- In May of 2003, actor and U.S. Marine R. Lee Ermy visited Tallil Air Base (now named Ali Air Base) in Iraq to tape an episode of A&E's Mail Call.
He ended his day by giving a morale speech to coalition troops stationed at the base during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. - Zábava
Who else here would feel absolutely honoured to be roasted by R. Lee Ermey.
Me
All of us
Absolutely would have been honored
It would be great
Right here
I was standing out in that crowd watching him. Gunny was awesome he was the only celebrity I saw during my tour in Iraq. RIP Gunny!!
Hey Spaz, did you see Larry in the video at 3:40? Melanson “Bear”
*R Lee Ermey shows up*
Morale increased by 10000%
Gunny was the real deal. He's upstairs now, whipping them into shape.
Absolutely Goddamned RIGHT!
The Lords Senior Drill Sgt
Those angels are going to be something when they march towards Satan's demons.
He's giving Heaven an army!
R Lee Ermy is one of only two men who i will listen to willingly insult me for all eternity.
the other being Clancy Brown.
I might throw Jack Nicholson in there. He did chew juicy bits up for "A Few Good Men".
Cretinous Jester he might actually kill me though. Lol
Now he is at semper fi with Jesus and Saint Peter
Because of mr krabs or because of lt anderson?
@@christiandinero8083 Because of Captain Hadley and GSGT Zim.
This speech was inspiring! Still is.
Hoo-friggin'-rah it still is. It's one thing for a country's civilians to be at odds about warfare. THEY SHOULD BE. But when the executive decisions are made, it's HIGH TIME to get behind the men and women who are laying it down. Right or wrong. Day or night. Foreign or domestic.
🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨
I missed him by one day! My unit arrived on Tallil June 1 2003!.
No more Gunny after 74 years in close combat and on the big and small screens... bad news for movie goers, television viewers and military teammates!
brucecap ooh that must have been a bummer.
brucecap Thank you for your service.
The hardest sob to ever live....thank you for your service gunny. Marines live on forever.
no he's dead. RIP the badass@@blocksarefun1
@@kershaw117 my comment was cringe, sorry 🥺
This man can inspire any man to go to war. Sad we lost him
Y die for a war not dying 4.
I think "Rest in Peace" is not the wish, he would have liked.
God bless the gunny ! ! and God bless America
He was the true definition of a role model that's for sure.
Gunny sadly, Died a week ago RIP gunny you are remembered
Nooo this man was too good :(

@@paladinheadquarters7776 I hate pneumonia. That's what took my grandmother. She had double pneumonia in her lungs.
@@eharper7 yeah it’s terrible. My condolences to you and your family, I’m sorry to hear that.
I can't believe I just found this now. God Bless America, God Bless The Corp., and God Bless R Lee. Emry. R.I.P. "Gunney"
I'm seeing this 9 years late..RIP GUNNY SIR. You are an American icon and you sir will be forever missed ..
Things like this mean a lot for soldiers
Cute, he gives that intro to the air force aww lol. But hey, we're all family. Oorah
Yup. army is the oldest brother. Navy is the big (but not bright) 2d brother. Marines are the 3d and most feared and badass of the 4. and then we have the youngest. the air force. although not as mean ( but definitely more lean) as the other three. he's the smartest of the three. imagine a guy walks into a bar and starts bad mouthing their family. navy gives him a right hook. army kicks him in the gut. then navy and army grab the punks arms and Marines starts working on the guys gut. then they drag him out side to find Air force( who ran out at the start of the fight) with a truck, shovel, body bag and a smile says "so where are we hiding the body?" mess with one, you mess with all
My Dad was Navy, 1937, My Uncle was Army Aircorp, My brother joined the navy for my Dad, I joined the Airforce for my uncle. I was born 3 days after his death 1960. He earned many medals as a door gunner on a B17. I wanted to be a pilot.
Who else would we want up there in air? ;) They are the "Hell from the Heavens".
@@grrtacos71 you mean coast guard
The real Badass guy! Rest in peace, R Lee Ermey (1944-2018)
Rest in peace gunnery sergeant Hartman you will truly be missed
The guys amazing and alot will look and say hes a great actor. But wrong hes a Vietnam and Korean war vet and marine first acting is second. And hes got more balls then most men you would ever meet.
R. Lee Ermey wasn't a Korean war vet! He served from 61-72
I love this great American
Such a brilliant man with an intense and vibrant character.
master Sgt. was secretly geeking out, I guarantee it
Around this same period, he filmed an episode of Mail Call in northern Kuwait at our firm base and I got to meet him for the first time there (met him on two other occasions in Quantico). It was a windy but clear day, not as much sand in the air as this. He was really cussing out the weather. We all were. Like standing in front of a blast furnace with a fan in front of it with someone throwing sand through the fan's blades into your face.
RIP GUNNEY give the soldiers in heaven some life with your great attitude
He is totally right...I'm peruvian and as a kid i watched Mail Call since the beggining...USA and the free world is free because they have the guts to defend their freedom at any cost, what I'm seeing in Venezuela and other south american countries is fear and submission to the Maduro regime, if only our leaders had the balls to defend our democracy using legitimate force then Latín América would be a first world sub continent...rest in peace, Gunny!
Well said! Prayers and love to you and your nation.
@@lukefrey491 thanks !
Rest in Peace Marine Floating Seas and Fair Winds

God bless you Gunny. I really wanted to see you during your visit to Iraq but I had to pull prisoner duty in Saddam City. I guess the great lord had to bring home a hard nose DI to keep the military guys in heaven on their toes. May you rest in peace Gunny! SCOUTS OUT!

I am from the Philippines and I didn't know that he married a Filipina. I enjoyed the movies where he played a role growing up but I never knew who he was. Rest in Peace sir!!! God Bless you and your family!!!
" I AM HARD BUT I AM FAIR " 🙏🏻🇺🇸😇
I was stationed at Tallil for a year-I got there the day after Gunny was there.
Did you get the chance to meet him?
@@RocketmanRockyMatrix No unfortunately. I wish I could have but we had just gotten there. I didn't know he was there for awhile.
I didn't know they made another Full metal jacket movie
RIP gunney
Brings a tear to me eye!!
Just can't imagine if R. Lee Ermey and George Carlin had a debate in form of stand-up comedy.
That would be the greatest thing ever to be there
The one man that made the Corps proud in the filmography.
RIP, gunny!
Oh modern version of full metal jacket
God bless you gunny!!!
Hoorah!!!!!!
Still to this day, part of me can't accept he's gone even though I know he is
He is the best there is.
Damn, I had just hit my two years in the Marine Coprs. Semper Fi. Time has passed by so fast. God bless The United States of America and my brothers and sister that took that step into Chaos!
I remember wearing those dcu uniforms when I deployed back in 2005 doing support operations.
Thank you for your service, sacrifice, and dedication in "fighting the good fight", the fight in keeping America and us Americans safe n secure. Ultimately affording us regular folk the freedom to peacefully wake up in the morning to the sounds like that of birds or maybe even just the sounds of our children getting ready for school.
The sound of peace...
The complete opposite of the enviroments so many of our troops have had to wake up to and endure are still volunteering to wake up to,,,, the sounds of gunfire, along with the sometimes very noticable delay between 2 distinctly different sounds, the sound of the gunfire versus the little bit of sound the bullet makes when striking and/or ricocheting off the walls they're suppose to count on to protect them when they lay their head down at night.
The sound of 'hell'...
Oh! I mean 'war'.....
Ain't war hell.
Every one of these airmen immediately called their congressman
R.I.P gunny and thank you for your service 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
God bless America 💖
He’s the best!!!!!
I'm in this video...Fucking Awesome

Love the "do you maggots understand ? bullshit I cant hear you" and how the crowd takes it.

Sir yes sir
Someone have a transcript of this? I know if I share it people wont watch it or understand, but the words... That's what people might start to be able to understand.
It’s you John Wayne? It’s me?
God damn.. he got the airforce to say hoorah. That's moto right there. Lol
R.I.P. to a fucking legend.
Nice.
It's pretty obvious that some of the soldiers haven't seen Full metal jacket while most have.
If we kept as Marines Heaven packed with fresh Souls then our enemies that we kill to keep Heaven packed with fresh Souls must all be good people if they went to heaven doesn't seem right to me it would seem like we would pack hell full of fresh Souls
