As a female in the '70s and '80s, we just weren't encouraged that way. We were to be general teachers, mothers, and secretaries. All noble roles, not brought aside and said, u know, u r excelling in math, talk to ur parents and u could go places. All of my general sciences, bio, etc teachers in junior and senior high, were only male. They made us feel uncomfortable about what video or what touchy subject we learned. I know it's different now, but for those of us who had no structure at home, not with higher education in our dreams, it just didn't happen. As terrible as some things have gone, gender equality is in its way. It's not just about pay, but I want to be treated as my name is Chris. Treat me like the male, even though I'm female. Don't look at my resume with gender bias. I am more than that, we r more than that.

I just switched to a STEM major that's male-dominated, so I'm quite nervous about the whole dynamic. Hope to make it through though!
@@JNMKlover my grandmother was one of the first female OB/GYNs in her state and was seen as a bitch for being a doctor at all! I am extremely grateful to have such trailblazers ahead of my time that made me comfortable enough to pursue biomedical engineering
@@frosty_teacup nice, good luck! I work in STEM rn and it's amazing. Uni/school is definitely harder when it comes to working with others than at work (at least for me in tech). Find support groups or make one! A popular one in the US is called SACNAS, there's also grace Hopper conf, there's ACM-W and many more communities

Chris, I completely agree with you about napping!! I just can’t do it. I wake up confused and upset that I lost several hours in my day.
My acid reflux burning my throat, my face is bloated, and I have the WORST headache. So I fight through fatigue, just to get to bed early and enjoy laying down. And then fall asleep earlier than normal. But I'm much older than these two guys, I get excited to be in bed early!
I have chronic health issues that make me constantly fatigued so I often take sometimes even two naps a day (I'm considered disabled so I don't work so I have plenty of time in the day to sleep) and I still sleep through the night although with my health issues, I'm up and down all night but when I nap for a few hours a day, I get good sleep!
The unsuccessful party horns at the beginning set the vibes for the episode and I am obsessed
I totally get what Andrew was saying about relating the year to your school grade and how new year and its meaning has changed as you get older.
Andrew has the vibe of a small town radio host. Maybe a soft jazz station.
And I mean that in the best way possible.

2022 was not kind to Colorado, towns burned down here, it sucked, ppl lost homes, animals had to be evacuated....we didnt start so great here, my neighborhood was full of brown air....it sucked. If Chris and Andrew facilitate veiwers to contribute to Boulder county donations, thatd be great

As Andrew said, you’re not suppose to pop pimples, cause that will leave holes in your skin. It’s the best to dry them out by either leaving them be or get ointment that will dry them out.

Andrew btw as someone who has IBS (something they cant see on tests) anxiety is super related to how ur stomach feels and exersise is always a good thing to help with stomach problems even just walking after eating or something
Also you know you best it took like 2-5 doctors appointments till they figured my case out since it didnt show up on anything if it hurts you know your body best
This was the case for me. Took 2 years until diagnosis. So many tests and years of pain but now I know how to eat according to my body and IBS.
My grandma just went to the hospital today I needed this thank you Chris, Andrew and the Unhinged crew 🖤

I soooo relate to what Chris was saying about falling out of communication with friends. I feel like we’ve all been in survival mode and having to prioritize where our limited energy goes and catching up with people takes a huge back burner. Thankfully every friend I’ve reached out to has been so kind and understanding. But the anxiety about knowing how long it’s been can be so daunting.

Andrew I had the EXACT same issue for 2 years. So much pain, my stomach was beyond painful everyday I was so sick I lost so much weight and I still struggle to eat because of the pain. They ended up diagnosing me with IBS and I have to be careful with my diet as it can cause pain e.g. can't eat anything with garlic, onion, etc. I definitely get more pain from sitting in a certain position especially working at the desk. I wish you all the best for your year Andrew, just remember to check in with yourself, and rest when your body needs to. 💖

The thing about Andrew celebrating New Year's alone, I feel it on the same level. My sister and I were the only ones here at home last Christmas and it was so quiet. Like, so quiet. The rest of the family were out of town and my sister and I and my darling dog were the ones left at home because I had Christmas eve work (I work night shift so yeah lol) and yeah it was actually very interesting and i liked the quiet in a way, but it was just different spending chrismtas eve or new years with the family or you chosen family than spending it in that way. I don't know. It's just me. I'm just not used to it. But yeah, it was very, very interesting!
