      Question, if you are working there why would you find it difficult to assist family back home? You earn more when you are there, you may own several pairs of shoes n clothes unlimited with wigs n might even start to get pedi n mani which some could not afford in their home country. As long as you are literate and is legal and is not disabled, you should be able to assist your poor relatives back home.

      Security was never meant for you to retire on. It was it was design to help you with a little cash flow. Most people use 401(k), pensions, and IRAs for retirement. A little FYI from an American. We do not retire off of welfare. Welfare is issued to people who are otherwise unable to take care of themselves. Also social security amounts are based off of what you made at your job and most Americans are unable to retire on that alone. Many of us have retirement plans,and investments. Others who have to live off of social security do suffer but basically this is a country of what you put in your will get out. I love Jamaica and hope to retire there. I did have the privilege of living in Westmorland in my late 40’s for 5 years so mi soon come again🙏🏾🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰bless up and good luck on America it’s not as easy as it looks🔥🔥🔥🇯🇲

Play still have that laid back attitude my parents are Jamaicans and I've always wanted to move to Jamaica I've been looking for land and don't seem to find one but that's my dream to move there, I love the piece that Jamaica gives and money is not everything a piece of mind is everything. Some come and are given every opportunity to better themselves yet they’d rather sit back and hive off of your helping them. They’d cook eat and turn down the pot and plate leaving nothing for you, they’d party and even turn you place upside down looking for what doesn’t belong to them. They disappear for weeks venturing to parts of the country not even you whom have ever visited, they’d lie to your face and treat you as a second class citizen in your own home. It’s tragic. I also explain Caucasian transferred home out there name into a Trust b4 5yrs prior to retirement age of 65 in order to get benefits. I tell family to take out money out retirement n buy a house in Jamaica because even when u finish paying for ur house in US if your retirement can't pay taxes n other bills home can be sold for taxes. Kids dump parents in retirement homes. Instead we must creat a trust with savings + social security n family memeber can pay for someone to take care of us in our OWN home n live a better quality of life with help. This is serious n we as black people need to look into future n save ourselves.

    Alot of the issues is that, most of the times family bring others into the struggle or don’t have a proper pathway for building wealth. No knowledge of how money work, tax advantage planning, legacy & estate planning. The Lack of financial literacy, lack of exposure to resources. As a financial professional I’ve come across so many clients who have no plans other than social security. There is a growing underserved community.
    Think about this? If there is a government shut down for 3months no social security checks being cut how many ppl would survive ?
    I agree with you it is better to work hard, careful planning is needed.
    The level of entitlement is crazy.
    Compare the Caribbean community Vs the Asian or Arabic communities. where they bring family here to operate business and then start their own later.
    Group economics is a must to become truly free.

    What had been highlighted here is so truthful for many who file for and maintain family from overseas. Whilst that may not be the truth for others it certainly is a fact. I’m sure many have experienced these, in addition they’d tell others behind your back you are miserable while showing their teeth to your face…

Haitians and Jamaicans have a huge advantage by having a Home Country. You guys just need to USE America as a means to boost up your homes. The Mexicans are very good about taking what they make here and Spending it at Home. Mannix here is on to something. Working in America and then Retiring in Jamrock where the money goes Further… Sadly I’m a looooooong way from retirement so I don’t know if it will be viable for me when the time comes. Heck. If it was your money they put down for you, how does the government raise and drop the payments as they have a mind?
      The truth is, you are paying into a system that is paying those on social security now. By the time you get to retirement age, there might be none to get or the payments drop so low it will not keep a roof over your head or you will be hungry for three weeks out of the month. Learn the system you are living in and don't rely on how you *think* it works.

    • @elenarewd9299
      @elenarewd9299 Před měsícem

      No, social security is paid for by the people who are currently working for the retirees. So you are paying for the people who are retired right now. If there are not enough payers and too many retirees, then they have to cut the benefits or monthly amounts. That’s the weakness of SSI. 401K or 403B or Roth IRA are retirement accounts you pay into and they grow into money you can pull from. That is money you put in and can draw from when retired.
