    I will take a year off. I just want to find out who I am and what I want without the pressure of having to manage school at the same time. It's been years since I could do something without having to think about how it could effect my future. Travelling for a long time, publishing a book without my grades suffering because of the commitment needed to finish and publish it, doing stuff without thinking "I can't do that, I'm busy studying" is just not possible while in school. After finishing school, I'm free for the first time since like 13 years or more (I'm from Germany, some schools have 12 grades, some have 13)
    For 13 years, I wasn't able to do things without thinking about studying, exams and my future.
    A gap year offers enough opportunities to do just that.

Im Moment sind viele Dinge ungewiss und ich weiß einfach noch nicht was ich mir für doe Zukunft wünsche .. deswegen werde ich wahrscheinlich auch ein gap year machen. Arun I took a gap year after highschool and I didn’t apply to any colleges so instead I went to do a one year graphic design course at a local technical college and in january of 2020 I decided where I wanted to go and now here I am at a university. It doesn’t matter when you apply it won’t affect it and if you take a gap year you’re already smarter than most because you’ve had an actual experience out of school.

      @semdavidtimothysitanggang9491 Před 7 lety +10

      k678kk well it does make a huge difference, depends on what major you are going to take, for example : medical college, you will get old before you became a docter and settled, other disadvantage is you will be in a different batch which separates you from your former batch friends, they will graduate first and get the job first, that's why time is so essential

    • @fmartin59
      @fmartin59 Před 7 lety +19

      What you said is true. However, the gap year is good for career; you can look at what others did to get the job so you can prepare.

      @@semdavidtimothysitanggang9491 Being one year older will likely not make you an "old man" in your peers' eyes. If anything, they might assume you just started grade school a year later, like many children do. I think taking the time to explore your personality and priorities without parents and teachers breathing down your neck is more important than worrying about being a year older than other students.

    I think it is better to work for a few years in non-technical jobs; like sales and marketing or HR. This will give you a chance to learn what you like and dislike in working and will also earn you money and make your CV look great.
    Also if you do a 'travelling' gap year when you apply for jobs in the future many employees will be very interested in how you pay for it and will be sceptical you are a spoilt middle class kid who won't fit in with the company.

Why even make it a big deal if someone wants to take a gap year of or not lol. There are bigger problems around the world that are more important. Taking a gap year is not lazy but smart, no matter who you are or what you do during that time. Work, travel or just chill. @525Lines Před 7 lety +9

      The chances of finding yourself in a combat zone, even if you volunteered during a war is pretty slim, in all honesty. And you'll never see a more entitled group than vets. Look into it. Tons of benefits. For 2 years of service, it's a no brainer and I still kick myself for not doing it when I was 18.

    • @525Lines
      @525Lines Před 7 lety +3

      It's a lot more than college tuition. There are a lot of benefits. The one I like is that you don't have to come up with a downpayment to get a house. You just start making payments. That's a big boost when you consider a downpayment is in the 5 figures.

    • @525Lines
      @525Lines Před 7 lety +1

      Fair point, though it can vary on how much pressure, time-management, and energy the students have & can deal with. If some are unable to deal with those issues, college is going to be a 10 ton pillar to carry. Not to mention passion & putting the work into what the students wanna be in the future. It’s all a matter of readiness & if the college has something beneficial to offer them.
      You do bring up a good point when it comes to the feeling of going back. Though, that ultimately falls into the person’s hands. Basically it’s their choice nonetheless.
