  • democracynow.org - Former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone, who was arrested on Friday, and Donald Trump share a unique history: Both were heavily influenced by the infamous attorney Roy Cohn, who served as a chief counsel to Senator Joseph McCarthy during the Red Scare in the 1950s and would later become a leading mob attorney. Cohn represented Trump for years and once claimed he considered Trump to be his best friend. Cohn is the subject of a new documentary at the Sundance Film Festival titled “Where’s My Roy Cohn?” We speak to the film’s director, Matt Tyrnauer.

@@queenslander954 I heard it was James Woods. What a disgusting mess. He was Trumps best friend? A mob lawyer and former imagined communist prosecutor.
I believe that this is where Trumps ability to lie was magnified. The constant need to proclaim victory, contradictory to reality and ethics. He lost so many cases. Never admitting defeat. As a slumlord Trump had over 2,900 cases involving racial discrimination, systemic unsafe housing issues, and everything else that might pertain to being a slumlord.

Cannot overemphasize how impressive Matt Tyrnauer’s commentary on his film in this clip was. He speaks like a writer. A GOOD writer. Unhesitatingly, thoughtfully, and accessing a range of vocabulary that not only expresses his own mind, but the depth of his analysis of the subject at hand. Not a bad voice either. I’ll be keeping an eye out and searching for more Matt. Of course, have had and will always have ultimate respect and warm newsy feelings for Amy Goodman!

While it would be odd that a communist newspaper would even care that McCarthy was destroying the reputations of folks who were not communists, it is not surprising that the Daily Worker would hate a U.S. senator who exhibited amazing energy and zeal in fighting communist infiltration of the U.S. government. What it is more puzzling, and even disgraceful, is the darts and arrows cast at McCarthy by non-communists and even conservatives, who should know better.

Calling Roy Cohn a "handmaiden" is an insult to handmaidens. Also, I think you should say "self-proclaimed dirty trickster Roger Stone",
to be perfectly clear he admits proudly to be.

“ -where Anita Hill’s trial, hearing took place...”
I love hearing people misspeak when they do so in ways that belie the truth.
Because it was as if Anita Hill were being put on trial.
Whose witness was she? The Democrats’ witness. Who was in charge of the proceedings.
