    I don’t understand the straps, the green book says to place geartrain in the bottom of the case with dummy layshaft inserted to retain needle bearings and small plugs holding thrust washers in place. Then place the output shaft in and gently roll gearbox upside down to allow geartrain to drop into position. Then remove rear plug and insert layshaft till it pushes out front plug and is in position. I use rubber bands crisscrossed over end synchro of output shaft to hold it in place until I put shaft is in position, then snip the rubber bands, c’est fini.

      Thanks for your comment. Do you have the dimensions of the small plugs? Next time I could try with that method.
