My FIRST EVER SOLO Hike - Beinn Each, Scotland

  • My first ever wild camping video will be up next week! 🏕️ (This will be the second of many firsts this summer!)
Beinn Each is a great hike for doing solo, and took me around 3 hours in total (including stops). I would recommend it for a summer hike as there are some steep sections and the reviews all say the path is pretty hard to follow in winter. This is a great one for views of Stuc A’Chroin (which I seemed to have a lot of trouble saying in this video 😆) and Ben Ledi, down to Loch Lubnaig and even across to Ben More in the distance.

    TICKS
So I know I mentioned ticks a lot in this video (I even cut out another two times I mentioned it 😂) HOWEVER it is so important to be aware of them as they can cause lyme disease which you absolutely do not want to get. See the NHS website for more details on it www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-...

No. 135 out of 222 Corbetts. A good one to get away from the crowds.

Nice video. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to viewing your solo camp. I've had a handful of ticks over the years with several bites. Thankfully I've been checked and not contracted Lymes disease. I've not really found any need to continually check for ticks. I'd highly recommend spraying all of your gear at least once with a strong insect repellent. Including the inside of your tent after pitching. It's hard to say how effective this is. Remember to take a midge net and smidge on your camp otherwise it could be a bit of a nightmare. It's best to put the critters to the back of your mind and just go for it, be safe and have fun. Good luck with your first solo camp 😎

Thanks! And thank you for the tips :) Got a midge net and some smidge sorted, and good idea spraying the inside of my tent (worth trying anyway!)

Well done for giving it a go. I wonder if doing it off camera a few times would take the pressure off . And finding a spot you liked without midges. You could always try a nice campsite for trial and error.

Brilliant video. Ticks are evil! I had a few but only over the last few years

Wear something that ticks will stand out on instantly, black although fashionable is just a disguise for the little buggers!

I did indeed - and am now starting to realise that on pretty much every mountain you can find a good camping spot!
