I Hate it But I Love it - Diehard Petrolhead Drives a Tesla for The First Time in His Life

- In this video I do something I have never done before and that is to drive an EV (BEV, battery electric vehicle) more specifically a Tesla Model 3. In the video I share my genuine and honest first impressions, my frustrations with the touchscreen, charging attempts and cornering experience.
I have to say that the driving was a lot more enjoyable than I imagined. Different but not that different. Some things, mostly related to the user interface were definitely not as enjoyable and were even frustrating. The goal of the video was to share honest and genuine feelings and impressions through the eyes of a petrolhead so that other petrolheads can get a relatable second hand experience of EV driving.
I also have to say that I'm ashamed the Internet almost managed to convince me into thinking that I must pick a side. Choose one over the other. Stand against EVs because I'm a petrolhead. I realized that I started to dislike these cars without ever having tried them. I started getting on a bandwagon and I think that's stupid and it does nothing other than rob me of new experiences. There's no reason to pick sides. It's just a car. We only live once so I think it's better to taste and try everything rather than argue about things. It's better to appreciate the incredible diversity of this interesting time we live in.
Thanks for watching.

How was your experience figuring out where was hidden the odometer? I hate working on those cars as a mechanic...
I totally agree about the user interface. I hate it when everything is buried in menus, on a touch screen. Gimme a freaking button! I can hit the button while driving, without taking my eyes off the road for more than a split second. The same can't be said for a touch screen.
That bit at the end is oh so true. We're basically still cavemen, with a bunch of fancy new toys. Our technological progress is outpacing our evolutionary progress by orders of magnitude. We've reached a point where our own technology has become like magic to us, because we can't wrap our monkey brains around it.
You should try the lexus rz
Having driven a Model 3 for four years, I usually interact with the car through voice commands, rather than the screen.

@@eTiMaGoIn general yes, but he is wrong about the screen controls. He only had few hours of experience and you can't expect everything to be straight forward. For people that don't drive manual transmission it's nightmare but for people who are used to it it's simple. Same with screen. To me menus are perfect. Want to open the hood well you just press the hood on the screen it's straight forward. Climate controls on screen have big buttons that are easy to use.

Eventually the glove box will be a subscription add-on.
I am a retired engineer. I've been arguing your points on user interface FOREVER! First principles of human/machine interaction should not be violated! Most drivers are used to a stoplight that has RED as stop, GREEN as go. Change that, and you kill a lot of people. Change the paradigm of daily car use and you get a lot of very frustrated people!
The screen should at least mimic a row of commonly used buttons available on practically every car.
Great comments on tribalism by the way.
Go rent a rental car from a maker you are not familiar with, I did last year and that Puegot has so many controls so badly positioned it took me 10 minutes to unfold the wing mirrors and the navigation controls were so bad I used my iPhone for 4 days before I was able to switch to car nav.
Why the narrator of the show could not see the hazard button which is above the rear view mirror, same place it is in many cars I have no idea. This kind of blindness is common on people with obvious anger management issues though.
@@jjamespacbell "Go rent a rental car from a maker you are not familiar with"
I had this 15 years ago (I think it was a VW Passat). I had a 500 mile business trip and the car was dropped off in the company car park with the keys left at reception. A hire car so no user manual. The "handbrake" is a pushbutton and was simply crap. It would either roll back down a slope or stay on and stall the motor when I pulled away. No functional benefit to the user, simply change for it's own sake.
I hope you were saying this from actual experience driving a Tesla. Most people feel it’s going to be a horrible experience that causes a lot of retraining but actually pretty much everybody that ends up driving a Tesla are very happy with the screen big advantage is that your car will always stay up-to-date have all the featuresthat the new Tesla have because of the software based interface.
@@bspencersf Not convinced that's true - i own one, several of my friends do (tech company, not a huge surprise) and most of us bitch about the terrible UI, even several years into ownership. Sure, I've learned where all the options are, but it's still a terrible flow to have to go into the car menu, then the lights menu, then press two buttons when you drive into a fog bank and need to be paying attention but there is no foglight button you can hit by feel. I realise they "fixed" this on the newer models by just deleting the fog lights. The passenger wants into the glove box they reach over to the drivers side, take away the nav system by opening the menu, then press another button. This is a worse flow. Yes, you can learn it. It's still bad. That's before you reach the things that only work on automatic setting but the automatic stuff doesn't really work reliably, like lights and wipers. Sure, they work 90+% of the time, but that's still a lot worse than normal wipers and lights that work 100% of the time.
@@bspencersf I have owned my Model Y for 3 years and loved it from day 1 hour 1.
I do think Tesla could add a 2 minute video tutorial right on the screen to show newbies how to use the system, this would be great for rental agencies and maybe impatient hot heads like this CZcamsr
F, even the glove box ? that is not cost cutting, I bet the plastic box with a plastic button release is way cheaper than a damn motor connected to a computer to open a damn glove box.
Planned obsolescense my dude
But they can sell u a motor in the future… ive had tons of cars. Never had a dash latch go bad, fiddly? Yeah a few. But bet that when that goes bad, ur going to the dealer. Im not against ev, can’t afford one anyway. But their implementation sucks.
It’s not that hard to understand. I own a Tesla and I don’t have to carry any keys anymore. Zero keys. If they do it the normal way then I will need a key for the glovebox. I probably open the glovebox once every 2 months. I prefer this way over having a metal key that I could potentially lose.
@@immortalizedwarriordon't say plan obsolescence, because even 10 year teslas still have the glovebox working, and there is no hidden engineering that will make it stop. That's like saying motorized car windows is planned obsolescence. Just not true

Petrolhead here. I had one of these for 4 years. I agree, undoubtedly the best daily to drive around town and get the kids to school safely with a full "tank" everyday when you can charge home, plus very limited maintenance. Now the biggest problem is that the acceleration is the only party trick, you need something else for the weekends. Personally chose an MX5, which is slower, less practical, less safe, more expensive to run (and insure in my area, an MX5 yup!) but it brings the smiles the Tesla is missing. Thanks for all your great content!

Tbh if they did not lie and try to force it down ppls necks and not act like it's the best thing since sliced bread .. then maybe ppl would have had a better reaction to it , but I really feel the way they try to force it , that's the main reason ppl don't like them .. that and they are not any better on the planet than a diesel truck ... I personally dispise ev cars but I'm not against them if it makes sence .. they have a purpose , but it is not to take over the automotive scene ... but alot of it is like u say bro it's ppls mentality toards change , but the change needs to be better 😅.. peace and love bro keep it rad stay safe
@@mastercricket7626 I understand. It's become this whole culture war type of thing. It's not that deep it's just a car. Evs are perfect for me and others and imperfect for others. Same could be said for other types of cars
@@mastercricket7626 change isn't always good for a lot of people
@@mastercricket7626 It's not just that peoples mentality is against change. The 'complaints' against evs can generally be divided into two groups.
On one hand you've got the people complaining about the lack of noise, lack of soul, charging infrastructure, range, touch screen controls and so on. Most of which is valid to a certain extent. If someone tows a lot long distance or just travels over 400 km and absolutely cannot stop for other than quick gas topups or piss breaks, evs really aren't for you.
On the other hand however you've got what are basically just open questions designed to spread doubt. Like for example if an ev is even better than a diesel truck? How destructive is lithium mining? What happens to lithium batteries after they're done?
All of these can be answered with some searching on google which proves that evs are much better for the environment compared to ice vehicles. Yet for some reason they just keep poping up in arguments. This isn't even the first time we've seen this. The same kind of doubt was spread about side effects of smoking.
After the corporations couldn't deny the effects that smoking has on your lungs they started spreading doubt. I think the same thing is happening now. You can't outright deny that burning gas is bad for the environment and people around you so you spread doubt about if it's even worth switching to electric.
My 1975 Volkswagen Beetle is looking more and more valuable every day…..Terminator be damned!
I suppose for an iPad with such a massive battery that it needs wheels to make it portable, the performance as a mode of transport isn’t too shabby really.

"Stop peeping" 😂
I hate the trend to have every setting in a UI with a passion. It's unlawful to use your phone while driving because it's distracting (which is a good thing IMO), but searching for some stupid setting on your giant car tablet is absolutely fine...
Man about to dang cry when he said "it's fine , I like it."
the idiotic idea to put everything on a screen is an idiotic idea that many manufacturers are following. if that lcd dies, you wont be able to do anything plus , how much will that cost? stupid idea. the controls need to be simple to avoid distracting the driver too much trying to find a stupid menu. the controls need to be reliable they feel the need to put every damn thing on a touch screen because that is the "future"
Because it is cheap for them and many car manufactures have their largest sales in Chine, where people believe that a car with buttons is a car of the past.
it's a gimmick, they think the customers want it, it saves them money on mechanical design linkages, what's not to like? :p Glad to see more manufacturers coming to their senses and putting buttons and knobs back in nowadays...
lol, that's what just happened to my vehicle. Luckily heating controls are normal dials that I can turn.
It's a real showstopper if the demisters are on it.
Its the correct way. I rarely even look at the screen. Sometimes to know how fast i actually am. I do not need the RPMs, i do not need the oil pressure, i do not need to know where i am, there is a window to the outside world.
If you do not like that please buy a VW. They will fer sure build you a VW Golf with stalks in 2100.
My daily is a 2007 Prius. Even a car of this vintage has a touch screen for some important functions. Those touch screens are getting pretty old now, and as far as I know nobody makes replacements. Eventually, the supply of good used screens is gonna run out. It's kinda sad to see a perfectly good car get junked on account of a touch screen, but that's the reality we're facing.
You speak out of my heart. The way with these bloody screens is 100% the wrong direction, it's idiotic and dangerous.
How they are even allowed on the road is more than a joke.
Cheers 👍💪✌
What’s wrong? Lights are automatic, wipers are automatic, climate is automatic.
Why would you need to press tge buttons all the time while driving?
On EVs you almost never need to touch brakes, because “one pedal driving”.
So basically EV driving is as simple as steering wheel + one pedal. That’s it.
There’s no need even to switch to high beam anymore because it’s automatic with adaptive pixels
Most things are automatic, and you can use voice control for others.
@@alexeysamokhin9629 then why was he having such a hard time??

The rage at the beeps, amazing...
As someone who's considering getting one, I loved this video.
There are a few things in the Model 3 that make me think twice about getting one:
- No buttons, everything is through the damn screen
- No dash or even a HUD
- No stalks, now we get capacitive buttons in the steering wheel. Also, the gear selection is either in the screen or some capacitive buttons near the dome lights(where the hazards are)
- No Android Auto
- Have to rely on public charging
I drove an bmw years ago and had the same rage. All that beeps only disturbed me. I was changing lanes and that shit starts to beep because of a distant car i already saw, but it makes me feel like i'm a dumb guy that is about to crash into something i didn't saw... so i didn't changed to the other lane because i started to look where i was going to crash... the same happened into a parking lot where it beeps all the time because of the columns there...
So i started to ignore that beeps and drove like a normal person. In other words, it does not have any utility besides disturbing the driver and impressing bad drivers so they buy it.
hahaha...
@toxicr you can change the sensitivity of those warning systems or turn them off entirely. That's not the main point
EV's are for people with a garage / ability to charge from home. Public charging is a MESS, and it's stupidly expensive also, in the US the price at some of the chargers is almost equivalent to filling up with gas..
I did hear there is / are at least one aftermarket dash screen you can get for the M3, someone told me but I didn't confirm... It's my main gripe with the car too.
@@volvo09 I've already looked at some offerings and they integrate with the car software but it's not the same has having it from factory
Check for Tesla superchargers in your area - they are awesome and worry-free. Make sure you have charging at home or at your office - I almost never use any other chargers, it's not just worth it. The screen is luckily smooth and easy to understand, in general. And you can use voice commands if you don't like it + some things are available on the steering wheel scroll wheels. Also, the new model 3 is amazing - no better car for the price.

Especially when using a phone even for a call is a no-no (which is good btw, but I would love to see a ban on these big screens).
glad you're visiting Portugal. Hope you're enjoying it. Don't forget to try out the good food (specially in the north regions) and a good "vinho tinto" to add some flavour to that dull car experience😄
I am a petrolhead and an EV enthusiast and I approve of this message :D
Note on the annoying backseat driver stuff: as testing regimes like Euro NCAP evolve and include more of these driving assists, it's becoming impossible to make a car that scores 5 stars without it. It's annoying and distracting and things like the Lane Keep Assist (the thing that nudged you back to the center) is downright dangerous - my cheapy 2022 petrol car has it and I hate it. We can only hope that, as these technologies mature, they'll become more accurate and less intrusive.
I had to disable lane keep assist on my Mazda 3 2020. That system intervened in a roundabout and throw me off track,I barely had enough time to correct my trajectory. It’s been off since then.
I think all these things should be banned.
The car will never know if you want to cross the lane or not, so it will always be intrusive.
I think the car should only act as a last resource.
But people should stop wanting electronic babysitters for everything.

Oh and try driving one of these through the chaos of a Southeast Asian city with motorcycles appearing out of nowhere and freaking out the system :D
On the bright side, more and more manufacturers are finally getting the message and going back to buttons and knobs in newer models. Whether Tesla will actually ever do that...

Brilliant commentary at the end. Loved to see and hear this side of you.
Great video. Just a tip for anyone who is apprehensive about using the UI on the tablet: Most controls are available through the voice interface. It works better than you might expect. Press the button on the right side of the steering wheel and tell the car what you want. "open trunk", "open glovebox" etc.
Exactly what I thought, even I've never seen an electric car in front of me.
What if you don't speak english/have bad accent or just don't have voice control in your native language?
Even if you do it takes at least 5s+ to say "turn on hazards" when you have to focus on driving in an emergency instead of 0.5s to push a big red button
I'll be sure to let my family with very heavy accents know that. I'm sure it will go fine. And I'm sure it understands sign language for my niece right? Because she can't speak, but I'm sure they thought of that.

I’m 33 years old, I’m a car mechanic and I really try to get in touch with the new age and stay positive about it. And every time I do, I’m so disappointed that I return to my 1996 Audi A6 and feel just fine, because it does what it’s meant to do. Always, reliable, no matter whether I go 5, 50 or 5000 Miles.
Glove box opens only by touch menu?! This is a good reason to fill fuel in a Tesla, but not for driving but to burn the damn thing up… Is it so hard to make these essential functions work without a ridiculous attempt for reinventing the wheel? Arrrghhh…
I already have several different apps on my phone for different parking areas of the city, and that really pisses me off. Having several MORE apps for different charging stations would just add to it.
Plus its another thing if you leave your phone at home. Theres no drive-off policy for EV charging.
In a world where there’s a (sometimes “necessary”) app for everything; being able to have as little apps and intrusions as possible is an under rated yet so simplistic, thing to have. Every time I need a new app or account for something I want to groan aloud lol
There’s is if you use Tesla and their chargers.
You just go to a closest supercharger, plug in, wait 25 minutes and drive away. You DO NOT need a phone with you.
man i'm so glad you went on a mountain run in the tesla. 99% of tesla videos just show drag racing. a lot of people don't fully understand how good the handling is with all the weight being so low in the car. it handles WAY better than you'd expect from essentially a car competing with a honda civic or corolla
Yeah with about 1/2 the vehicles weight being soooo low it must be surprisingly nimble. One would expect it to handle like a truck if you simply looked at weight.
@@volvo09 it drives like a perfectly balanced heavy car.
It's $15,000 more expensive than a Honda Civic? Put it this way, I was just in the market for a car, and the civic was an option, the model 3 was not, even if I had wanted it.
@@aggonzalezdc with 15000 worth of gas, you drive a long way. That's why EV are not for everyone and can't replace like for like combustion engine cars.
@@jmbpinto73 yep. If I had the money I'd LOVE to have a little EV to get groceries with. But I don't have the luxury of owning an EV. Which is why the legislation in places like CA where they want no more ICE cars after 2030? So basically, only rich people can buy cars in California now? I mean, I even OWN A HOME, I'm way better off than a lot of Americans, and even I can't charge an EV at home! if I could afford one at all. It's crazy to me. EVs are good, do not get me wrong (even if I think Tesla is a bit shite, but that's not a problem with EVs), but you can't force them on everyone!
I think the most terrifying trend of modern society is the way that big companies treat customers. They treat them like complete idiots. What we will get if everything and everyone treat everyone like idiots? We'll get a society full of idiots, unable to think, to act, to do anything. This is scary.
Your observations about the obsessive data collection without the need is spot on and needs to be said more often
Oh man...... I feel your frustration.
After (briefly) owning a new Yaris Hybrid, I went back to an analogue Hyundai i10. Lost a lot of money doing so.
As with the Tesla, it has windows I can see through. I see the signposts better than the car. I keep in my lane etc.
Ritual when getting in the car...... Auto stop "off". Speed camera off...... Menu, down, down, OK, Menu, Menu, Menu, Menu.
Set off...... Long press of "lane assist". I am now driving. Next journey...... All the above. Sounds like a tumble dryer.
One of life's last little pleasures (driving) is nearly lost to me.
I am petrolhead aswell. I have Nissan 200sx S14 which I have rebuilt all by myself. I use it for weekend drives, some slalom and some drifting to have fun and enjoy what an old ICE car could offer. I also have a 2022 Tesla Model 3 Performance as a daily. I also don't agree with people, who wants to pick sides. Probably, it is like if You pick a side and You think that you have picked a better side - your opponents in the opposite side are losing something or are just stupid, and that, for some reason, makes a person think that he is better in that way. Well it is what I could agree on. I think You can have both of both worlds. There is no car, that can beat my TM3P for my taste as a daily. I have a solar panels on a roof, each day I have as much energy to drive as I want to. And I stopped counting the money for daily driving. In the end of the month it costs me 10€-20€ to drive as much as I need. For all the trips I take. It is super reliable, it is predictable, it doesn't need effort at all to control it. All the technology that has got into it is amazing. And for the price of it there is no other car that can be just as fast from the start (3.3 secs/100km/h), as comfy and plenty of space and as cheap to drive. There's nothing in the ICE world for it.
But. Yes. It lacks some things that we had before and lost. I used to say, that best cars were made up until 2005 or so. After that computers took over and ruined much fun from the cars. Not all, but generally. And this is why keeping the "analog" which only need + from the battery and some fuel - is still really fun and enjoyable.
Both cars for me are amazing for what they are. They are just made for different purposes. Sure I can turn on Track mode in my Tesla and start drifting. But no, it would not be fun. I have my S14 for that. And yes, I could try daily drive my S14, but ammount of "back pain", sweat and just the effort needed to drive it... Tesla is for that.

Also few points about the video. You can control windshield wipers with the button on the left and scroll wheel to change it's speed. That beeping You have heard over and over again - I think that it rental company device on the top? My car haven't made on in two years I have it (not talking about warning signals (those three loud BEEP BEEP BEEP)). Also, the minimalism of it, it is love it or hate it. I like it, it saves not only on cost, but on weight, which makes Tesla more efficient. And lot of things can be changed via voice command instead of trying to search via touch screen. I think I had more points in mind, but these are the ones I remember after one hour after watching. :D
"But that's just the defaults, you can turn it off. Maybe. Then you get a system update and it turns it back on again"
That had me laughing out loud.
Thank you so much for this video. I was beginning to think I was the only one left who hated these "built in back seat drivers". Seems like every year the disconnect between drivers and the road gets wider and wider.
OMG this is one of the best comedy films I've seen a while. Thank you D4A!
"it forces me to readapt"
"it's fine! I like it!"
The paradox nature of man....
That’s not natural, that’s being forced into submission by a technocratic overlord..
@@NewEdgeDesignsIt's litteraly the nature of man, and evolution in general, if you didn't adapt to something new out there in the wild, you'd die, simple as that
@@Aymaelful this is revolution backwards. technology exists to make our life easier. by forcing us to adapt it defies its own purpose.
technology is supposed to adapt to humans, not the other way around!
this is why buttons existed in the first place. they are intuitive to use, practical, you have instant tactile feedback.
that touchscreen is nothing more than a way for big companies to save money while sacrificing on user experience.
wake up!
@@Aymaelful Not completely true. We always tried to adapt the environment to us. There is no adapting the Tesla to us.
The paradox of man is that he denies a supreme creator made him, denies the complexity of a single blood cell. Denies the complexity of reproduction and new humans born. Then turns around and designs an ever more complex society within which to live.
Love it man absolutely love it, every true gearhead stands behind ya!
I don't understand why car manufacturers nowadays design mobile entertainment centers with a phone interface on wheels instead of cars.
idk why 28:53 is so interesting "i am not like that and therefore i disliked and fear that which is different from me", guess that way of thinking makes us belong to a certain group easier, (common enemy is a great way to connect), make people more on the same motivation, and thus increase our chance of survival as a group. now that i think of it i notice this happens everywhere, in soccer supporters, music artists and so on.
the best review I have ever seen :D you are amazing, do more
Now people should understand why Bosnian national dishes are things like Chevapi or Burek. Three ingredients. Protein, Carbs and Fet. All naked. Salt and pepper and onions and Kajmak if you must. Man likes his car like he likes his food. Simple but and only necessary flavour. No beeps no submenus.. no passwords.
Another insightful and thought provoking video. The parting comment ‘It’s just a car. A nice car’ is on the mark. We ought to celebrate and enjoy the diversity and choices we are afforded, rather than demonizing them. Henry Ford once said ‘you can have any color as long as its black’. We wouldn’t want that situation now, would we?
A big thing with choosing a modern ICE car instead of a modern EV is the fact that you can fill it up with fuel quickly almost everywhere, to get more range than the EV has, and YOU DON'T NEED TO GIVE THEM YOUR DETAILS.
I agree with you to a point, but you do realize the charging companies could easily make the charging process similar to filling a gas car, but they chose not and I can’t answer that for you. Maybe in time the charging companies will come to see it the way we do, and that is to make the charging process like gassing up a gas car, no application, just plug your credit card in and charge or pay the attendant cash and start charging.
@@rogermartinez78 One can only hope. But the way things are going, all big companies just tries to collect as much data on you and your activities as possible.. And its not getting better (yet?).
Funny sidefact... If you are in the privileged position to have a wallbox at home... you have "never" to charge/refill... Thats a thing that is just this bonkers to ICE Drivers... they just cant handle it. You feel like a person from stone age thinking about the need to search for a gas station or think about the day or time you need to refill... In an EV (with a Wallbox at home) your car is always filled up. You actually need less time for driving maybe a 5min extra to refill. Its just always filled up.
@@SaithronOne It's not bonkers to me as an EV hater. That's a very good thing about EVs. We have to stay objective here. BUT most of us with ICE cars have the petrol stations on our daily commute route anyway so it's not like we're driving any extra distance, most of the time. And good of you ot point out that having a wallbox is a privelege, because most people won't have access to that for many years to come. And the wallbox argument sadly fails if your daily commute is longer than your vehicles range from fully charged, or if you do longer trips from time to time outside of the daily commute. So yes, with a wallbox, that part of EV life is a good thing. But it kinda stops there for me, haha.
I own a home and even I still can't have a wall box at home. EVs are wonderful...for rich people.
I can't afford the car, I can't charge it, I can't do the things I need to do with the range, I can't afford a new car every 4 years and I can't afford the replace the battery in 10 years when it's a paperweight. I cant afford a second car I can rely on for when my commutermobile won't work. Sure, there's lots of little situations it would be better to use an EV for. If I were made of money I'd have one, in addition to my long distance car, and my fun car.
first day with the car, can you make another after 1 week of using it? seems a nice car even being an old model.
this was a very funny video,
the trials of getting into a new vehicle,
i woulda loved to see this on the new model 3 with the stalkless design,
yes indeed the learning curve is something else,
that said after learning all the details of how different it is vs the old car you were driving,
it becomes an enjoyable experience.
that smile just all over his face when he punches it for the first time, total gold.
I was laughing all the way through, not at you, but at myself because I realized it could just as well have been me ranting and looking like I was feeling sick and on the verge of throwing up 😂
Man, those sentences you gave make you seem like a cartoon villain :D
I AM a cartoon villain
I don't even like the auto climate control in my Civic. At least it lets me manually override things, like turning off A/C compressor a few minutes before I get home (so the evaporator can be dried).
I prefer manual everything in my Fit. It has physical HVAC everything, including physical recirculate knob I can sweep from left to right.
That's why I'm a fan of the Yaris, same thing, cheap, non-nonsense commuter that can also be quite fun to drive :D
As an American, it is genuinely entertaining to see (who i would consider to be) a definitive knowledge on automobiles, in a Tesla for the first time. There are so many things that you know that I don’t about cars, and seeing something so familiar to me be alien to you is awe inspiring.
Also, watching you go through the stages of grief as you adjust to an electric car is hilarious on its own, this might be the funniest episode I’ve ever seen.
Never words were more true. I didn't know many of the details you just showed us, but now I'm even more convinced that these are frustrating cars for frustrated people
I'd really like you to try and show a Hyundai Ionic 5 N
Me too!
kinfa funny how much effort they make to replicate the dynamics of a gasoline car, but I'd love to drive one too :D
And hyundai HAS physical buttons for primary needs & and interface … but it’s slower than Tesla…
"TURN ON HAZARDS!"
Yet they are right above his head lol
Man, I understand you SO MUCH!!!!! This is why I drive a 1st series Giulia 2.0. And I'm angry that it's only with 8 ZF automatic gearbox and not available manual. But at least it drives very fine.
They have to explain me why there are fines for driving with a phone in the hand, but it's all good when you have a ginormous tablet that you need to look every other km to do everything!
The constant look of disgust, even when saying something positive, is the best thing I've seen in a while 🤣
This has to be the most hilarious review of an electric car. So much anger 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He so angy and sad. 😡😡😔😢
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Had same experience, was a BMW not a Tesla, so it wasn't this bad.
But the problem is not the EV part.. the EV motor is great.
But they turned a car inoto an appliance and I don't wanrt an appliance, I want a car.
i have a tesla - its terrific but i just loved listening to this guy! it does take some getting used to but now when i get in other cars all the buttons now feel too busy haha. one point he makes which is really true - we lost the cars with character a long time before evs turned up and all the road cameras and policing for 'your safety' already squeezed all fun out of life in many spheres.
the thing that gets me is there's no inherent reason why charging an EV needs to be any more complicated than filling up a gasoline car. you're paying for units of energy in one form or another. it COULD literally be as easy as "insert card" like it is on a gas pump. it's just that tech bros decided they need our data.
This may be an unpopular opinion amongst this channel, but I think I like this type of content more than the regular one. I love your philosophical takes
In this case he was word for word "driving 4 answers" he went out to take a drive to get answers.
brilliant video , loved the reaction but my daily car is a 350Z and I would not even test ride one of those stupid Game Boys on wheels just saw the 2 hand instruction to close the bonnet, honestly I'd use my arse instead..!
sub menu to open that globe box?? wtf
Elon Musk is such a moron lol
If I ever had any doubts about buying a Tesla, now I don't. I'm more than certain I'd never ever spend my own money on this beeping machine. Great review, man!
You can turn the warnings off. Seriously, people have really weird reasons for hating.
You get used to the screen and I actually miss it when I get into my other car, which is a very modem German car. When you put it in reverse the quality and resolution is night and day.
I'm surprised you didn't comment on the stereo system I was blown away by the sound quality. Everyone should copy the sound bar at the front. It's simply amazing. Destroys the super expensive bummeister option in my other car.
You should have drove cybertruck and traumatized yourself on camera
On a serious note, I would actually look forward to hear your take in some of the enthusiast-oriented models like EV6 GT or a Lucid Sapphire.
Funny thing, you can't get a cybertruck in the EU because it doesn't even come near passing pedestrian safety standards
I already know all the dislikes are from people who didn't watch until the end. (I also hate modern cars)
How deeply I understand your feelings bro! There's nothing like mechanical, classical touch... I also prefer the warm of touch instead of cold screen. :)
You made my day man 😁 100% on excess data collection! 😅 love your treatment of tribalism bro. Keep up the great work!!
Respect for every word you said
Hand to god honnesty: this is the easiest to perceive review/impression of a car that any other vlogger that I've seen. I can empathise with your description and understand the car. Good content as always.
Its an efficient tool. Its just as bland and annoying as it looks
I get to sit in the Tesla Model S Plaid of a colleague, every few weeks.
Positives: incredible acceleration and is pleasantly silent in the city (it's the definition of smoothness).
When you're the only person sitting there, it seems very spacious.
BUT you can't fit in comfortably 3 normal weighted people on the back seat.
I found it funny to see some anti-nausea pills left in the back door.
I think you could experience a somewhat more "real" feeling if you drive one of those cheap asian EVs from India and China. Some have the bare minimum setup to make it a car. Those still have the buttons we all love and you can adjust the seat without using Google.
From one grease monkey to another; this is by far the most fun Tesla review I have ever seen. Please do a part 2 when you get more acquainted with the dreaded tablet.

I would buy an electric car, if! If it has traditional buttons, decent range, easy to charge and is similar in price and resell value to a regular car. Electricity in inself is no problem for me. But this trend that Tesla started of "tabletizing" cars, l find repulsive
Most of the controls can be done without the screen. This video isn't a very good representation because he doesn't know how to configure anything. It takes time to get accustom to it and set it up the way you want it. They are similar price. If you actually own the car, you can use the Tesla super chargers, which is a lot cheaper and seamless. But where it really shines is when you can charge from home.
Loved this video whilst I drive a modern manual car because I want to feel my interactions with it, I guess it's the disconnect from the road you miss with modern cars. It took wider wheels and a rear sway bar to get some feel into the electric steering but it is still vague in the straight ahead.
I just loved the passion you put into it.
Cheers
this is by far the best review of the tesla nonsense I've ever heard, and honestly the best testimony to a dying auto industry
