more than his kids to. All shocking
In the 2nd interview, he tells police he "saw Jodi move objects with her mind" and speak in demonic tongues.
He's just as insane as the two of them are, and is now pivoting to try to make Jodi out to be the "evil demon" who some how had he and Ruby under her "satanic control." 🙄
Anything but admit guilt and accept personal responsibility.
So the husband never saw or checked on his children ?????
It is but I don't see how he could have started seeing the light in that short a time. I think it was only a couple weeks between 1st and 2nd interview. Kevin puzzles me.

2:38:42 Kevin Franke just seems so dense! I get that he’s under a lot of pressure because of the situation, but to not know what emaciated means, seems especially odd. He also didn’t seem to understand what the officers were telling him about the kids being in medical custody. Add to that, he just checked out of his kids’ life for a year because his wife “invited” him to leave.
I think he knows the definition, he was asking him to provide a definition to push back passively. He doesn’t believe they’re emaciated. In my opinion.

A professor and engineer who doesn't know the word "emaciated?" I know! And he said it as if he really didn't know or understand the word. He's dumb. Dumb people are easier to manipulate and prime pickings for cults.
How do you justify what they did to those kids? You cannot ! They cannot ! Period!!!!!
I wonder if Kevin was excited that Ruby was talking to him again after she got arrested since he seems to have some weird simp energy and she had cut him off for so long
I wonder the same thing! Such a simp. I really suspect his divorce filing is all for show. He knows he can’t get custody of the kids if he’s still married to Ruby the abuser. He needs custody so he can influence the kids into forgiving Ruby. If they forgive Ruby, she can come back home and he can have her again.
@@lisaa3978 I don’t think she will ever be allowed to live in the home with her minor children and depending on the length of her sentence she won’t be bunking with anyone but Jodie for a while. But he could be thinking long game for sure. The good news is that all of his children will be adults by the time she comes out (likely) and won’t ever have to forgive her if they don’t want

No Jodi, you CAN raise your children; you CANNOT abuse them
In my opinion, Jodi and Ruby were on the same page. They both exhibited abusive behaviors before they're meeting of the minds, and there isn't the power imbalance that exists with Jodi's other victims. Ruby had her own celebrity and church endorsement of sorts, they were on equal footing. They just combined their techniques on those poor kids. Also, I fully believe Kevin knew those kids were being abused. He might not have known the extent or the everyday actions, but he doesn't once ask how his kids are. Even when they ask him if he knows their physical condition, he's not surprised or concerned, he doesn't ask what's going on or if his kids are OK.
It came out later Ruby is the one that called him to pick up the kids. Jody was on the phone with her lawyer when cops showed up at her door. Ruby said Jody got lawyers for each out them and the lawyer gave Kevin his number for Ruby to call. It’s weird he didn’t want to say that.
Chad told his siblings they were going to Disney when they were not as a prank and lost his bed for 9 months. Another one was a 5 year old forgot her lunch and the teacher called. Ruby told the teacher not to give her food and she had to learn her lesson.
Ruby and Kevin seemed to withhold food as punishment quite a bit I heard on 8 passangers
I really wonder if Jodi was 'spiking' her clients with something. And wow, talk about being systematically being conditioned...

Jodi is worse!! She, as I was told in another stream, blamed it on the kids in the end!! She acted SOOOO innocent & of course, is far, far from it!! She's repulsive! How the prosecuter stated some of the things he did made me sick!
Jodi sidled right up to them, said she's sat on their side, the psychologist tell... she REALLY thinks she can get out of being kept.. cause they don't think they're under arrest at this juncture,I don't think. I've not delved to much into this cause I figured I couldn't handle it & for the most part, I can't. I have steam coming out of my ears within 2 mins with these women!!

Hello, thank you for your coverage and your respectful comments about the Mormon religion. I just want to say this is not at all representative of members of the church of Jesus Christ. I live in Utah and went to byu, have been a member most of my life and all of this just seems like justified abuse using religious verbiage. Our religion is so focused on the family and the care and love of children. It is sacrilegious in my option to involve the church and the gospel in terrible actions. I also happen to have gone to Jodi 12 years ago for marriage counseling, she was pretty intimidating to me, but she was pretty normal and was helpful for the little bit we saw her. I’m am so shocked by all of this, I would have never guessed. Yikes!!! Just want to clarify that our religion does not view children this way at all, it breaks my heart.

If I were told any of that I would immediately be demanding to see my children, or asking more questions about their physical state. I understand he was blindsided but there was almost no curiosity before or after. Not one question about the little girl, either. Even in the second interview, when he talked about the children it was with shared experiences with HIM. He's very "me me me me". I hope those kids have been put in a kind foster home.

Everyone needs to watch the Adam Paul Steed's Mormon stories interview. Kevins situation sounds alot like his.
I couldn't understand why he made no effort to contact his kids until he mentioned the porn addiction thing, that sounds like the sort of thing Ruby would have demonised and told him to stay away and repent, he should have tried to make contact with them but I couldn't be surprised if Ruby/the church had convinced him that he was the problem and until he wasn't having 'deviant thoughts' he should stay away from the kids. (I also wouldn't be surprised if his porn addiction was just 'sometimes has sexual thoughts' some churches are so convinced sex=sin)
He's a crap dad, and clearly allowed some abuse to occur while he was in the home, but I Ruby definitely stepped it up once he'd left
It really sucks that so many awful people use religion as an excuse for what they've done 'God says it's right therefore I'm right and no one can question me' if your interpretation of a book is the *only* justification for what you're doing then you're probably doing something awful- 'be charitable' yep, that's in the book but also a compassionate thing to do, 'torture your kids because you think they're possessed by demons' no no no!
If you can't find a non religious way to justify what you're doing you probably should think twice about doing it if there are reasons not to (if you want to put ash on your forehead on ash wednesday go for it, like sure go for it, it's not hurting anyone)
