This is the ONLY correct video I could find!!! I graduated in 89 and lived in these!!! All these young girls trying to do this while standing up using one hand… 😂 I just yell at those videos “flip your hair over! It’s way faster and easier!!!!!” So glad these are back in style so they’re easier to find!! ❤️ Good job on this vid!
Haha thank you!!!! It drives me crazy too! I think part of the reason why so many people struggle with keeping it in is that they are putting it in wrong! Long live the banana clip! 😆😆❤️❤️ Thank you for watching!
I use them and I live when my hair is curly as well. I think they look better than putting your hair in a regular pony and I feel like it’s less damaging
Omg you have so good hair girl! You're the only one that used the banana clip correctly! I been watching many videos and the person didn't do it proper. Btw I love yr hair❤
They came on market in 1987, when curly hair was popular and are amazing for growing out short layered curls into long cascading curls (eg Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman). Turn your hair upside down, then gather the back hair up in the clip, snap shut, then arrange the curly ponytail with your fingers. Looks extra pretty with a few loose hair tendrils around face. My friend grew out her meh short brunette curls into Andy McDowell like long ringlets in one year, wearing a banana clip for 12 months (including one Christmas trim to suit growing out her curls). She looked stunning and every guy loved her.
I have curly hair & had to use my old lemon coloured banana clip from mid 80's for almost a decade before I saw them in shops again. Finally I got my trusty old brown one which is as now as old as the first. Hair products have faded the claws but you don't see them anyway. But on the look out for a thin edged one that clips in hard as these work best for me. The thicker edged clips with ends that wrap around each other can open easily if hair is thick. Banana clips look great, give volume and take no time to put in. Love them!
Thank you!!!! I always saw these on my moms vanity but never wore them as a kid! People have said they have a good hold for when youre working out so i bought a few to try. Definitely needed a little tutorial, I dont trust these gen zs showing me lol
It does seem to slide a bit. I ideally will take my hair and kind of pull it a little bit and adjust it the best I can to secure and tighten it more! Thank you for watching!
Back in the day, I always had to put it in a loose pony with a scrunchie, put the banana clip in, fasten, then pull out the scrunchie. That was the only way I could get it to work for me. The flip never worked. Can’t wait to bring this style back!
I think they have started making bigger clips to help with thicker hair. I do understand that struggle. I know some peoples hair is just too much for the clip. 🥺
Please please share if your have worn or wear the banana clips even now!

Banana clips were so great in the 80s with our perms!!! Loved the look.

Love banana clips! Thanks 😊
Brilliant video thanks, could you do one on how to wear a messy bun hair piece that’s attached to a claw clip please
Mine always starts off great but how do you keep it from sliding out?
It does seem to slide a bit. I ideally will take my hair and kind of pull it a little bit and adjust it the best I can to secure and tighten it more! Thank you for watching!
I tried doing the hair flip to get the banana clip fastened, but my hair is very long so I can't get it all gathered in.
Think I'm going to flip, get someone to hold it together. Might work.
Flip was easier with shorter hair

Hii how can I do this with long hair? Cause I can’t gather all my hair in the clip 😔
I think they have started making bigger clips to help with thicker hair. I do understand that struggle. I know some peoples hair is just too much for the clip. 🥺
Do you know where I can get the 2 piece banana clip?
