My hometown lost a Marine over the weekend of August 6th. Sgt Adan Gonzales of Bakersfield was killed during a combat operation near the town of Sangin, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Thank you Sgt Gonzales for your sacrifice. Thank you Gonzales family for yours as well. God Speed!

this guy was my first platoon sgt when i got to 3/8, after i introduced myself, he took me outside to smoke a cigarette, asked me if i drank coffe, asked me if i drank redbull, asked me about my knowledge of the marine corps, and then told me my job was going to be point man in iraq. i think i left that conversation with a boner.
My first TI (AF) in Basic had this same type of motivational speaking. Using history to effectively motivate a troop is an amazing thing. Gives me goosebumps.

I was actually told infantry was filled up so I applied for combat support and combat engineer, combat engineer was full so I got combat support, after I got combat support someone else applied for it, and was told by the recruiter a week later that no more combat jobs were available, now that says alot to me about the Marines, that says alot to me about the civilians who had the balls to step up and say, hey, I wanna be a U.S Marine in the fight, so give me my EGA and rifle, they got them at PI
