- Northern Central Railway 4-4-0 17 "York" leads Christmas trains from Hanover Junction to New Freedom, PA. A number of Tannenbaum Tree Train trips went to the Bricker Tree Farm where passengers could pick up their selected Christmas tree and return with it on the trip south.
The "York" was built by David Kloke in 2013 as a representation of a traditional 1860s era passenger locomotive. The American type locomotive puts on a good show on this stretch of Pennsylvania Railroad trackage.

What a beautiful replica of an 1860 vintage engine and coaches they are.
Those 1800s era trains are my favorite
Ah the good old days, when Engineers Steve and Alex were at the throttle, office manager Hillary in the office, and a variety of living historians to give it some atmosphere. I rode the Tannenbaum Train one bitterly cold day in December. The crew had to stay with the train, so I brought all of them hot chocolate sold at the farm. Then back to the "station" to chat some with friends, watch the then active train layouts, and buy some (more) souvenirs. Those times were so enjoyable. I miss them...
I was there at the start, met Alex and Steve back when the coaches were borrowed from the Orange Blossom Special. Was there to witness the arrival of original steam engine built by Kloke to re-enact the gold spike joining of the trans continental RR. Alex left to work with Wilmington & Western RR. Probably left because they got a diesel so they wouldn't have to run steam and allow it to last the full 15 years.
Christmas time, one of my favorite times of the year. A time for when people and friends get together, the birth of Jesus, and letting everyone we love and care for know that no one deserves to be alone on Christmas. Great video btw and Merry Christmas.
Glad you enjoyed

Where's the fourth coach? We were on the first weekend this year great adventure, it became a family tradition.
This is old footage, the new coach only arrived this year
Looks like the shackamaxon
13:01 from the look and sound of that whistle, that’s not the original one. What whistle is that?
Some 6 chime.
This is lovely! But.. how does the loco change its voice on the return journey? These are two different whistles aren't they? Or am I dreaming?
These were taken different years
@@DynamoProductions-trains Yeah, I figured😅 Do you know why the whistle was (ex)changed and when? I assume this was done intentionally as it very much defines the character of a machine?
Whistles get switched when a crew member has one that they want to put on the engine.
@@DynamoProductions-trains Amazing practice. Thanks and keep up the good work!
