- Streets of Rage 3 is a side-scrolling beat 'em up developed and published by Sega in 1994 for the Sega Genesis. It is the third installment of the Streets of Rage series and the last game in the original trilogy. It was later released for the Japanese version of Sonic Gems Collection for the Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2, and for the Wii Virtual Console in September 2007. The game also appeared in Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game also appeared in Sega Genesis Classics for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

This is one of the greatest Sega games ever. I loved being Shiva and Roo.

@@alfydarkdeadly the music's definitely not as catchy as sor2. didn't enjoy playing sor3 as a kid, but want to give it another shot as an adult with broader musical tastes.
@@romulus_ Play the Japanese version Bareknuckle 3 it's far better than SOR3. Although Streets of Rage 2 is still the best.

Streets Of Rage was one of the best side scrolling adventure-fighters ever made! Final Fight, Golden🪓Axe🪓, and some others were all good games but Streets Of Rage was the #1 for me anyways. The third SoR I had bought, but I didn't play it too much? 😕 So I am really looking forward to watching this! Thanks a lot!

@@chrissiXD123 after defeating all the enemies in that room, move to the top of the screen and attack the wall. It will take you to a room with treasure, health and IIRC a 1up. It might require a special attack.
Streets of Rage 3 ive always found to be the weirdest, if not the black sheep entry of the series. Its one of those games I don't really hear about when people talk about SoR, it's mostly the second and fourth game people seem to remember fondly the most. I guess SOR1 is like that in some sense.
Totally agree with this comment. The SoR series were my go-to games of the early nineties, and I absolutely lost my mind when SoR 3 was released in Spring 1994. I was rather disappointed though when I finally got to play it, as I felt it lacked the game play and spirit of the first two... not to mention it is almost impossible to complete the game fully playing as any of the 4 characters. I was only able to defeat the final flying robot boss using Shiva - as he is super powerful and lighting fast. He could be accessed by holding down button B upon defeat at the end of level 1, and was selectable upon going on continue. There is no way I would have been able to defeat this boss using Axel or Blaze, as you are literally given only 2 minutes to defeat the robot before the bomb goes off and destroys the city - there is a big timer across the screen for the whole time just to add pressure! Sega really took a different route with SoR 3, which in my eyes spoilt what could have been a brilliant send off on a fantastic game trilogy.

by the way, does anyone know if there is a bug or error that force Shiva to jump out of his boat at somewhere around 8:04 to fight you? I remember when I was a kid around 3 years old. I remember my dad I played this game on Mega Drive back in 1998 or 1999 or around those year. I remember that there was one time the game have an error in which Shiva frozen up after his armies jump out of boat but Shiva still not moving his boat. because of that unknown error my dad couldn't proceed with the main story and was force to reset the game. and at some point I saw Shiva jump out of the boat at the end I dad was so rage quit because he couldn't beat the boss.
Edited: Oh right, so it wasn't the bug. Western version and Japanese version is different. back in those time when I was a kid. My dad played on JP version in which the boss will jump out of the boat and fight you but in western version Shiva will not jump out of the boat. I was looking all these time and I was like "this isn't the game I'm looking for" Shiva support to jump out of the boat and fight you.
correction: in japanese version Shiva is not the boss that jump out of the boat.
I also have a bigger cousin in which he have the western version. my cousin was so confuse when I said to him that why the boss is not jumping out of the boat to fight. and he was like "no"
Yeah, there were many differences between western and Japanese releases! I don't remember if I ever finished SOR3 with my brother. It's harder than BK3.
Doesn't this one have Mania mode? Is the hardest difficulty different in the Japanese version? Bare Knuckle 3?
I believe Mania mode is Japan-only, but SOR3 (the Western version) is generally harder and has censored and changed content.
There is no mania, but there is 1st april prototype version which is hardest version of sor 3. U can watch King_IOpa or finalcrashsor3 beat it without death

There's an Android version of Streets of Rage 4.
But you can emulate the others on your phone. I recommend using a gamepad.
I always played Bare Knuckle 3 but SOR3 is good even so ripped off.

Yes, it's actually harder and it has censored/modified content. Most people prefer Bare Knuckle 3 nowadays.

If I'm not mistaken, it's only available in the hardest mode.
@@1uplongplaysCity hall stage should be available ONLY when you could not save the hostage in 1:22:16. If you have saved him, then the following stages would become the robot factory. (Good Ending if defeating the robot in time)

“Yaaaaaah”. Why ALL the enemies dying scream sound like we shoved a Carolina reaper in their throats? So many improvements from SoR2 but they did THIS. SoR3 had all the potential to be better than 2 but this and the uninspired music (at least compared to the previous games) just killed it.
I think the gameplay is ok and the music an acquired taste (don't think I ever hated it entirely and if you get into some electronic music styles, you'll end up loving it after a while). Some pieces were randomised via software and the soundtrack is the most original and avant-garde compared to the other ones, which were inspired by house, techno and other genre classics. Certain tracks are very similar to "real songs" (non-video game). I think it's supposed to be an homage to them.
Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima did a great job.
I don't know why, but this third game seems like a downgrade from the second. Streets of rage 2 brought a lot of graphic and sound quality and this III seems to have made things a little worse. songs with questionable quality, changing an excellent character like Max for this Dr. Zan, linear game without camera movements like in the second game, which gave the impression of going up and down streets, content censorship... anyway The only things I consider positive about this game are the faster control allowing you to roll/run, the star reward system and the return of alternative endings.
