  • I have purchased many 3D printed accessories for projects recently. This video will be a quick review of a number of these that I find interesting and some that have some issues.

    DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to promote any specific products or brands; I just use the products I find work best for me through my experiences. There is no reason for me to promote a bad product, as then I would not enjoy using it, not like the result on my model, and not be proud of publicizing it in a video. There's also no point in me doing this to keep up relations with a company if the only benefit would be getting more of the same products that I didn't like. I have not used every product out there, but from what I have used, I keep using the products I like, and that's why I use them in my videos. You can use whatever other products you would like to and you can feel that they are better - that is your opinion, and is perfectly fine by me, thus I hope that feeling is reciprocated.

    Did thoroughly enjoy this one. It's not just "this is good and that's bad". It's how you explained why, and how to look for what's important. Thanks ☕🐢

    That was a nice general comparison between all the stuff these new brands throw out there. Pros and cons as always, really helpful to hear your thoughts on it, especially since you have used a few of those things already. Saves us a lot of headaches :)

    Awesome review/comparison, honest and very thorough, I like that you even compared among the same brand! 👍
    My biggest criticism is the cost of some of these parts! 😮 I get that it's not simply about the cost of material - that design, manufacture, inventory, advertising, etc all add to the cost. Still, the mark-up on many of these is just ridiculous! And then, the quality on some of these is left wanting?

    Thank you for a very helpful video. I've always wondered what was good or bad in 3d printed stuff and now I know thanks again.

    Hi Evan
    A great review mate!
    I’ve picked up so many of the kits that you mentioned but haven’t got around to using them yet.
    It does get a bit confusing as to what is good and which to avoid.
    Thanks for sharing your very informative video presentation ❤😊

    The DB 3D printed T-34 engine deck intake grills look good. They would really be nice on the RFM kits!

    Yes good to see the faults of the clamps after getting them too, and not using them as too small to hold tools, or equipment it out there but never fixed.

    I haven't made the dive into resin parts yet. I have been doing photo etch, but have been thinking about using some resin parts for my next Stug III. Glad you put out this video, because I would not have thought of the most accurate parts not working.

    Great Video 👍I recently built the tracks for Porsche's Jagdtiger (Dragon) from DemonBarber Design. Top notch quality and easy to put together although each link consist of five parts and two pins.

    You're right, FC is garbage. I tried out three things to give them a chance and there was warpage on a Hercules trailer that could not be fixed and tracks and wheels printed together for the Maulter set of trucks which look like they will break when I try to remove the casting gates. The only thing that will work was a front seat for a Blitz truck or Mauter that has the seat correctly divided into two parts so that petrol could be put in the vehicle. This is a one piece casting so there shouldn't be any trouble.
    It may interest you that Tiger Model Designs, which shut down last year is going to reopen, I know Joe well, and he says he will concentrate at first at making new masters for some of their small items. What I like about Joe's stuff is that his resin pieces fit well and though they require clean up a lot of the time, they don't break like 3D can and if misshapen they can be easily fixed in hot water. He will open again at the beginning of August. He also has a master model maker, Karl VanSweden, whom I have a great friendship with and together they were able to make a full interior for the Tamiya M10 that is affordable and sharp. Same with the M18, but not a full interior. I hope you will give them a try, and my friendship with them does not mean that I get any money for referring people to them. Honestly, there are some 3D printed parts that are better than resin offers, but at the same time, the reverse is true, and certainly when you consider the price at TMD.

    Awesome! Thanks for doing an evaluation of a wide variety of 3-D printed parts from a number of manufacturers!👍👍BTW, I will echo your comments re FC Model stuff. I ordered parts to replace the 'screens' on a Tamiya KV-1, and they did not fit & looked like sh*t. They just went in the garbage can!😠Finally, FWIW, I agree 100% re the excellence of MJ Minatures tool clamps! 👍👍

    That's a very useful video. I'm not sure how to go about my own work going forward. I think I'll do some tests on full on replacing the clamp and tool like we talked about. But both options should exist. When I was doing tests a few years ago I did a scale progression from real 35th up a bit 4 or 5 times. My printer then couldn't handle the detail, but now that I have a tankraft printer and a Mars 3 I should get back to it. I'm just a retard. But I can see lots of these I would use. But they're getting ridiculous with how many and how much. We'll see.

  • @OsamaBenFartin
    @OsamaBenFartin Před 11 měsíci

    I’ve only tried the MJ tool clamps. Nicely detailed, but they are so brittle! I’ve destroyed so many of them while cutting them off of the sprue. I’ll have to try some of these other brands.

    • @Panzermeister36
      @Panzermeister36  Před 11 měsíci +1

      My set is alright. I trim the supports under the handle first, then under the clamp. That gives me a higher success rate but I still probably break 1 out of every 8 or so clamps. At least the sets have a ton of clamps.

    Wonderful review I am working on a Hetzer build and I did order a Rochm 5t jacks RP35042 (Hetzer/Marder) kit (thank you for showing the 10t jacks) I have have two questions 1) do you recommend the Stug Iii Lithokraft Jack Rest Blocks you showed in this video for a Hetzer?
    And 2) the T-Rex Panzer fire extinguishers would you also recommend for a Hetzer kit?

    Thanks for the Video, this was realy helpful and gave me a good overview on a quickly overcrowding market. I mostly used 3d printed parts that came with Rye Fields Update Sets for their own kits and Elephant Sets. I'm not really happy with the Quality of Elephant. I found their products to be very brittle and their german fire extinguishers have visible layer lines and are not very round because of that. Did you make the same observation? Maybe I just had an early and therefore less refined batch.

    Having never used these type of parts some look to be printed directly to the support base with no legs between the base and the actual clamp.
    How would you remove those from the base without breaking them?
    Thanks in advance for any replies
