- Carburetor equipped vehicles have been around for ages. Its simple framework means a carb is easier and more cost effective to manufacture and maintain. Hence, it has been the ideal fuel delivery system for engines since the late 1800s.

The primary job of a carburetor is to mix air and fuel in a certain ratio and deliver it to the combustion chamber (or cylinder). A carburetor works by intercepting the flow of air to your motorcycle’s cylinder. Basically, after the piston compresses it creates a low-pressure vacuum which pulls in the air-fuel mixture through a tube in the carburetor. This “tube” is designed to become narrower towards the end which in turn increases the pressure of the air flowing through it. The low pressure also forces fuel to be pulled in from a tiny reservoir in the carburetor which then mixes with the air flow, thus creating an air-fuel concoction that burns in the cylinder. This phenomenon is called the Vacuum Venturi Effect.
On the downside, a carburetor is purely mechanical and doesn't rely on an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to monitor and tweak the system. In fact, the air-fuel mixture in a carburettor is constant and can only be tweaked or altered by physical adjustments to the carburetor jets. Moreover, a carburettor cannot understand and change the air-fuel mixture according to a particular situation. For example, you would notice a drastic drop in power if you were to climb high altitudes with the bike where the air is thin. At those heights, the engine requires more oxygen for combustion which isn’t supplied by the carb, resulting in a drop in power. But as you head back to sea level, the system starts functioning normally again.
Carburetors are long-lasting and are made of lighter materials. Also, they do not require any electrical components for installation and are thus easier to install and maintain.
A fuel injection sprays calculated spurts of fuel directly into the combustion chamber. The fuel is forced through a small nozzle under pressure in the combustion chamber where it ignites and produces the power stroke. Basically, during combustion the piston compresses the air-fuel mixture in preparation for ignition which is know as a power stroke. Fuel injection systems are inherently more precise, as they mix air and fuel better and deliver them in finely atomised particles. The ECU along with multiple sensors calculate variables to constantly adjust the exact amount of air and fuel mixture required to be burned in the cylinder. This results in better fuel efficiency and swifter response from the engine.

Agree. मेरे पास Splendor (1999 Model) थी जिसकी एव्रेज 67 थी पर नई Splendor BS6 की एव्रेज केवल 60 के आसपास है । ये सब सेटिंग पर निर्भर करता है कि सेटिंग कैसी कि गई है । EFI गाड़ी की मैंटेनेंस ज्यादा है ।

Sir, till now I personally prefer carburettor motorbike. As I recently purchased a motorbike. Mainly all we get EFI bikes but fortunately I got a limited carburettor version. Bingo without second thought I bought it. As an old biker I know how with proper maintenance I could save my motorbike and environment. Thanks to you for sharing valuable informations. Yes I agree with your opinion.Throttel response is immediate in Carborater in acceleration and de acceleration.Where as in Fi.system the whole Engine management system works on sequence on various parameters of applied loads controlled by various sensors based on computer technology step by step to complete the process of from fuel intake to feeding in correct amount of air-fuel mixture in specific ratio through Injector in the correct timing and burnt by spark plug in the correct timing and throwing burnt gases through exhaust system to complete the whole process of combustion in its own time.The whole process take bit time of its own as compare to Carburetor engine resulting late response in acceleration and de acceleration.

इतना सा ध्यान नहीं रख सकते तो क्या ध्यान दोगे कंपनी ने 9-10 लीटर की टंकी दी है अगर 4-5 लीटर रख लेंगे तो खराब थोड़े हो जाएगा। मीटर में एक मानक सोच लो कि यहां पर सुई आते ही डलवा लेंगे और हर 5 km पर पेट्रोल पंप होता है।

Carbs have a distinct advantage.
One can tune it as per choice.
Based on need one can adjust lean or rich mixture & also RPM.
Injectors are self correcting...that is an advantage but maintainence in costly.

Cost and longeivity:- carb. Just need regular maintenance and service n tuning. If fault both r costly but fi will cost more(fuel pump with tank also has seprate cost.)

I prefer Carburettor version. That's why I didn't buy BS-6 FI Hero Xtreme 200s. Instead I bought 2nd hand Hero Xtreme 200r model 2018 BS-4 2 years back. Still running smooth ❤

@@gravity_armwrestler All BS-6 bikes have Fuel Injection, which means more Maintenance cost than BS-4 bikes. Carburettor version have less Maintenance. But we have to move with time as Govt. is planning to increase Ethanol in Petrol from present 12% to 20%. This means BS-4 bikes will not perform in long run. Only BS-6 Phase 2 bikes are compatible with E20 as company made several modifications on engine and sensors.

Aur fuel injection me ek bar hi 2l petrol rakhna padta h. ye nhi ki har din 2l petrol reserve me dalo. mileage bhi achha deta h FI. baki 100 logo ka bolena se ki hum bike nhi lenge kuch nhi hota. jisko bike lena h vo to lega hi chahe bs10 ku na aa jae. aur company bhut research krte h. bakuf log nhi bathe h vaha

Fuel injector set up is only highly successful if imported components is used means the actuators and sensors without imported components a FI setup is having a low reliability. And a consumers must be ready to pay more so that companies can gain confidence in producing product with those components.

Bhai aajkal petrol engine bikes mein bhi fuel injector system aa raha hai??
Now I am using FI type bike HONDA SP125. It's milage 65-70km/ litre petrol. Previously used Honda Shine (2009model), which had maximum 50-52 km/ litre. Now cost of petrol is 93rs/ litre. So, fuel injection model is better. Cost of SP125 is rs 5000 more than Honda Shine. Just use 3 litre petrol as fixed deposit. Add every time 50 rs petrol when required.
No fuel injection system is bad 1 ur petrol gets dried up when u dont drive for long time 2 when you drive for longer distance you cannot accurately know how much petrol your bike needs 3 you cannot keep your bike standing on left stand 4 fuel injection is expensive 4 fuel injection is complicated
