Gibraltar Plane Spotting | September 2021

The last of my three videos from Gibraltar is a general plane spotting one. The footage is taken over two days from on top of the rock, by the roadside and from the airport; giving many different views of the aircraft on arrival and departure.
I think I’ve decided that Gibraltar is the best airport I’ve ever been to for spotting!
Firstly, the landscape and scenary is absolutely stunning. Whether you’re on top of the rock looking down at the runway beneath you, or at the departures lounge in the airport looking up at the rock in front of you, each angle is truly spectacular.
Secondly, the lighting is perfect. With Mediterranean weather, the sun is out for most of the year, and if you’re south of the runway, the sun is behind you all day making the lightning perfect!
Thirdly, sometimes you’ll be joined by some of the little locals as seen in this video. (Just make sure you’re holding on to your camera or you might not see it again!)
Gibraltar is also known to be one of the most dangerous airports in Europe. Not because of the runway length, or the fact that the main road to and from Spain runs through it, but because the abnormal shape of the rock effects the wind and turbulence. Pilots must have a special qualification to be able to land there.

My son booked us on a day trip to Gibraltar with British airways a few years ago I can remember looking out of the window at the runway thinking it is not long enough it look like an aircraft carrier we had a great day apart from having a argument with one of the the apes over a bar of Chocolate I was eating my son came to the rescue a threw some of is can of coke at it which sent it running off
