@@ian_occultist Ian, I disagree. As much as I have loved Lee Perry for many years, I still think there's a time and a place for good interviewing, and the interviewer, Frances Morgan, performed her role excellently here. Plenty of listening by her here.
One time standing with Scratch after not seeing him for awhile and with out thinking just asked him some random small talk question. How ya been man? ... he looked at me blankly and walked in the other direction

Crazy how u never know when he is serious or not pfff ableton stahes are always super dry, practical and intellectual which she probably expected to be able to do yet he gave a Masterclass on creativity, i feel like i learned SO much just by seeing his spirit rejoice and joke and poke.

I love his music but am sceptical of his philosophy, as i am with all religious mindsets and world views. I love the album Echomania. “I’m going to de-program you and your computer” is such a brilliant and funny line. Such an artist is Lee Scratch Perry; godfather of dub, or one of them… i’ll add LKJ in that equation also. LIsten to the song “What About the Working Class” by Lynton Quesi Johnson great lyrics also and one of the most perfect guitar solos of all time. Since this video segment is coming from Ableton i have to take the opportunity to thank Ableton for Live, a truly brilliant software and one of the greatest creative tools of all time for musicians and/or producers. Also, Walking in Jerusalem, amazing performance and vibe. Although i’m sceptical of all pre-set systems of belief, religions, i do like a lot of religiously inspired music. These many and various mythologies are part of what makes the human race a colourful and inventive species.

Lee Perry's approach to life is his technique. His most famous work was made on the most simple 4 track recorder and mixer, a fraction of what nearly anyone making music has access to today.
That's what amazes me about some of these Loop conversations; They miraculously find out how to talk about nothing for hours on end.

Yes. Don't get me wrong Scratch is an incredible individual and has an outstanding discography of productions behind him. I've seen hime play live several times and enjoyed it. Well worth the price of the ticket. But as to whether he has anything to offer in this kind of context is debatable. And it would be the Ableton Loop organisers I'd be looking for my money back from. Not Scratch
