- Today we’re going to look at the Xiaomi Photo Printer. It’s here! Is it really as cool as I thought and hoped it would be?

The Xiaomi photo printer is a pretty compact printer with WiFi and Bluetooth. The printer can be installed using Xiaomi’s Mi Home APP from which you can wirelessly print. From the APP you can make small ciolor adjustments and cropping adjustments to the photos you print and chose to print those in the 3:2-format or 1:1. Additionally you can also select to print passport and document photos for which it also includes pretty detailed guidelines.
The printer can print 6” photos (15 x 10 cm) which is a pretty standard photo size. It prints four layers with each layer adding a color and the last layer adding a protective coating which prevents photos from coloration by sunlight, fingerprints and even protects it from water.
You can also chose to print photos from your tablet, notebook or desktop computer as the printer gets installed as a wireless printer when set-up. I personally preferred printing them through the Mi Home APP as I found that to give me the most accurate indication of the crop and how the photos would come out.
When it got announced I was quite excited to see this one, and as it turns out: I am quite happy with it. The photos come out quite nice and its coating seems to work really well.
You can buy photo-packs which contain 2 x 20 photo paper sheets and an ink-cartridge that can print up to 40 photos. These refills are available for a really good price (which comes down to about 8 USD for a refill-pack in China…) which is a pretty good deal considering most printers nowadays are actually cheaper than their ink cartridges. The main downside, I found, is that there is no cartridge or photo paper included with the printer. You have to be aware of this when you decide to buy one and you’ll have to order these along with the printer to avoid disappointments after unpacking it.

As others have mentioned, this is one time Xiaomi does not impress, as its a copy of Canon's Selphy line of printers that have many more features and at least here in the states will be a lot easier to get your hands on.

I bought an fujifilm instax share sp2. It is a disaster that I have to buy this. Fujifilm doesnt let you to resize the picture... The color is not even right, the film is overprice. This is the best thing that I ever bought!!! For tho who complains ab can't install the app, do as this video said, change local to China! it's still english lang tho. Cheers!

It was stated in the description that this works for sublimation printing? So basically I don't need an inkjet printer or sublimation papers? I just need this and a heat transfer machine for the process?
No, with this printer you can only print photos 4x6, that's it

Did you have any issue with initial pairing and printing. I have 2 attempt to pair the printer with no success. But the 3rd try I got it done. But I still cannot print the photo. After I select My photo it then start to uploading which takes forever to finish. And then transmission error shows up.

The cartridge can print 40 photos, which is exactly the amount of sheets in the pack. I guess, somehow, it kinda makes sense but I see your point as well. I did not expect this either but the math should work out

They are different. HP Sprocket is a zink printer and this is a dye sublimation printer.
I think the photo paper in xiaomi is cheaper.

Well, 1080P it is. -Seeing most of my project files already exceed 100Gig per video I am sticking with HD for a little while longer.
So far I have done about 3 -4K videos- here on the channel, but that adds up to being 300 gig+ worth of footage per video. I really do want to do 4K somewhere in the future, but these videos should first actually start making me some money before I am going to invest even more than I already have. (Which, frankly, is A LOT)
@@xiaomify I totally get why it's not reasonable for you to switch to 4k :D however since I got myself a 1440p monitor a few weeks back I've been writing exactly the same as here under every video I watched (why not "2k? thanks", 4k is probably easier to get a camera for. In your case however it might be the right thing to ask for ^^)

way too expensive and comes without ink - paper? no. we have to also consider warranty. good luck if something happens and you need to send it back or find refill packs when you actually need them.
@xiaomify, is there anyway we could have a poll about upcoming videos? choose the content?
we all love your videos and truthfully you are by far the best youtuber when it comes to xiaomi but some products are of much less interest in comparison with others. if we could vote, you wouldn't lose time and effort with these products (like Rubik's cube) and you could focus more on what we want to see (which results in more views). for example... i would love to see a video about Xiaomi's doorbell.

I have too many videos in the making to do polls right now (filmed over 25 unboxings recently) and I have 5 videos in progress.
The doorbell camera (both the one with speaker and the "Looock" CatY are in there as well but these take A LOT more time to install than I imagined.
Also, I need to find a place to install these as I can not install these on my front door. The door downstairs is shared, and my front door looks in my neighbors home, and the CatY needs drilling and a lot of work to be installed (unfortunately it's really quite complicated)
Frankly, to be honest, I thought the printer was one of the most interesting products I have unboxed in a very long time and seeing it is constantly sold out (like the very second a new batch comes out they're almost instantly sold out) I thought this to be a very popular product. I have been looking forward to getting this one for weeks and prioritized it over all other videos. -So I'm kinda disappointed to see it get so little views actually.
I am not sure what you mean with the Aqara relay? -It is not being sold to consumers and, in China, it's only being sold B2B.
I also thought the Rubiks cube was going to be an interesting one, it looks cool, is cheap, etc...
Maybe in the future I will do polls about which ones I'll prioritize, but with the puzzle pieces coming together and organizing that, and having bought over 25 new products I still have tonnes of work ahead of me in the very near future. I know most requested are the smart trashcan, the doorbell and the new earphones. These are all in the making ;)
@@daniels.1120 I actually buy 99% of the products as most of the Xiaomi-related brands don't sell outside of China so I am not interesting to them (at all... it seems)
Warranty indeed is quite the issue when buying outside of China, which I think is one of the reasons I don't get much support from Xiaomi for my videos as they don't really want them to be sold outside of China yet

180 eur euro in Gearbest??? This is a joke, right? Canon has much better options, even with LCD and card reader, much less expensive than this!!! Besides, this seems a rebranding from the very old Canon Selphy CP520, wich was descontinued by Canon ... years ago...

Gearbest(and all the link below) is not the official dealer of xiaomi, so they will add some price when the printer is not entering the Europe market. You can just wait for xiaomi bring this to Europe or let a chinese friend buy it for you in just 499 rmb（about 65 eur）
@@chrischen3115 It is in this moment at US$137.69 ant Banggood. I thionk it is too expensive for what it offers. Canon Selsphy line has more features, inclusing e LCD screen, for about the same price. There is no much space to evolution with this kind of technology, but make a printer that is almost the same that a Canon's model from years ago... Xiaomi could do better.
@@eugeniobritofotografia I searched "Canon Selsphy" in Taobao, it's bout 800-1000 rmb in China, which is twice the price of mi printer. The fact that mi printer is too expensive in Europe is really not xiaomi's fault because the printer is sold just in Chinese market now and it cheap enough in china. I think oneday when xiaomi bring this printer to Europe officially or it is easier to ship this to Eu, the price will be cheaper and cheaper until it reaches the initial price of itself.
@@chrischen3115 I agree with you. Despite that, design is still very similar to other brand's product... Hope that in the future Xiaomi can bring this product to Europe (but here Canon sold very well the Selphy product). Maybe Xiaomi could do something to get this product better. Perhaps decreasing the print time... I know that Selphy takes about 45 to 50 seconds to print a 4x6" photo (i had 2 of those, myself). Decreasing that time would be fantastic for use in a Photobooth, for example... Let's see... :)

it just chose a mature technology and make a product which is easier to use and much cheaper(at least in China now).
anyway, the technology of printer has a long history and i think it has no much space to evolution, right?

I can't have much influence on the price they're being sold for outside of China. I just report on what Xiaomi is doing here, and add the links because people always keep on asking where these are being sold. - I will try to get more coupons from the resellers though, as they have given me some really great deals in the past.

availability is so bad and it costs more than for example canon selphy cp1300 and twice as much as in china i believe. shame.
The printer good for 100+ euros..... So it's not a smart buy. I can get a regular printer with more features for that money.... Really sad to see Xiaomi being so expensive....
In China, the printer is priced a lot better to be honest.. 499 RMB is kinda OK and the rather affordable refills (about 40 cents per photo) make it more interesting here.
