- Upgraded to a 42 tooth rear and 12 tooth front sprocket to improve low end torque. Big difference. Thanks to the guys over at WhyGoStock for the advice and super fast shipping.

Gonna have to do this from day one for the sand down here in Florida.
BTW, great dad!
I'm going to try this. I have the 125cc interceptor here in the UK and my son went from a 50cc lt50 to this I ain't restricted it for him yet but yes the speed is brutal for a 6 year old I'm going to try changing sprocket and chain see if that makes the throttle a bit more progressive instead of so sharp.
Very nice vid. I am planning on getting one of these for my son. And was worried about the same problem. Turn down the throttle then no power. You made it look easy. Thanks for posting this vid.
If you pause it at 11:58 and count the teeth on his old sprocket, he actually went from a 41 tooth to only a 42 tooth. There wasn't a 37 tooth on this quad. That is why the chain worked. You only went 1 tooth down in the front, and 1 tooth up in the rear...great video though!
Yep you're right but that makes a huge difference in ratio. 12/42 vs 14/41 is a 3.50 ratio vs 2.93 : it's almost 20% difference. That's massive on the low end.
Good upgrade. in small areas, power is better than speed.
Got my 42, waiting on my 10T. Hoping that'll work better for a 110 that's got the throttle screwed way way way down.
I don't know if you still check this video for comments. Thank you for your review. it tipped the scales for me to purchase this model. I am giving it to my daughter this weekend. I just want to let you know that TaoTao has fixed the gearing problem with 13/45 from the factory. they have also upgraded the tires to a deep aggressive tread.
+S Bostrom Nice! They seem to make small improvements based on consumer feedback on a yearly basis.
Great video!! We appreciate your business!!

My daughter has the same bike and the chain and front sprocket came off one day while riding. I wasn't able to find the sprocket or retainer so I bought new ones. my question is, was there any kind of washers or spacers that go behind the front sprocket? or is it just the sprocket and retainer on that shaft? Thanks for your help.
My problems are wiring issues they pull from the pig tails. I cannot adjust fuel air mixture in the carb. It bogs when throttle is pressed hard from a stop. The rear axle wobbles like mad. The bolts backed out of the rear sprocket and wobbled enough to stretch the cheap metal out, I managed to salvage two and I lock tighted them into the two good threaded holes. The chain adjustment is drilled on a angle and in order to get it remotely straight they have to be about a quarter inch off from each other, that helped with the wobble but the rear end still jut wobbles and that front sprocket just bounces and rattles the. Exhaust fell apart internally with the baffles so I opened that up and welded my own fab I to that and it sounds better and works now. I mean I can keep going and going. Kinda want to find a carb I can service for it though.
I don't remember seeing any washers or spacers behind the front sprocket. But I bet if you email the guys over at Why Go Stock they can tell you for sure.
How did it effect top end speed?
I bought all the same stuff and my stock chain did not work. I cut the new chain down and it works fine.
it ended up one link less than the stock chain.
nice vid..BUT we would of liked to see the quad go up an incline from a dead stop...That was your problem if im not mistaken....so could you film a short vid on machine climbing up hill or incline etc...i have same problem but want to make sure it works before i buy sprockets....thank you...mine is a 125cc coolster.......for my daughter as well
The way the centrifugal clutches work.gotta be rolling to fully engauge
Take the speed skrew out and show her how to use the kill switch :)
that's odd I bought the same quad for my son and I am so impressed that little quad goes up everything my crf250r does
I think they started putting different sprockets on them now to address the problem i had
Goes up hill with ease?
you still have the atv, and if so how is it holding up?
Did you have any issue with bogging down when you got this atv?
whats with those loose axle bearings?
Tao Tao will you recommend that brand to get one I want to get one for my son do they last?
Hey man been looking at one of these to buy but I've heard they have a lot of problems what upgrades would you do to the atv to make it last and make it more durable? Thanks for the vids very helpful!
+Jerry LaPlante I hear the new ones already have the sprocket that I upgraded to, so you are good there I think. I am just letting my kid ride it until something gives out, then I will upgrade it. I am still not having any issues with mine, but my daughter is very easy on it. When my son gets bigger we will find out how durable it really is.
I've got a 12-37 on mine and the first gear is torqued so high that I can barely use first gear without spinning and wheelies. a 15-37 is my next feat.

What about replacing a wheel if the axle is bent
can i get part numbers on both sprockets and chain please..
also did you have to cut chain down or was it good as is
What size did you use
Glad I saw this video, I just got the tao tao 125 tforce. Ordered both sprockets and they also have a shaved link so you Don't have to grind it lol.
Nice! That shaved link wasn't available when I did mine.
@@TheSwampStalker I emailed them and they sent me the link to what I needed, should come in tomorrow hopefully 🙏. Gonna have to post a video as well..
Where did you order from which offered the pre-shaved link? TIA!
The remedy for these Chinese ATV is to take the throttle needle out and move that shim two notches down and It well give it more Grunt
Chain don't have a master link?
Does your front sprocket have a little play in it? my kid has a similar ATV and the front sprocket has a lot of play.
Mine somehow bent, they're really cheap to buy on Ebay for a gearbox with new front sprocket
I have 2 of these, I know what you mean about bad performance with the throttle governed. I did that for about 2 weeks to let my 4 yr old get used to the throttle, then I turned the governor completely off. The kids figured out their comfort speed pretty quickly, unfortunately they do that by having a mishap or two, but after that they are both good. They tackle decent hills with no problem and didn't feel the need to mess with much after that. Good vid. Check my channel to see my daughter tackle the hills around my parents house in the snow. Good little machines for the money.
I will check out your video. Thanks! I got a steal on a 2 year old polaris outlaw 50 that a guy bought and it sat for over a year without being cranked. I rebuilt the carb and it runs great now so I ended up selling the tao tao. It was a great little atv.
The problem is if you have gears people will redline in one gear till it blows up. With a belt they don’t blow up but people don’t realize when the clutch has grip at a certain speed like 10mph and ride while the belt slips constantly, then wonder why everything they try breaks.
Were you able to use the same chain or did you need to go bigger? if so what the chain count now?
justin pope what you have to do is if you size down you take off the master link and remove chain links. If you size up, you will need to get a bigger chain depending on the amount of teeth the sprocket you get has
Any idea what the right chain length ended up being?
he used the same chain
Hey I have the same quad does it have the random 2nd gear tourque at almost redline
I have one too mine will rev to redline on blocks but under load it bogs down at 2700 and dies
It comes with a 41tooth rear sprocket on the 2021 tao tao 4 wheeler.
That is a needed improvement. Thanks for sharing!
@@TheSwampStalker I just installed the 12 tooth, it runs great.
@@leroyjenkins3973 put the 12t front on my daughters coolster 125cc with a RK chain and quick exhaust mod it does donuts at even just half throttle even with my on it at 180lb’s so I guess the come along way from then until now we also added 2” wheel spacers all the way around for stability and some aftermarket front shocks it’s a great little quad for the money
That tattoo on the right arm....it's very similar to an IBAN tattoo. The IBANs are from BORNEO, formerly known as the Head Hunters...Where did you get the tattoo..?
+Gurudata01 Not sure who those guys are you are talking about, but I got mine upwards of 20 years ago in Gulfport, MS. Can't even remember the name of the place.
Best suitable sprocket size for 150cc gy6 engine china quadbike for better torque?
Email the guys at whygostock dot com. Let them know what bike you have and they will recommend a sprocket set.
@@TheSwampStalker thanks for the reply..
Hey I am a adult riding one how do you make it faster?
Racing CDI and coil new plug. Mine runs fine without choke so I removed it all. Also high high high octane. I'm going 12 from 14 in my 110cc
You could have adjusted rage clutch instead of spending money. There's a silver cap on the right side take it off and there's an adjuster
Range clutch???....where is it????...and what exactly does that do?????....I need hill climb power....cloister 125..is terrible on a bump or small hill....
@@zquad5853 guess these quads are really hit or miss my daughter’s coolster 125cc pulls me and her together up steep grades without any trouble at all...then j swapped the front sprocket down to a 12t for a little extra torque but even stock it really had zero trouble at all
My tao tao 125 cc atv wont go fast i need help
Bigger sprocket in the front smaller in the back remove the speed limiter
Do you torque your tire lug nuts? If so at what lbs ?
I put them at 85lbs
@@TheSwampStalker holy crap that high?? Wow!!
Remember the 12 tooth front sprocket and 42 rear sprocket is not the best set up for every Taotao ATV. All Taotao 110 and 125 models do not have the same sprocket set up!!!
I upgraded my rear sprocket to 60 tooth and uograded the tires to 21inch from 16inch. Man i can climb up a 50 degree hill on straight sand now. Dont know why they gear these so shitty... im 195lb
I bought 1 for 100 bucks not running this damn thing has too much power for a kid
.. I ride my 6 yo & im a big man almost 300 ... & the lil thing still does almost 40 lol
dose any one know what the front sprocket is for the chinese coolster 125cc
4wheel drive
hi
turn the speed up and tell her to go slow
Just the name says it tao rao. I would trust a coolster before a Tao tao.
It's the same bike w different names.
Same bike different names
Your daughter should be wearing a helmet while riding a quad regardless of how fast she's going.
I hope you preach to every person who drives 30mph through the store parking lot too. That is far more dangerous and kills many more kids than going 3mph on a atv without a helmet.
TheSwampStalker I'm not trying to start a fight. I have two kids, one of which has the same quad. I just wouldn't want to see anyone's child get hurt because eventually they will when they're riding. I ended up trading in her quad with the automatic transmission for the semi auto so she can basically go where we go.
My 2 stoke 80cc has more power then that
Hey dad out some shoes and helmet on that kid?
How about you worry about yours and I'll worry about mine
@@TheSwampStalker You don't appear to be worried about them?
Your carb is lean.thats why it’s got no torque.
Nope
No helmet and barefoot great dad.
You take care of yours, I'll take care of mine.
