      I got one, same color as test car in this video, 1/8/22. I've owned more expensive and "nicer" cars, but this IS 500 is probably the most fun car I've owned in 15 years. What's nice is also that, being a Lexus, unless someone knows what it is, the car doesn't attract too much attention.

      @@GrandHuevotes Designed in 2012? That’s a stupid, misinforming comment, which shows you don’t know what you’re talking about at all. Same for the upvoting clowns who apparently don’t know any better either.
      That car’s design is even older, because it already existed in production spec in late 2010 from what I personally recall. The XE30 3rd generation IS initial pre-refresh run (2013-16), was designed from January 2009 to August 2010. Not 2012.
      2014MY IS Styling never changed one bit, from design freeze in early 2011 at Toyota City HQ, Aichi to market launch in July 2013, not literally 2014. Apparently you don’t get that Model Years are released the YEAR before.
      NOW THAT’S how and WHEN it was developed. Look it up, very easy to find thanks to me.
      This “reskinned” XE30 II? Designed from 2016 to 2018, reusing the New N platform, an aging adaptation of N Platform launched in 2003 (2005 for IS)
      Not sure why many of you comment ignorantly on stuff you aren’t even certain about and give a misleading impression with your lazy ignorance.
      Please do your research first or just don’t lazily comment from the side of your mouth, because BS info just seems to be everywhere as a result and stupid rumors come out of it as usual.

    • @jmin8400
      @jmin8400 Před 2 lety +2

      @The Hungry Joe It was definitely inspired, I recall the alternative designs put forward.
      The design effort above, was originally developed for GA-L modular architecture, but teething issues came about and the new IS design got adapted to the aging New N, a RWD platform that debuted on the outgoing GS in 2011-2012 and has never been shared with any Toyota badged vehicle.
      Looks great in person, compared to the G20 3er and new W206 Benz.

    I am a Lexus fan but I wish they can step it up and truly build a car that can compete with the likes of a true AMG and M cars. They can do it if they wanted to.
    *** To elaborate. When the IS-F came out it was suppose to be the beginning of Lexus's version of the "AMG/M/RS" line. There was a lot of hype where people were saying Lexus is finally going to compete with the "big boys". It never really came to fruition. It just fizzled out. There were rumors of a "600 HP GS" or "660HP LC-F" yada yada yada but to date there is nothing. I truly believe it fizzled out because they are thinking of a profitability point of view and cater to the mass market *instead* of a small niche.
    I just wish Lexus would say "You know what, screw this, profit or not, lets build a collection of cars/suvs/convertibles and SHOW EVERYONE that we can hang or *even surpass* the AMGs/Ms/RSs of the world "
    I hate to say this because I am a Lexus fan and owner but they will never be considered the "big boys" until they have a category like the AMGs, Ms, RSs etc.

    • @tracybrovan3997
      @tracybrovan3997 Před 2 lety +4

      @@YTdelsCmts4NoRsn Right. Their F cars were originally intended to finally "take on" the German rivals but Lexus in my opinion never really went "all in" financially to do it. Technically they CAN do it but I'm speculating they are looking at it more of it is it "worth it". If Lexus really wants to be considered in the same conversation when talking AMG, M and RS they have to say "F*ck it" and finally build some halo cars.

    It's not great looking from the rear. But the front is surprisingly not as offensive as all other Lexus cars. Really too bad about no manual transmission. Lexus is still very confused about the role of the IS. Nobody is going to take this to the track without a manual transmission, and therefore it's just another heavy cruiser.

    Lexus is toying with performance sedans. The market just isn't there. Spent those years developing arguably one of the best V10s ever in the LFA and it pushed the company nowhere. F Sport is no more than cosmetic with parts bin from the warehouse. I honestly don't see why they would try and compete with BMW or Mercedes in the performance sedan segment. It makes no sense and if you look at the BMW and MB, their lines have been completely watered down by having nearly every vehicle badged with M or AMG......makes no sense.

      The LFA was more of an engineering exercise. Even with it's ridiculous price tag, Toyota still lost a decent bit of money on each one. The LFA's are sick, but they weren't made to make a profit.

    • @YeahYall
      @YeahYall Před 2 lety

      @@Kcducttaper1 correct in the sense that Toyota has always been about engineering. I can't fathom why a company would spent resources to not make a profit. R&D allocations are utilized specifically for the end product which generates the revenue longer term. As far as the LFA, Toyota arrived to late to the super car game. No one took them serious in that arena. This whole forced induction is definitely a gamechanger for them as well. Buttery smooth is their penchant. Nothing smooth about spooling turbos. Nonetheless with their hybridization prowess I suspect that they'll be in the driver's seat again with economy and pzev again.
