fun fact: this song is made during the period surrounding the first direct election in Indonesia after we had gone through 2 different dictatorship, Iwan was basically voicing what all of indonesia has in their minds which is the hope for the new guy in charge to just be different from their predecessors to the point that the people just expect such simple things as lower prices, jobs, and fairness which in exchange the people are willing to basically revere the new guy as a demigod if he does fullfill their simple wish

Uncle, I am so happy that you found this legendary Indonesian singer. He became known to the Indonesian people in the 90s when the government in Indonesia was under the confines of a dictatorship. And then the Reform era was born with new presidents. He criticized the government with songs and it moved society's consciousness to speak out more.
BTW, sorry to say Uncle, I don't mean to criticize the US in a broad sense, but rather the economic culture that is adopted and that is spread throughout the world, namely spreading the ideology of capitalism in managing the economy. Like Uncle said, there are no more Middle Class that is a consequence of implementing a capitalist economy in full without adjustment. The rich will get richer and the poor will become poorer and those in the middle will not be able to move up to the top class due to trends, prestige and consumerism embedded in the capitalist system causing them to actually fall to the bottom because of a lifestyle that is not in line with their income.
Indonesia was also dragged into that understanding, even though we in the early 50s until late 60s took the path of being close to the USSR as well as a big country in the world at that time and absorbed what was good from their state system and the understanding of socialism, because at one time there was none of the economic systems adopted will always match the developments for all the times.
Therefore, in our country's constitution we take a balance point between capitalism and socialism outside of imitating the relevant country's ideology as stated in our Constitution, but the US sees it as a threat that the influence of communism will spread strongly making this country become communist, that is one of the reasons The first president was ousted from power due to US interference. That cannot be denied because C1A has already opened it to the public.
We stand for good things because we have a basic principle in the constitution to always act as a counterbalance to world powers (non-aligned countries) which are full of the interests of each country. Now Indonesia still adheres to this principle and applies capitalism wrapped in socialism to develop this country abroad. Thats why our country is friendly to all people of all other countries without any hatred and hostility. As people of Indonesia, we love American and all people of the world, exclude geopolitical policies that may not have a good impact on other countries/the world.
