Cable ties are not designed for use outdoors. The ultraviolet of sun light will cause them to break down and become brittle so they will eventually fall off. The wire clamp is a great idea thanks for showing it.

Not all cable ties are affected by the sun. There’s UV resistant cable ties. Alit takes a long time for the sun to affect non UV resistant cable ties. Many years.

last time I did something like this I put the pipe in a piece of sand paper and twisted it round, it holds a little of the petroleum jelly but also gives the wire something to bite into and get some extra friction to hold it even tighter....
