I lived in Birmingham Uk for six years and relocated to USA in 2016. I am in my 5th year over here. All my plans are towards returning to Ghana to live my best life. Just cant fathom how someone from Africa would want to live and retire in Europe or USA. Unfortunately that is the reality for many African over here. I try to explain to them how we are being stressed over here moving between work and home without any life unfortunately so many of the brothers don't see as far as I see about the opportunities in Africa. Africa is the place to be. The place where we can have a real life, build businesses without much of a competition from already established companies. Many sectors in Africa are still virgin and all one needs is capital to explore these opportunities. Living here gives me the opportunity to earn the money to start with when I return. Yes Africa, I shall return. Soon Soon, Soon. Fed up with living in the bubble of wealth-a bubble that can easily burst and live you with a repossed house, car etc-poverty. I am definitely going back to Ghana where wealth is real , tangible and 100% owned. open you eyes people.

@@WODEMAYA I believe some people are getting slightly irritated when expats from Ghana talk about Ghana being better than the West. They rather want to hear "Africa" is better than the west. Some feel that the other African countries are being left out, which I don't see it that way as a diasporan. I believe you have done great work showing us other African countries too and know that if it wasn't for COVID you would have shown us even more. Thank you for your hard work, Wode Maya.

Let me be frank here; I believe most Africans, in this case, most Ghanaians who go in search for “greener pastures” have the strong desire and mentality of retiring back home. If you live in USA 🇺🇸 come to my defense; the first day you landed here in USA 🇺🇸 and walked your neighborhood, you desired to return home, why? It’s because of loneliness, no social life, moral standards were appalling...in short a total cultural shock. After you adjust and start work, your goal is working hard to either go to school, or save money and building your house in Ghana 🇬🇭 and returning home on retirement or as soon as you find a leveling ground to invest. If Ghanaians don’t want to return home, why waste money to build in Ghana 🇬🇭 and for who to live in those houses. Every view expressed is welcome 🙏 so long as it’s devoid of insults. I still stand by my opinion that land does not belong to anyone. The reality is home 🏠, Ghana 🇬🇭 is always going to be home and that freedom is what makes you feel a sense of belongingness. Anything else I see it from a different view point. The struggle in Accra is real and I love it each time I weave my way around in Accra, and Kaneshie. There are bad people almost everywhere in this world 🌍. Being conscious and aware of our surroundings etc makes a difference. Have you walked in kaneshie, especially that overhead bridge before? Have you weaved around UTC-Accra, have you walked around Timber market?, Sodom and Gomorrah, Cirlce-Accra , you will learn to be smart when you walk in a den of people who always want to outsmart you. I have always wanted to return home and most who are close to me always wonder why I talk about going home. Well it’s a known fact, interview most People in USA 🇺🇸 from Ghana 🇬🇭 and they want to return to Ghana 🇬🇭. We keep learning from your interviews and at the appointed time, Man them shall return home

That's what we need is the honesty, and how it is for SOME folks relocating that you won't just adapt right away. I felt what they were saying about people saying you're crazy to leave where you are to come there. I had that same experience when I left the US to the Caribbean to live and people said I was crazy for coming there. But they have no idea that it's crazy to live in the US with the struggle mentality that's never ending. Hopefully my vision that I'm working on will get rid of one of the major negative factor that's facing the continent today.

that the plan, when you go overseas, it always never works, from sending money home for people to build a house for you, that they spend money on their own needs(including family)to trying to do bussiness with scammers,it's frustrating yet you dream of one day coming back home and establishing yourself it takes a lot of attempts to do so ,a lot of people have stopped trying and have giving up going back home

@@amaradumbuya2099 I want to encourage you not to give up. I returned home and it was challenging but I am so happy I did. Lovely environment and stress free. The work to home vibe that is so prominent in the West is not good for our health. Now I have time to grow my own food and breathe.
Sometimes family is not always there to help you. They will help themselves first out of your money. Some even build homes out of it too, while you get excuses why yours can't be finished. Help them where you can but I wouldn't send them money to build for me if they have proven not to be trustworthy. Save your money and if you can get time off from your job or you have a partner that can go down for a month or two, do a part of the house and repeat that process until the house is finished. You can do the block and steel part and leave the finishing for when you are ready to move in. It may cost a little more and take years in the end but at least you will know how your money is spent. It can work, just stay focused and don't fall for too many hard luck stories from people. Most important, find time to visit your site. Don't let them know you are coming. That is if you choose to get outside help. . Don't over build. Sometimes we can get carried away by looking at what others are building. Most of the times they never get to see or live in that big house. Smaller is more manageable financially and easier to clean. It also allows you to use bettet quality materials.
Best of luck with everything. When life throws you lemons you make lemonade(old saying I think)😁😊

This is such a lovely story 💖 What I've learned is that, to avoid disappointment, it is good to get the balance of our lives right before anything else. People are lucky to be able to experience the UK and Africa while growing up because it's good to see the difference and compare! The UK city life (inner cities!) is not good for growing your family or family values unless you have a big house with a big garden and your kids go to a good progressive school. You also have to do alot of family-work and I mean WORK REALL HARD and spend alot of time concentrating on raising your kids well. You have to teach your kids morals, ethics and values as well as help them to develop emotionally. Most of us can't and don't experience that. In Africa, the whole community helps you to do that - 'It Takes a Village To Raise a Child' etc. In the UK, you are expected to do all that work raising your kids on your own! Instead in the UK, we live in the poorer communities, with less space, among poorer people with a weaker quality of life. Most of us are too busy working and hustling to spend 'Quality Time' with our kids. So we don't get the time to instill in our kids how to behave, how to live their lives, how to study or even how to love studying! So many of our kids don't do very well at school - with their behaviour and with academics. If we didn't have these issues, life would still be hard but in order to make a better life in the UK, we need to understand these pitfalls. The best way to live, is to instill loving discipline into your children, keep them away from 'bad' schools and 'bad' friends and encourage them to love studying and to make the most of school! Then we need to improve our neighbourhoods and communities by doing positive community work and encourage our kids and youths do join us to improve our communities. We have to put the work in. If black community life in the UK could have some of the positive attitudes and behaviours from countries like Ghana, life would be so much better in the UK. We need to behave in a more proactive and positive way over in the UK. Overall, the UK can be a very positive place to live, if you get those things right. The UK government departments and the UK education system can teach us positive ideas/things that we need to take to Africa and implement there.
