I’m watching this while my 6 months M2 MacBook Air died for no reason. Service Center suggested a logic board repair. I’ve no faith that this will even cross 2 years mark.

@pldaniels - Do you think 3rd Party Hubs, Chargers might be the culprit/s causing these faults?
@@nilomyki I am finding with modern high density MLCC caps it's just the fact that there's so many of them on these boards and they have sensitivity to physical shock above and beyond their already somewhat-delicate nature due to the very high VuF densities.

@iBoff RCC Hey there, thanks for all of you, and your team's hard work saving, and developing kits for these machines! I recently bought an x-gpu project+nevbolt for my 2011 MBP 17' A1297 8,3. Your work with NVMe adapter kits and repair work are making what most regard as e-waste more valuable, fun projects for the technically inclined such as myself and I really appreciate your work! Thank you again! I was thinking; in the same vein as your other mods, I would love an upgrade kit for the 8,3 to replace the aged USB 2.0 controller with a 3.0 controller and ports from 2012+, assuming a EFI patch/reprogram wouldn't make the port+controller and obviously required and non-existing adapter board swap impossible. Come to think of it, it might not even be possible to attach 3.0 ports to a 2011 board due to the lack of 3.0 landings. Heck, don't even know if the required PCH/CPU lines are connected. Perhaps more interposers can make that work? Just thinking out loud but I think if a kit could be developed to adapt native 3.0 to the 2011 8,3 it would make a really powerful machine when paired with the x-gpu kit, and an ivy bridge cpu swap. It might be more practical to just use the under utilized Expresscard/34 slot to add 3.0ish compatibility, but nobody makes a good card these days from what I've seen. I just love the 8,3, I think it has the best screen and speaker combo of any mac from the "user repairable" era and anything that helps bump it into the future I'm all for!

My Macbook M1 had the screen go black after 14 months of light and limited use. 2 months after the warranty ended.
Just one day it wasn't working. Apple store told me to buy another Macbook essentially, since it wasn't worth repairing (vs refurb) and I was out of warranty.
I still have no idea what went wrong with it, so now it is used as a mini desktop for compiling iOS/Mac apps, and nothing else really. I can use an external monitor thankfully also
it's essentially a Mac Mini now.
When you shine a light on the display do you see anything, eg desktop icons or whatever? If yes, perhaps it is just the backlight fuse.
@@mojoblues66 There is a very faint backlight visible , but no icons/text/images.

@@mojoblues66 Thank you. It could be a FlexGate issue I suppose, yeah, though I don't have the skill to fix it myself.
I'll continue to use it as a mac mini for now, and just continue to curse Apple under my breath for existing.
Impressive work. Where is your shop located?
I wished a repair shop like yours existed in my area. I took my MacBook Air to an authorized vendor and he told me that there was liquid damage. He wanted €650 for repair. There was definitely no liquid damage, which I could prove by opening the device myself. I cleaned the logic board with isopropanol and it lived on for 5 years. Sadly, it's dead now.

I would 3D print nice enclosure for the Android phone and camera. When working it’s easy to drop the phone and it will probably land on protruding camera damaging it or the USB-C port.
7:43 look at that great Keyboard imprint on the screen, that is an actual scuff imprint. Which Apple still haven't addressed on their newer MacBook's. You cannot remove that scuff. The only way is to get a screen protector.

Can i boot into using only the logic board and external display . No battery, keyboard , touchpad, display . Only with the logic board and external display will it turn on ?
my laptop dead recently,
some great repair guy like him repaired for a minimal price(i don't know how much he is charging)
brand service centers sometimes refuse to repair(all laptop brands not only 🍍)
these things are so small(not visible to naked eye) microscope and constant video feed is required,
surgen level hand movement(precise hand movement) and patience are required(most of the componets are cheap) some are expensive

We never seen Hynix NANDs die yet, but maybe that's because their occurrence is lesser than Toshiba/Kioxia. But we're not worrying too much since you can replace them
Hello I have a 13 inch MacBook Pro m1 2020 and it got run over by a truck but it still chimes but no internal and external display is this a logic board issue?
I just have a M1 Macbook Mini. It wont turn on. I trow it out, all the data in backuped.
I do not like were you check board with a battery is connected, I think that first step should be disconnecting the battery and checking the board without it

ohh my goddd, this is so crazy to see. a small cap can literally turn these laptops into bricks?!!! I guess the way you store these laptops really matters? You can't have them in too cold conditions from what I'm researching on these caps. Any other precautions to be had ??

Instead of shilling you should try the Seek with the macro lens. I have the Compact Pro and with the macro lens it works perfectly. It has higher resolution sensor than the Infiray too. But I get you need money from the affiliate links...
the trouble is began with type c usb pd,, and people not used OEM or Original Accessories... as MBA user, i am pretty concert and worries bout this IC power module😔😔😔

Disappointing to hear most were a manufacturer defect guess I'll keep the Apple Care for my M1.
What if just remove the dead capacitor without replacement?
Basic question, isn't 3.3V injection to high ? Isn't the safe limit usually 1 to 1.2V ?
There is no safe voltage when using injection. Because modern elements on board can work from 0.8v up to 20v+. On this video I didn't see that technician tested shortages between other rails and not ground. He just make it burn and shine on IR camera :)

- Years of experience to know what to check
- Interpreting what the signals mean
- Having the tools to get those relevant signals
- Having trained staff and effective processes (e.g. impressive process having another party in QC cross check the work done!) to do the work
But then I think most people who would click on this video know the above already :)

Logic board. I had the 15” MacBook Pro 2007 and only lasted 5.5 years. Guess what die of? Thankfully I bought it open box but it wasn’t cheap!!
