The MCU was my childhood, every year I would be excited for the next movie and how it all connected to a bigger story. After Endgame it's never felt the same but there's still a bigger story that has me excited as a fan (Secret Wars) and I look forward to these projects that tease the setup. I just hope the quality will get back to the way it was
I agree with josh in this. Also, Scorsese needs to stfu. I love his movies but that quote comes off as pretentious and stupid. In my opinion he was just jealous of the number of screens allocated to those movies compared to his.

I haven't given up on Marvel or Star Wars, but i definitely don't love alot of what each has put out. Liked Mando and Boba Fett,liked Loki and 4 or 5 other things in phase 4 or 5. So as bad as much of the stuff both of put out,still in a little bit.😂

I think it's fair to criticize marvel as much as anyone pleases. But that usually means you enjoy some of the MCU, so everyone shouldn't necessarily give up!

I won’t give up, X-men 97 was a breath of fresh air. True that’s animation, and to me the last solid good movie was Shang Chi. However Deadpool and Wolverine is coming up an hopefully the next movie will follow the same general direction with a solid story🤞

That is exactly what happened to me! So collecting in 6th grade when my teacher threw away my freshly fully collected X-cutioner's song and a couple of phalanx issues... stopped until 2008, which defibbed the Marvel nerd that lived in hibernation feel down inside, I was alive again! Love the mcu in a way I can't fully describe, but it brought the innocent wonder within back to life.

I remember going to the theater with my dad and watching Iron man 2008 and seeing that post credit scene and my mind was blown. I remember yapping my dad's ear off on the way home about all the characters they're gonna bring in and team up and it's funny that back then Tobey was gonna be our Spiderman and the OG fantastic four and the original xmen. What a time to be a kid

There is so much to still enjoy in the mcu. Spider-Man, daredevil, guardians, strange, Thor, moon knight, X-men and f4 coming. Can’t let a few duds ruin it

I haven't given up on Marvel but I also don't really have any excitement for them right now. I still watch the projects but I'm not nearly as fervent to get new info or excited to watch trailers as I was during the Infinity Saga. Shit I used to draw Iron man, Dr. Strange, etc but I have zero interest to do any of that for the new characters (to be fair I'm just too busy as well).
Perhaps it's just me getting older, but Marvel just hasn't done a good job developing an interesting overall story or characters to really get invested in lately. I want to be excited, but I don't have any characters I'm actually excited to see besides like Deadpool/wolverine. Even then, it's no where near what it used to be. Maybe it's just a me thing lol
That’s normal when the content hasn’t been great like what you’ve been used to for years on years. But in the end, when they get back on track, this dry period will be a blip on the radar, I hope.

I enjoyed the trip down memory lane, lol. I feel you on that one. I personally always wondered before the 2000's X-Men movie, why ppl making movies, couldn't see what I was seeing as a kid in those characters and just adapt it on the big screen! The MCU is child's dream coming true for me personally! What Feige & co have done is nothing short of a miracle! The understanding, the care, answering feed backs from the fans on screen?! What more could we want as fans?? The MCU went in a slump recently, but what has been achivied deserves to be written in the history books somehow..

I feel the exact same way, Josh. I enjoy anticipating the next project (albeit not as much as I used to but I think a lot of us are at that point), and whatever criticism I do have comes form the fact that I know that Marvel can do better. Similar to how a parent may scold their child but will always be there to encourage them to do their best. Great video!
If it wasn't for my love for both the Marvel Animated shows and the MCU, I wouldn't continue to obsess my need to read all of Marvel Comics. When I started watching this channel, Comics Explained, Variant Comics, and Comicstorian, it made want to love Marvel again like when I was a kid watching Marvel animated shows and movies like Iron Man Armored Adventures, Fantastic Four World's Greatest Heroes, Wolverine and the X-Men, Spectacular Spider-Man, Planet Hulk, Hulk Vs, The Super Hero Squad Show, Spider-Man Unlimited, Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Spider-Man TAS, and X-Men the animated series.
But I'm still excited for the anticipation of what's going to happen on Phase 5 and Phase 6. For God's sake, I have Collected Editions of Spider-Verse, World War Hulk, Avengers vs X-Men, and Secret Wars 2015 as preparation and I currently trying to collect and read all of the Collected Editions and Epic Collections.
But I agree with you, Man. Keep loving the MCU, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise. EXCELSIOR!!!!!!!

im a big marvel comic book fan. started collecting with xmen #1 1991. seeing them animated was great. but ive always dreamed of seeing the live action interpretations. so whatever happens, im still supporting the MCU as they bring to life my favorite characters and story lines

The only thing you forgot to mention is how the future of Marvel actually looks good to anticipate, or at least when it comes to Deadpool and Wolverine. It is a lot easier to be excited for Marvel now when we are so confident and excited about the fact that we will actually be getting good content that is relevant to the larger story, but I do agree with you on this matter no matter what.

This WAS true, but that was when the movies actually lived up to the anticipation. Flop after flop, disappointment after disappointment, you stop having the anticipation of "maybe they fixed it this time"
I think this was a very well produced video and I could see the truthfulness of the message for you. I think that Marvel has the unique advantage of having once succeeded at a long term arc and will always be able to attract talent by pointing to its success and saying we’re doing that again but with you. It might be after a break but it can always come back; the canon is louse enough that fans and creatives will not dwell on what failed and try to incorporate and explain but just quietly ignore.

I've been Marvel my whole life--"Bring on the Bad Guys" trade paperback and "Marvel Men" (the syndicated version of the 1966 "Marvel Superheroes" in the pre-"Star Wars" 1970s--so I can't help it and I'm so glad!!!!

If you want to go one step further beyond comic books being episodic, you also have the fact that comics by their nature especially long running ones done by Marvel and DC employ different artists and different writers. Each artist draws the character differently. Each writer takes the character in a new direction. If applied similarly to films and TV one can wrap their head around a different actor playing the same character or a different director/writing team taking the character in a new and different direction. But alas, that does not translate as well in terms of profits when trying to get the non-comic book readers and non-traditional fans to come and see a live action film of something they never read or appreciated on comic book page.
Anticipation is nice yes. But movie quality is the most important. (Funny I was typing this just as you said not too 😅)

Marvel is like my personal sports team. It doesn't matter if they're not doing good this season, I'm a fan for life. The comics are the same as the movies. Some of them hit hard, some not so hard. I read the filler, and the really weird stuff and the retcons. I LOVE the characters! The Marvel universe/multiverse is an amazing place for fun and exciting storytelling where anything goes.

It’s simple I don’t give on things I enjoy. Even when they suck. Yeah some the movies suck, not all, same with the Disney+ shows. Plus marvel has a mountain of comic story’s to tell if done correctly. Just need to find a good way to translate that from comic book to screen because it hasn’t been working that well since Endgame👏👏
Thank you that's what I've been saying for a couple of years now it is trendy to shit on marvel, yes there has been mistakes made (thor 4, ethernals). Yet somehow people forgot the amazing saga that was the infinity saga and how it gave us 10+ years of great movies and story telling.
I’m just sticking around until Secret Wars. Watching every single episode and movie when it comes out has been exhausting but I made this decision when it was announced so I’m here till the “end”.
My faith in the MCU's future rests solely on Deadpool and Wolverine.
Dr Strange 2, Thor Love and Thunder and The Marvels have one by one pressed the heel on the back of my head, Thor Love and Thunder was nearly the nail in the coffin for me.
Deadpool and Wolverine is the final straw, make or break for me.

while i appreciate you saying that, i don’t think it’s that monumental of an epiphany, only bc i’ve already felt that way about the mcu for so long. since day one really. i have lost sleep over certain decisions and certain movies they have released recently but im hopeful the ship will right itself once again.

I’m not gonna stop being a fan of something that I’ve loved my whole life even if they have struggled for a couple years and if marvel is able to come back I don’t wanna be one of those bandwagon fans who claims to love marvel all of a sudden
I always thought the weird Professor X post credits scene was funny because the cartoon ended with Professor X going into space to stop from dying which was also a weird way to end the show 😅

Look at phases 1-3. 1 was great. 2 was a downward trend with most of the movies. 3 was amazing. 4 was downward. 5 has been pretty good
Although I see your point about post-credit scene and their importance, I have to say that I am TIRED of post-credit scenes. I agree that they were one of the most important secrets of MCU's successful recipe (if not the most important, arguably) but it feels like they are currently abusing them with no purpose at all. For example, we are in the Multiverse Saga, which is supposed to cover Phases 4, 5 and 6, specifically in the middle of Phase 5 and we literally have NO IDEA of what to expect. And I mean it the bad way, not the "suspenseful" good way. Phase 4 and 5 have teased us, through post-credit scenes, a hundred thousand upcoming stuff that do not seem connected at all.
And, regarding their purpose, it is not clear at all, but a total mess. Do they want to introduce new characters (Moon Knight, Shanh Chi, Eternals, Hercules) and new teams (Midnight Sons, Young Avengers)? Do they want to bring back nostalgic legacy characters (Spider-Men, X-Men)? Do they want to remake previously successful cool franchises (F4, Blade)? Do they want to compartmentalize each hero to different categories (street-level, space/cosmic, supernatural, multiverse)? I mean, man, we are in the middle, having watched so much unnecessary content (I mean certain Disney+ series and films, not your kind of content, which is actually a lot more fun than Disney's), and we don't even know who the big bad is gonna be (Kang, Doom, Beyonder?)
In the Infinity Saga, they made all these different character connections work. I could watch the space heroes GotG fighting Thanos alongside the magician Doctor Strange, the tech genius Tony Stark and the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man with no problem, because the connections and the reason each hero was there was clear and solid. Now, whether the next big bad is Kang or Doom, I really can't see why would Daredevil, the street level crimefighter, Blade, a vampire hunter, fighting alongside Eternals, Captain Marvel and Hercules. Why would they? There is no plot connection. And even if they wish to establish the connection now, it will take more than one and a half Phase (and I really hope I am wrong and they pull it through, for our, the fans' sake).
CONCLUSION: When there seems to be a solid storyline, post-credit scenes are the coolest thing (I agree), but, when nothing seems connected, all the post-credit scenes do is just perpetuating the confusion.
If I were Disney, here are the two things I would do
1. since I named the new phases "Multiverse Saga", I would focus on Multiverse Movies, bringing all the nostalgic characters, cconclude in an epic battle to save the Multiverse, which will end in one new universe which will combine all the previous ones and next phases would focus on all the different aspects of Marvel Universe, one for street level, one for supernatural, one for mutants, one for space/cosmic OR
2. since I intended on introducing new cool team ups and produce tv series, each series would focus on a new superhero team, like a series on Young Avengers, Midnight Sons, Illuminati etc and NOT on single characters, with a plot in 6 or 8 episodes, while it could easily be covered in two.
