Love watching the projects you two get into, but the addition of the cats to the team make home projects even more entertaining to watch.
Exactly, it makes a really good humor twist to it, especially when the grey cat got nuts and Tim just couldn't help but laugh :D
Hey Tim, just for future reference, if you tie a half hitch in your chain above the lifting eye of what you’re wanting to move, it’ll keep it from swinging 90° on you as you lift it depending on the direction the lifting eye is facing. It’s an easy and EXTREMELY handy way to manipulate your load, especially when trying to move and place something by yourself in a precarious situation. Cheers, brother.
Tim, I have always put mine with a one inch slope to the opposing side of the pump so sediment in the tank stays at the non-pump end so your pump doesn’t suck it up. Just a tip! Great video! Here in Wayne County Ohio we got 4 inches of rain in the storm Wednesday.
We do the same thing so we don't pick up the junk
...and if you get any water in it that freezes, it'll do so away from the pickup
I do the same. Slope to the non pump end.
Before you set that tank you should dig down by that footer and put a French drain in a back fill will gravel then set the road pack and tank
Mary is a great supervisor. Her correction technique, swatting, is simple but effective.
What a cool tribute to your father, reminds me of the tribute our family made to my father when he passed away. Also, my two year old son loves all your videos, we tend to watch them together. Got to start them young to cultivate that farmer inside him.
The cats are looking good. Glad no permanent damage. Watching your cats almost makes me want to get a couple.
Thanks for the tip on lifting and tilting the forks in order to make it easier to adjust fork spacing. I enjoy all of your videos.
I truly enjoy the videos and hard work.. but really like to see the two of you love each other and enjoy one another. Also... still trying to get my wife on board to purchase a tractor for my second job so I can slow down or stop laying flooring! lol.. God bless you both in a special way.
Good video. Mike Morgan is the king of spreading gravel with a FEL😂
Hamiltonville Farm Probably because he spreads 100000 ton a year. He is always buying and spreading rock
Letsdig18 can make him look like and amateur!!
Tim, buddy, that tip about tilting the forks to make them easy to move? Awesome! I’ve been beating them back and forth with a rubber mallet to move them in and out. You da Man! 🚜🚜🚜
I built my fuel tank and went with a 12 volt pump. I installed a jack on my tractor to plug the pump into. It fills my tractor in less than 1 minute. It is amazing how well the little $40 12 volt pumps work.
I can rig a lot of things up to save 500 bucks LOL
That's actually an awesome idea cause it greatly increases the difficulty for someone to try and steal a can or 2.
You guys never cease to amaze me, which is a good thing. It's so nice to see you with your greene machine. Nice to see the kitties. Just so nice to see. 😁😁😁
Loved the Congressional version of marital compromise on saving money--fine, you can have your fancy electric pump and i'll get the new dishwasher! Alll kidding aside, watching you work together so well as a family is wonderful and yes, a big reason you did the channel originally.
Christy, I love the T-shirt!!!!!! Another great video, taking a seemingly overwhelming task and making it look easy.
It's good to see Christy using the tractor!
Between actual projects, videography, editing and reading every comment and responding to many, I cannot imagine how many hours Tim and Christy put into this channel, but I sure appreciate it. This is truly one of the best channels on CZcams.
Wow! Thanks for The kind words, Curt!
Kristy, thanks for all your video work
Tim I’d agree with the idea that 53s are best for the base. Usually when we set a fuel tank I slopes them back away from the pump a little bit to keep from getting junk in the tank to the equipment. Usually a 1/2 or 1 inch of fall away from the suction. Maybe you have a good clean tank or good fuel and if doesn’t matter.
Here it is 9 AM and with the mere mention of a cheeseburger, I am now hungry! I think I know what I am having for lunch Tim.
That will come in handy . I had some tanks build from Kentucky. I had two 77 gallon tanks made. Was going to buy a split 150 but the said two small ones would be cheaper.
I have used the crush rock right on bare soil for a driveway with great success. Love you cats. I have home that does the same thing. She has to inspect everything we do. Good tip on sliding the forks, I will try that.
Glad to see everyone is safe.
Nice work. Correct Tim. No one can spread rock like Mike Morgan. Have a productive day.
Hi Tim, Christy,
Next step on the gravel is a couple of passes with a plate compactor. I'm guessing you will find that the gravel will be settling a bit. Make sure you keep a small pile to add to the surface.
Great video as always!
Great video Tim! Thanks for the tip on moving the pallet forks on the frame. My Artillian pallet fork system is one of my favorite implements, one day an Artillian diverter and grapple!
Buy or build a stand to elevate the fuel tank and gravity feed into the equipment. Has worked well on my dad's farm for years filling even larger tractors than you have regularly. With that, there is no pump to worry about working. All you need coming out is a ball valve, filter, hose, and nozzle.
Josh Wilson yep. Same on our farm when I was a kid.
That’s how my grandpas were. Up like 8ft. Had a gas one and diesel one side by side.
My brothers was gravity feed on a stand. But he had a truck with a pump to fill it. If your filling with cans then its nice to have it low. Around here they require a catch pan under the tank incase of leaks.
That's how we refueled in Baghdad back in 2004. Elevated fuel tank and let gravity feed the diesel into our HMMV's.
That's my setup. A 55 gallon drum on a stand. I take it down, put it in my pickup, fill it then put it back up with my tractor's FEL.
Hi Tim and Christy nice work Christy is as good as any professional operator good luck and stay safe
Nice fuel tank, it should work out very well for you. The electric pump will make for short work when filling everything and weak arms since there will be no more pumping. moving a big pile of gravel or stone is always fun work.
I haven't watched u in like a year and u have changed heaps keep up the good work look forward to the next video
Welcome back!
Good video Tim and Christy I appreciate you guys God Bless
Hi Tim. A great channel, you always have great content and opinion based on experience. One thing to consider when placing your fuel tank, or storing and kind of POL (Petroleum, Oil, Lubricants) is to keep some separation between where you park and store your equipment and where you locate your tank and do your refueling. If ever there was a fire, God forbid, any separation from your garage, say 50' to 100', will give some protection to your other property until the fire can be brought under control. Just food for thought. Keep making the videos, I've enjoyed everyone I've watched.
Looks great guys and you are right about Mike Morgan.
Heyhey Tim Mike Morgan is the master gravel spreader for sure. He is so good at it. Take care
Very nice to see your wife get to run the tractor and have some fun!
Nice addition, will make fueling a lot easier. 👍✊
We used 150 gal tanks for gas and diesel on the farm years ago they were made to fit in the pickup truck beds we had when working to top off our 4020s and our larger tractors at dinner 40 to 50 gallons we used hand pumps we eventually went to Rotary handpumps and junked the old jerk pumps!!
Tim, when you backblade, you can enhance your result if you have a partial load in your bucket. The added weight helps with grading !
Tim if you have a drainage problem ,you should dig trenches with that backhoe and lay agricultural pipe ,to assist with the drainage
I just picked up a 75 gallon semi tank for the same thing. Finally bought a sub compact. Went with New Holland. Local John Deere dealer didnt seem to care if they sold anything or not when i told them i was looking at used (kinda sad too because i was ready to take it home) so for 2k more than the 5 year old 1025r i got a 2020 workmaster 25s and to be honest i like it more. Advertised more capacity on loader and rear lift, weighs a few hundred pounds more, is more open and 3k cheaper comparing new to new. 7 year powertrain as well. Cant wait to put it to work 😎
I solved the cost difference problem by getting a 12 volt fuel pump and buying a cheap 12 Volt AC/DC converter on Amazon. I plug the converter into 120V AC and wired the pump leads to the 12Volt screws on the back of the converter and it works like a charm.
I was taught to tilt the tank in the opposite direction, with pump end slightly elevated. Theory being if you have moisture to collect in the tank from condensation it will settle in the opposite end away from the pump. The low end could be pumped out if needed to get rid of moisture.
Love the cats helping out
I used to haul rock for a living and spread more than a few new driveways and parking lots. It's always better if you can strip the sod off as the grass will rot away and can cause pot holes. It can also work it's way back up but round up takes care of that. You're on the right track in using road stone. We always used a 2" for the base and covered with a 3/4" or 1" clean to help keep dust down. You do really need that electric pump. The time you save filling the tank will let you put in that new dishwasher!
Those cats are great
great tip on pallet fork adjustment
For the cost difference you could set up a battery with a solar tender and the 12 volt pump and then you could pump diesel even in a power outage.
Good Ol' Fashion Tractor Time with Tim video. Hope all is well.
I worked for a small pipe laying company in Indianapolis years ago, we had a 300 gallon fuel tank we took to jobs and all it had was a rotary hand pump. We had to refuel the equipment every other day and it took 150 gallons to fill it, all hand pumped.
I love it when Christi gives direction. LOL
Tim Christi and cats great fun watching the cats you always explain how and why your ding the project we appreciate that
God Bless All
PaK
The new Fill-Rite electric pump will be a great addition to the fuel tank!
Great video!
I use a 12 VDC fuel pump and have no desire for a 120 VAC pump. The DC pump will always work as long as the tractor (or an ATA) are available. And when the power goes out I can still fuel up the tractor to run the PTO generator. If you don't want to bother with raising the tractor hood to access the battery then install a jumper plug. Thanks for the videos!
Great negotiations Christy!! LOL! Good job ya'll!
I hope the CFO approves your request for that pump 🙂
Suggestion: Take one of those 12V Pumps, put a set of small sealed Pb-Batteries inside on the shelf, small (~5-10A) charger on it on ac. You get the surge energy from the battery combined with the charger. Should be good to run a 250W pump for some minutes to get freh go-go-juice to keep your "toys" going! :-)
Iv had similar experience with using 2in as a base. If you have a slope 2in base usually works pretty good. If its relatively flat just use road pack like you said. Will cause a lot less headaches or so iv learned.
you got it all dun with the green n yellow and Mrs Christy did a fine Job as well i Would like to have Sum gravel like u had But i live way down here in Brooks County georgia at the bottom of the state yall keep up the good work
Tim, generally speaking it is best to use crusher rock as a foundation. For a foundation under a road driveway or patio the rock is compacted. This can go from 4 to 12 inches of base material. The crusher rock gets packed way tighter then the class 2 rock. If you ask me the idea of using class 2 sounds like its for cheapening material cost.
Adjusting forks the easy way , leave forks level at approximately waist high lifting slightly with one hand at bend while pushing or pulling at top with other. Worked well on fork lifts for past 30 years without hydraulic adjusters.
Another nice job!
As a kid we had a hand crank fuel pump. Our big tractor held 80 gallons. Took a few cranks to fill! When the fuel truck came dad would always pull the tractors up so the fuel truck would fill them up. Less cranking!! Lol
A few years ago a study was done on solid rocket propellant. The propellant was separating and larger particles migrating to the bottom. What they found is that any sort of small vibration would cause the small particles to slowly move up and around the larger ones, causing the larger particles to sink. Same thing happens with larger stones to seem to sink into the ground.
hey Tim I watched that too, he taps the stick repeatedly, I didn't think that would work, but it does
Thanks again. Put a battery on the floor inside the barn and hook a trickle charger to it then buy the 12v pump...you might even put it in a cart to roll around the shop when you need to jump something off.
Extra cameras. Get a couple of gopros and mount them on the truck, slap one on the side of the trailer and one on the rops...we will watch anything...thanks again for all the hard work of putting all this together.
No, you WON’T watch anything :-)
The hundreds of other channels with less quality videos prove that :-)
Right here in Indianapolis Indiana guys,I mow lawns here and playing field Avon brownsburg west side Indianapolis, and looking forward one day to get my mini excavator. And now I kind of like that little Johnny you have.
Hey, I really love your content so great, keep it up
Pretty close to us. We’re near Lebanon.
Hey Tim,
Chris in Lake Stevens, WA
1st if all, I love your cats! Great comic relief. Yes, Mike Morgan is a master at spreading rock, but I think the key is to jog the joystick by flicking the stick left and right in small increments as you work the bucket down to dump.
Andrew Camarata in NY (check out his channel) is very good at tailgating gravel.
Good stuff, Tim
Good tip with the forks
Hey Tim, Great Video! Can you do a video on how to fix ruts in sod?
Bigger stone works when you have a deeper base and you need to support more weight. I built a driveway to my hog barns 25 years ago that needed to support fully loaded semis. Dug out 12" to 18" to get all the topsoil off. Filled with 12" of 3" rock and just topped it with 1" for smoothness. Has not sunk at all and will support 80K semis and heavy farm tractors even just after a big rain.
Christy, sometimes I don't think Tim wants to share all of his toys, at least he was the one picking stuff up and putting them on the forks. Tim, you might want to get one of the lower flow pumps, I have a 15 GPM and the diesel really flows out of the pump handle. It fills my 11 gallon tank on the tractor pretty fast. The first time I had some foam push out of the tank. I keep a closer eye on it and haven't had any more problems.
Try this when spreading gravel Tim hold your bucket up high and shake it a little bit just enough to let it fall out don't try to pour it out
Works good for me give it a try
Thanks for the good videos
Tractor Time with Martha and Marry. Looks good so far.
Hey Tim when I delivered fuel we used forks on the inside of the runners in the little holes on each side of the tank to position the tanks they're the forks will fit right inside it in that little box on each side thank you
Your cats are very helpful.
My 1025r was delivered yesterday. The backhoe will take some getting used to.
Congratulations!
Congrats. My TLB arrived yesterday too. Still waiting on mower and snowblower tho. But I got to play a lot. Are you part of any of the fb groups? You’ll see my muddy messes with my backhoe. Lol. I’m getting the hang of it... kind of.
Tim you might want to put that romex in conduit, the sun will eat that up as its interior NM-B and not UF based cable. An idea might be to attach a small box 6x6x6 and coil it up in the box.
You can buy a 120v to 12 volt converter and use the 12 volt pump. We have one and it works great to fuel up the big tractors.
I dug a French drain around the low side of my machine shed with the 1025r.
I'm looking to order some rock similar to that to fill in where I park my johnny. I have a 12 x 24 shed with a matching lean-to attached to it, and it gets so muddy back there sometimes when it rains. Hoping to set it up to drain proper and have a nice gravel area to store things! Looks good. I'm tempted to get a large drum of diesel and a 12v pump for it at some point. The 5 Gallon fuel can requires too many trips to the store when you live in the country.
We always tipped our tanks slightly away from the pickup. This allows for water, slug, or any junk, a place to settle down into. But mine is 500 gall. Different strokes for different folks, though. Might ask your dad how he sets his.
the rock is called SABM which sands for "stabilized aggregate base material" is made to be used for a base for concrete and asphalt
I have a 110v fuel pump I got on Amazon for like $120. Chinese made though I think, pumps like crazy and still works just fine after 3 years.
If you still have the 4 in 1 bucket it works great leveling and spreading stone a little more even. takes practice but i am beginning to understand its value more as i use it on my Kubota L4060
Once again nice video everyone
Awesome little fuel tank! Been wanting to build one myself out of a 55 gal drum. Nice video Tim!
I have a nice aluminum 50 gallon i made from a road tractor with a electric pump nice set up
I have 2 filters on my tank 1 for water 1 for trash Dutton gold rod filters
@@TOMBOY43599 Very cool man sounds like it works really well. I made a video installing a fuel transfer tank in my Cummins pickup. I use it all the time it was the best thing i ever did. I have a fuel filter/water separator on it but its an all in one filter so eventually I would like to buy a second filter housing and do 2 separate filters one being a regular fuel filter and the other being just a water separator.
Good Job. Those cats are too cool
I agree with other comments you should pitch away from the pump to have water and sediment on the opposite end for removal, and also having it elevated for gravity feed if there are bottom ports for fittings, saves buying a pump, or take handle off and make a way to use a drill to turn the pump
Hey tim you can get the 12v fuel pump and use it just like the 110 just need to get a converter like a battery charger thats what i did. They arnt that much and would still be about ½ the cost of the pump you would just plug in. And if the power ever goes out could still run the pump from a 12v battery
I use a 30 amp ac/dc converter. No batteries or battery charger required. You should be able to get them off Amazon for about $70.
Nice work yet again Tim and Christy. You're lucky there, here you would have had to build a containment berm around the tank in case of spills! I'm guessing you can get fuel delivered? Otherwise it's going to be lots of trips with a tank in the pickup, or a fuel trailer purchase coming!
I used to work at a place years ago that we had lots of heavy equipment. And where we needed to fill tanks there was no electricity. So what we did we built stands get the tanks about 5 feet up in the air. And all we had to do was gravity feed all the equipment. You had to keep an eye on it but it would fill up really quick
Tim, on our farm we always tilted the tank away from the pump allowing sediment and water to settle at the oposite end of tank
but anyways , good video.
I must admit, after watching numerous episodes of Mike on Outdoors with the Morgan's spread stone with a front end loader, I've gotten fairly decent at spreading stone. Our driveway is 900 feet long, so the ability to spread stone and use a land plane is essential. I purchased a 50 gallon transfer tank with a rotary hand pump after convincing my "finance committee" that it would save us money by enabling me to buy off road diesel.
Use landscaping block around the edges with gravel in the center
The Artillian Frame comes with "WAX" to spread on the upper face to make sliding Forks even easier in this position.
That’s a good tip. I’ll keep that in mind when I get mine.
Dry graphite spray is amazing
We move our forks on our heavy equipment in the exact same way as Tim did....much less effort to move them that way.
I love your vids now
💥 I about split a gut laughing at Christy saying she’s wired for a new dishwasher!! LOL!!!
*Keep on tractoring!* 👍
Wasn’t so funny to me!!! ...just kidding.
Hey tim I spread rock with the bucket flat but of course I am in a skidsteer and in a skidsteer is easy but with a tractor is sometimes is a pain
