That cop could've and should've prevented all of that! He should've never been able to get back behind that wheel. Send that cop back to the academy so he can start over.
Joseph McMurray I totally agree. Here in the state of Queensland in Australia, Police are required by law to abandon a pursuit once speeds exceed 60 kilometres per hour (or somewhere around that mark) for the precise reason you state.
You need to learn the use of force. The cop didnt have many options. The taser didn't work (fucking shocker there, not like they fail 5% of the time) and he was really only left with his gun, which is only allowed if there is immediate life threatening danger. If he did what you wanted, you'd be bitching over excessive force. (Thb, I think that's why he DIDN'T shoot to stop him from putting the public in danger.
@@lodiamoore7933 that's actually autism. To criminals thats saying "reach this speed and you escape" like, fuck...if I could rob a store, Jack a car and get to 120 mph for money I would. But here, the cops have ZERO chance of letting you away. You either stop yourself or they will stop you deadly or not, their pay will be unaffected.
Jack Skudlarek Laws prohibiting Police pursuits once the prescribed speed nominated by the relevant statute is reached might indeed - albeit inadvertently - send the message to criminals that it is okay to rob banks and then step on the accelerator if and when engaged by Police. Life can be insured too.......but make no mistake about it: no one is capable of coming back from death caused by a fleeing vehicle driven by a criminal or even a Police car.
Looks like the officer needed back up. He barely used any force at all. I think this is the time when no one would question whether he should've used force or not. It's the guy's own fault he's dead though. Lucky he didn't kill the people in that truck or someone else
Easier said than done sometimes. Have you ever been in a police uniform? Some people get power when drinking or doing drugs and then just want to fight
It always amazes me when cops don't get the keys to the car first. The first thing they should do when dealing with a potentially drunk driver is to get the keys to make certain that they can't drive away.
How in the world did that cop let that man get back into that car and why didn't he reach in there and grab his keys? My God, it would take ten times the effort to tase the guy as it would to just sit on him, and he was already on top of him at one point.
When was the last time you were in a car? The ignition is on the right side of the steering column it would be awful hard to reach in against a struggling suspect that only wants to avoid a dui charge
I understand where you're coming from my friend but if you look at the video and see how fast he sped off even after being tased. If the officer knew that tasing him would have no effect he would have pulled out his side arm and blew him away. But obviously there is no way he knew. 95% of people that are tased stop instantly unfortunately he was in the 5% tile.
I can't believe the cop couldn't keep him from getting in his car and driving away. Cops shoot unarmed guys for a lot less and this one lets this drunk guy get into a 3500 lbs 200 hp weapon.
if the cop shot him would you be out there bitching about police brutality? Based on your comment I really don't wanna know the answer, its clear you live in your own little world.
Mike Ayers The cops have a lot of tools and are supposed to know when and how to use them. I don't remember saying anything about shooting this guy. Shooting someone is not the only way to control them. Or he could have simply taken the keys out of the ignition at the start
Well, lets go over the tools and the use of force. The force continuum is as follows, constructive, (or your presence) physical, mechanical, and deadly. Law enforcement are suppose to only use one run above what a suspect is using. Another-words If a person resists arrest an officer may use mechanical force, If the suspect has a bat or pipe, officers my use deadly force. Here is the kicker though. If during the process of arrest the suspect resists and the officer strokes using his fist, sending the suspect to the ground, and the suspect dies of his injuries, the court see’s this as an application of deadly force. If the officer swings his PR-24 and strikes the suspect on the back of the neck paralyzing them, it is an application of deadly force. Even the use of OC, which as of right now is under consideration to have its own rung for use, if it causes an allergic reaction the officer is responsible. It is because of the “What if’s” that many officers kind of think twice about the use of some of their tools. Here we have a drunk who is resisting arrest but not really attacking the officer outside of pulling away from him. When the suspect finally swings at the officer the officer responds by discharging his taser. Unfortunately one of the prongs missed, or the suspect was unaffected by the shock due to the alcohol in his system. In school officers are also taught to never climb inside an occupied vehicle. This is because of an increase of subjects grabbing the officer and dragging them down the road, resulting in injuries that bring on an early retirement. I cant tell if the vehicle was running or not but the suspect seemed to take off right away when the officer had backed off. I guess its possible either way. Officers are also instructed to not shoot at cars except as a last resort and with proper training. This is to prevent drivers from being killed, leaving a 1 ton vehicle rolling without an operator. As for the shooting comment, This is a quote from your post, “Cops shoot unarmed guys for a lot less…” Is the cop perfect, no, nobody is. But I think he was trying to resolve the situation without serious injuries or death to the involved party's.
A little street justice for that drunk guy. Thankfully, the two guys in the white truck made it alive. The initial officer did a few things wrong. First, he should have reached over and taken the guy's keys when he was on the other side of his car finding the bottle of Vodka. Second, he should have called for backup. When a suspect doesn't obey the first order, the the red flag should have gone up.
If it was me as a first responder, I would completely ignore the suspect, no matter how badly he was injured. I'd tend the the innocent victims first, even if they only bumped their elbow on the window.

You are the same type of person that would want the cop fired for using too much Force. Why dont you stick to your job and let the Cops do theirs? Or you can be a Cop yourself if you are man enough.
The cop should of never let that guy make it back to his car. Tasers are not as effective as everyone thinks, and once a suspect gets physical with an officer in any way, the officer can do whatever they feel necessary to defend themselves! I would of been punching, kicking, hitting with flashlight, and maybe even shooting that dude! He would of never made it back into the drivers seat and drove off, because we all know what's guaranteed to happen next, that's right, fatal accident! This is the only video I've seen where the drunk driver died, and nobody else, it's usually the other way around!
Rex Luminus Yes But then the victims family would come in and say “he was a good man, you should of arrested him instead of shot him” even though that’s what the guy tried to do. Police try as hard as they can not to use their guns, they only use it when absolutely necessary.
How did the officer lose control of that situation? He can't subdue one drunken idiot on his own? That pos never should of been able to get back in that car.
It's always the little drunken assholes fault..always.....no if ands or buts..its always the little drunken assholes fault.....I'm over the moon that he killed himself....
If the police hadn't chased him, that crash wouldn't have happened. They could have gotten him later, and charged him with plenty of other charges, assault, open liquor, etc. That's what happens in police chases. How many innocent civilians need to be killed before police chases are stopped? Cops love chases. It's a rush for them. They don't care who's killed. Don't get me wrong. The guy shouldn't have been driving. Neither should drunk cops. We've had a few in my town. They always get sharp lawyers & corrupt judges to get off.

I got arrested from DWI once. My case was dismissed. I also sued the police department and won a lawsuit. I made $850k from the lawsuit. You see when I got arrested 30 minutes before I had a pre-workout called RSP Dyno. The cop thought I was drunk. He was also my high school bully.

Raymond Hoover I drove drunk before and power comes out of no where slick, fluid, energy from who knows where ... so cop was being extra careful and knew little how the drunk people is quick and non tiring so easily im sure this one taght him a lesson... Light will no longer hurt more people..
he had him on the ground then he tased him!
You are the same type of person that would want the cop fired for using too much Force. Why dont you stick to your job and let the Cops do theirs? Or you can be a Cop yourself if you are man enough.
The officer was supposed to remove the keys from the ignition, and no way was that vehicle to be operable to be driven.
Just wonder where are the individuals who post signs warning drivers like this one that the cops are a head conducting a DUI checkpoint?
The cop should of never let that guy make it back to his car. Tasers are not as effective as everyone thinks, and once a suspect gets physical with an officer in any way, the officer can do whatever they feel necessary to defend themselves! I would of been punching, kicking, hitting with flashlight, and maybe even shooting that dude! He would of never made it back into the drivers seat and drove off, because we all know what's guaranteed to happen next, that's right, fatal accident! This is the only video I've seen where the drunk driver died, and nobody else, it's usually the other way around!
Well, at least it has a happy ending. Glad to hear he died!💀👏👍
What a jerky thing to say Mr. Perfect 😡
@@donhendy493 - actually, a perfect thing to say from Mr Perfect :D
I love a story with a happy ending
Good officer, we need to see more of this we really do. I have been a victim of a major crime and the police helped me and supported me.
WTF COPER YOU LET THE GUY SLIP AWAY NOW INNOCENT PEOPLE GOT HURT REAL BAD NEED BETTER TRAINING FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. ..
I'm going to have to issue you a citation for failing to spell, write and punctuate correctly.
The officer let him get away
Well, you know what happens when they use "too much" force! Dont ya?
Is this an old clip or is that an old car?
Sounds he saw the “Light”
What a “Light” weight
Light is hard to catch
perfect ending
that cop could it prevented
"that cop could it prevented"???? what do you mean??
JerardyN HernandeZ. Only if cop could of shot him on the spot
JerardyN HernandeZ. Nice English student.
reba kows. He doesn't know it yet.
Rex Luminus Yes But then the victims family would come in and say “he was a good man, you should of arrested him instead of shot him” even though that’s what the guy tried to do. Police try as hard as they can not to use their guns, they only use it when absolutely necessary.
I really enjoy reading the comments and seeing everyone have their own little catch phrase to put in words what happened to the guy that died
How did the officer lose control of that situation? He can't subdue one drunken idiot on his own? That pos never should of been able to get back in that car.
hahaha, good!!!
cops fault
smhsadley nah, I blame the drunk
Yes maybe guess
Yeah it always is, but hey, no major loss here because another idiot drunk driver is off the streets
It's always the little drunken assholes fault..always.....no if ands or buts..its always the little drunken assholes fault.....I'm over the moon that he killed himself....
So we gonna act like that Monte Carlo wasn’t moving?
Finally a DUI case where the fatality is the offender. Normally the DWI walks away unharmed.
James Mac Neil. SAVAGE ACTIONS BY ALL.
James Mac Neil cops stay high on there inflated egoes
Although the cop did pursue the drunk, he was nowhere near when the the crash occurred. It would have happened whether or not the cop gave chase.
So let the drunk on his way and hope he doesn't crash. Where do people like you come from
Your argument is baseless.
A drunk Mexican.... wow thats not something u see everyday day! smh Such a tragedy he died. I don't know how I'm gonna sleep ever again..... yea and that cop needs some retraining in everything it seems!
He's not Mexican idiot his Native American he's an American like you dumbass
what a NEO NAZI thing to say Jackass, Race doesn't matter you ignorant fuck. Do your research Whites are #1 in drunk driving and vehicular Manslaughter. Next time Change your word play a bit. Maybe try wow another Dumbass drunk AMERICAN behind the wheel again!
Or Dumbass Drunk AMERICAN behind the Keyboard again!
I know the truth hurts doesn't it..... I'm pretty sure u will get over it tho
@@TENNESSEETRACKHAWK Where are you from? Let me guess little small hick town where you drink water from a well. Drive cars with no doors fucking cousins working at a Walmart, no teeth I even bet you have a DWI or a DUI. Lay off the Meth kid!
That really sucks.... that car will never be the same 😞😭
did the white truck double back from the gas station n met him at the lights??
In all probability, no one would have died had the police not become involved.
Worse though is that many people are glad he is dead because he was a "drunk" driver.
Shameful. The society we have become is turning more and more barbaric. I fear for the future of this country.
So you think drunk drivers should not be stopped? How stupid are you?
***** hes appears to be an ass.
Kia Forte Koup Better an ass than an idiot! IDIOT!
hmmmmm......
Since you seem to love drunk drivers so much may I wish you to meet one head on!
How TF did he manage to get in the car and drive off smh
How did that guy get back in the driver's seat. Come on bro
He killed someone in a crash and killed himself in another. Why didn't the cop take the keys while searching the car? The accident with the white truck was police negligence.
When I was younger I would drink and drive it was very stupid of me. Then in 2004 I was pulled over and got a DUI that was a big eye opener for me I have not got behind the wheel while drinking since! It's not worth it I'm so glad I got pulled over.
was he legal? just wondering
That cop even had him on the ground. It should have been a done deal at that point.
Uh . Why did you let him back in the car?
He got the ultimate punishment: being sent to the man downstairs.
He went to the light😵
i hope he realized how badly he fucked up as he was dying alone
Justice was served....sorry about the man in the white truck!!!!
They could not catch a man driving a 35 yr old car. Its so sad to see how this classic was destroyed.
wow this is the 1st story i ever herd about a drunk that died. drunks never die in car crashes
Do you mean to tell me that cop allowed the man to get back in his car? Wtf?
