It is indeed a movie song. From Waiting To Exhale with Angela Bassett, Whitney, Loretta Devine & Lola Rochon. It's a great movie with great reviews. The soundtrack features only r&b female vocalists such as Aretha, Patti, Toni, Brandy, TLC... It was entirely produced by Babyface and it sold over 10 million copies worldwide 💯
As incredible Whitney was, can we just pay respect to the pianst at the beginning playing in the moment with Whitney's impromtu timing, the band following her every move. This was a masterclass not only from Whitney but her epic band.
It's from her second starring movie! She's was an Alist movie star at this time on her career! Something still unmatched by any other singer to movie-star artist. She sweated heavily due to singing her A@& off, that's a lot of physical work!
Not quite sure I agree with unmatched by another singer to movie-star artist, because there several long before her Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and arguably the biggest ever Doris Day who started as a big band singer (Sentimental Journey was a number one hit in 1945) and was the top box office star 4 years in a row and in the top 10 for a decade, something nobody else has ever done. But there is still just one Whitney Houston and that magnificent voice.

I know the original lyrics say "shoop shoop" because it's from the Waiting To Exhale soundtrack from the movie and the Shoop Shoop song is on there as well....
I thought I was tripping but I swear it sounds like she said shoot you. So I researched what she was going through at the time. At the time she had filed for divorce from her husband, he tore up a brand new cream in cream colored Bentley the studio gifted her ( and that car was heavenly ). He was chaetiing and just plain acting a fool.
She had that song for a few years before she sang it because she felt like she hadn't experienced that kind of pain. So obviously she felt it when she did this performance because this is even better than the soundtrack.
She worked the hell out of this song! I know how it feels. So I went there with her and I just heard this song a few weeks ago.

I have to correct what I said about Bobby tearing up the car. It got shot up while in his possession and it was the night his sister's finance was murdered because he was out doing his thing. And Allegedly they were being robbed. But it was his fault that car was destroyed along with a Porsche he did deliberately destroyed.
