    I’ve had a secrid slim for over 8 years now and abused it plenty. Still works like a charm. I’d instant buy it again for that reason alone.

    Hi Wally :) love your reviews! Could you consider reviewing the Peak Design Stand wallet?

    Really would have liked to see more variations on box wallets like these two
    Some designs from Pularys vary in the slot placements
    even some knockoff designs with the triggers on the sides

    Good review. I still can't go passed the Secrid.
    I came across a leather goods maker/small business who makes a slim wallet for the card holder.
    It's a different design and very good quality and fully recommend.
    It's called Westaur leather goods and maybe Wally, you could review one. Cheers

    I have the secrid single and double wallet love them both and I have the ekster parlement and just ordered the one your reviewing in the redwood to match my new samsung s22 ultra. I like them both the same. they all feel good in the hand and they pop out cards silky smooth. I recommend both

      Ergonomically which one is easier to use on the trigger mechanism?

  • @BuckFush08
    @BuckFush08 Před rokem +1

    What I'd really like, which neither company makes, is a fully wrapped box, in leather, with a single pocket for drivers license. I don't carry cash, so I don't need the triple fold or money strap that adds bulk to the overall thickness of the wallet.
    Secrid recently announced a collaboration with Carl Friedric, fully wrapped in Italian leather, with beautiful steering wheel stitching on one side, and a single side pocket! Exactly what I was looking for, but a bit pricey.

    One of my first box wallets a few years ago was secrid. Still works as well as day 1. Was looking at the new ekster AirTag wallet but every review I’ve read says ekster trigger mechanism breaks in under a year.

      @greg6162 Před 2 lety +3

      I’ve heard the same about Ekster unfortunately because I do like the button design. However, I’m pretty sure Secrid not only has the better trigger it also uses a better quality leather. I’m willing to pay that little bit of extra for better quality control. I’m not 100% sure about Eckster’s leather quality either. Anytime a company tries to throw in Eco-whatever into the materials used it’s just them gaslighting customer’s so they can use cheaper materials. Unless people of the world stop eating meat then leather is going to be more eco-friendly. Honestly, all these synthetic *eco-whatever materials* made of plastics and polymers are actually worse for the environment. The world is literally drowning in plastics which are poisoning the ecosystem

      @@greg6162 what are you talking about? You are paying less for a Secrid wallet and get higher quality. I ordered an Ekstar wallet but cancelled it in time and got the mini wallet for 60$

    Hey, i have a question and i would appreciate it if you could help me out. Im searching for the right wallet for quiet a long time now, im searching for a wallet which should be robust (not breaking or scratching easily) and which keeps my cards safe. I just recently found out about the ridge wallet and it really looks good to me but my only problem with wallets like these is that i heard the cards can easily get scratched inside due to the rubbing against each other. My question would be, is that true? Or does that only happen because of embossed Cards? And what is the „best“ slim wallet right now?

  • @martinguy7609
    @martinguy7609 Před 2 lety +1

    Hey Mark - on the normal Anson Calder Card wallet can you just store cash in the middle part rather than buying the cash slot version? They're sold out and taking forever to restock 🙄

    1) Secrid Cardprotector
    2) Ekster Cardholder

    I would hoped that you will do a comparisons between them as I am looking for just a box wallet for now.

    One thing ive always been curious about for these types of wallets, that always make me worried to buy them. What happens if you just put one or two cards in them? Do they stay in? Do they raddle? Does the lever still fan out the cards?

    • @pooky3672
      @pooky3672 Před rokem +1

      I have the secrid. It works with even only one card inserted due to the felt pads on both sides (6:30 in the video). They are thick enough to still provide friction even if only one card is inserted completely diagonally. Btw. my secrid has been my only wallet for years, I even forgot when and where I bought it lol. I take it everywhere and it"s still working like on day one. The only thing I had to replace last year was the money band because it was worn out.

    The serial no on the ekster is probably some internal security if you send it back to them for repair so that they will know it is
    One of theirs and not a high grade clone.

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  Před 2 lety

      Kinda, but not really. It's made for coins more than anything else, and the return of a small space for a bulky addition isn't a good investment in my mind.

  • @datbubby
    @datbubby Před 2 lety +2

    Have you had any experience with the Ekster plastic button breaking or degrading? How does this compare to the Secrid?
    Another thing I'm curious about is the stability of the cards in the "card protector" box. Is it common for the cards to fling out of the mechanism if shaken around too much (in the Ekster vs Secrid)?
    thanks :)

    If the Ekster backplate wasn't RFID blocking I could put my Oyster travel card in there and tap in and out without having to get the card out of the wallet - or for that matter your payment card of choice!

    • @rashidhumine

      You can just get the RFID Backplate out of the holder and just have the rubber band on the holder with your Oyster Card.

    Great review. However if we break down the price. The Secrid cost 35 € which include free shipping in the EU, without the money strap it is just 25 €. Also the Ekster brushed black regular price is 89 Dollars. If we look at the price excluding shipment cost.Secrid with money strap = 38 Dollars, Ekster =89 Dollars. Ekster is ridiculous overpriced compared to Secrid.

      In the US I see secrid with money band at $61 and eckster at $68 (they are basically always running a sale). Also eckster has backplate and a groove for the moneyband

    Ekster is made in China. While that is not a negative, it should not cost more than $20. Maybe $25 at best. They are using the designed in Holland, copied from Secrid, but made in china approach

  • @kroozctrl6284

    Privacy plate? Why? They are selling you a load of crap. All you need is the aluminum housing. That’s what blocks RFID. You are literally paying more for a rip on the OEM eg SECRID.
    I’ve owned my double Secrid wallet for 5+ years. And only now is the felt pads wearing off. I bought it for $106 off Amazon. And it came with 2x card holders (10 cards), and a leather wrap to hold cash, recipes, business cards.
