the world honestly needs more park railways
the Bavarian government is just terrible
4K quality please.
@@ncard00 I will make sure to write my comment in 4K next time
whatfor?
1. There's a tram line alongside the south-east of the park
2. A total 3 subway lines half-way up on the western side of the park, and while 2 lines split off the 3rd line continues to go parallel west of the park,
3. Another tram line terminates west of the park
4 several bus lines cross the park on existing roads already. Why would it take another tram to cross the park?
@@EnjoyFirefighting several bus lines are a great argument FOR a tram due to lower noise and air pollution caused by trams that would benefit nature and people in the park
this includes the potential of stops directly inside the park, which all these oh so great bus lines don‘t actually have…
@@entized5671 no, they aren't a great argument for a tram. On the proposed tram line there are only 5 bus lines (2 metro bus lines, 1 city bus line, 2 night bus lines) which primarily serve streets which don't have any tram lines. Apart from that there's a good chance they're using electric buses on these lines already.
2 more bus lines cross the park 1 km north of the proposed tram line. These 2 bus lines run on the Middle Ring Road, which is the most important road serving Munich.
Again 4 more bus lines cross the park on the very next possible road another 3.5 km further north, 4.5 km from the proposed bus line. This time on the Föhring Ring Road. That's pretty much at the end of the English Garden, only minor parts extend beyond that point and it's not of major importance for residents up there
" includes the potential of stops directly inside the park, which all thes oh so great bus lines don‘t actually have…" utter bs that statement right there. There are bus stops both at the edge of the park, as well as right in the park. The tram would have the very same stop
Happy birthday, buddy! I wish you lots of success and many joyful returns.
Thanks a lot!
In case you were wondering, the reason it stops in Rancho Cucamonga is because it is simply cheaper to do so I believe, but they are in the future planning on bringing it directly to LA, just not right now
Oh wow, those refurbished Cologne S-Bahn trains look better than some brand new carriages actually!
1:56 -- reason for terminating at Rancho Cucamonga and not go all the way to LA Union station: capacity. LA Metrolink doesn't have the additional capacity to support an express run of the Brightline West along its San Bernardino Line tracks since the last 10 miles are single tracked in the median of the 10 freeway. I feel they could've added some additional trackage towards the south, stop at Ontario Airport, then jump on the Riverside Line tracks and take those to Union Station, codesharing as a Metrolink shortline along the way. Eventually this should be solved once the California High Speed figures out the route between LA and San Diego but that's way off in the future. Until then, Metrolink will need to double track the 10 Fwy segment and add capacity somehow.
I like them too :)
That's not the reason. It's because they don't want to invest the money required to get to LA Union station.
The plan was to use the publicly built and paid for CAHSR line to Unions Station with a connection through Palamida to the CAHSR tracks but with the delays and costs it won't be in the foreseen future so they opted for Rancho Cucamonga as it's on their i15 route and is served by the Bernardino Line that can connect passengers to Union Station in LA, a connection that adds 1h15-1h20 to the journey. For the same reason they chose to follow the i15 route without any terrain adaptations, with a single track making a trip that with a true HSR wold have taken an hour into, at least, 2h10 minutes journey + 75-85 minutes for the local train + transfer time to get to the center of LA.
Hopefully Brightline can pressure them to double track and electrify czcams.com/video/zOoekV6Cy8Q/video.htmlsi=4hG1geayzSkNqf1I&t=520
Happy Birthday 🎉! Thanks for covering the news about Dresden! I hope that converting car lanes to bike lanes won't cause this much drama in the future, because the city already anounced another bike lane-test (there will also be one car lane remoced) on another bridge. I really admire the courage of the transportation mayor to stand up against the car oriented Dresden people (myself not included)😂
the "Grünen Irsinn stoppen" ("Stop the greens' madness") sign says it all, this was not about practicality but about carbrains feeling attacked because their privilege was put into question
Happy birthday, I’m always excited for these videos!
Thanks! Glad you like them!
The reason BLW can’t run to LA Union is the Metrolink corridor isn’t electrified and the freight railroad that owns it won’t let them do electrification. Class 1 freight railroads in the U.S. are strongly opposed to electrification because they are want to run double stack container cars.
Happy birthday! Thanks for the updates. Keep it up.
Pleased to see you covered the Kaisaniemi tunnel project accurately. Will certainly be there myself on the opening day! Plus happy birthday to you :)
Oh, nice! Ask a city mayor to make a comment for my channel, please :)
We are birthday buddies. Keep up the great work!
Wow, great! Happy birthday to you too!
Happy Birthday. I really enjoy watching your videos :)
Thank you so much!
Happy birthday!! Great video as always!
Thank you so much 😀
Brightline West is not the first HSR line in the US. The Acela has been running since 2000s with a 150 mph top speed and now upgrading to 160 mph with the new Alstom TGV-M trains. Plus, CAHSR has already completed construction on the first segment of true HSR in the Central Valley.
If anything, Brightline West is the third HSR line in the US and the Western Hemisphere in general.
To qualify being a HSR you'd need of 250 Km/h + (155 Mp/h). So it's not an actual HSR just yet
@@BLACKSTA361 The Acela is, like the vast majority of the HSR lines in Europe, a legacy mainline converted to high speed. The Acela stays at or above 125 mph for more than 50% of the route. That is literally exactly in accordance with the HSR standard. You need to either do 125 mph sustained on an upgraded legacy line or 155 mph on a new line. The Acela fits the first standard.
And you do understand that only three countries in Europe have 155+ mph HSR on new lines, right? If you don't want to classify the Acela type of HSR as HSR then only four countries in all of Europe have any kind of HSR. The UK has no HSR lines, and only Spain, France, Italy and Germany have any HSR lines at all. Similarly, more about 1/3rd of the Shinkansen lines are no longer HSR by your standard.
@@TohaBgood2 Fair enough then
If you think Rancho Cucamonga was too far, the original plans was the first station was in Victorville, which is another 45 miles out. Metrolink has a connecting line from Union Station near downtown Los Angeles. Eventually, Metrolink should electrify the segment to allow Brightline to continue towards Union Station.
Happy birthday! Thanks for making effort to do all these videos, they're very interesting to watch
Thanks! Nice to hear that!
You could have also meantioned the new Statbahn trains of Dortmund :)
Happy birthday!!! 🎈🎊🎈
Thanks!
Have you heard of the "Bahnprojekt Stuttgart-Ulm"? It's a giant construction project in Stuttgart, Germany. They have their own YT channel for updates, maybe keep an eye out if something big happens.
Is that railway station renovation? Yes, I know about it.
@cityforall Yes, it's not just the Stuttgart main station, it's an enormous project stretching many kilometers into all directions, with entirely new lines and stations.
I mainly wanted to mention the YT channel they have, where they announce big steps and such
Thanks, I'll look for it :)
@@cityforall it's more a re-arrangement of an entire city's rail network, along with interlaced projects like new rail service to the airport, new high-speed rail line to Ulm etc
Happy birthday man and your videos are really great. Keep doing the great work.
Thanks a lot!
Excellent channel 👏
🎉 Happy Birthday
Thanks! Welcome onboard!
Happy birthday!
Thanks!
Happy Birthday 🎂🎁🎈
Great video. I like the news but I also miss the other non news topics you've covered.
As for News - on May 21st (after very long delays) the new high speed train Talgo Avril will start serving on a few lines by renfe (Spain).
Thank you for your congratulations!
As for other topics for videos, they are coming. I am currently working on several in parallel.
The good thing about these news episodes is that they can be released regularly without spending too much time. Without them, the videos on my channel were too irregular.
Happy birthday!!!
Thanks!
Happy Birthday!! hope you can cover more Urban news across the world and unknown places such as UAE and Oman Railway
Thanks! I'll try :)
Der neue sbahn war glaube in Hannover da
hbd!🎉
tnx!
Nice that Helsinki is getting a bicycle tunnel. And the reason why Brightline West didn't go all rhe way to LA was cost and politics. NIMBYs are a big problem in California.
Happy birthday! 🎉🎉
Do you want footage and photos of the new transit extensions that will open in May and June in Paris? To illustrate the following videos.
Great video, as always!
I love that little Sunday rendez-vous with the transit news, it's becoming a staple of my week.
Of course, that will be great!
About the Sunday rendez-vous - that's the plan :)
@@cityforall Is there a contact somewhere so that I can give you the footage once it's filmed?
You can share it using this email - alexjoyce320 @ gmail. com
4:00 once again I think to myself: how about adding more space to the outside of the bridge so the bike lane is next to the pedestrians instead of squeezed in with the cars? I know I sure would prefer riding my bike with a real barrier between myself and the cars. Yes, that might mean the bridge needs a slight rebuild to support the added width & weight, but it'd be worth it IMO. Same goes for many other similar bridges.
I thought about it too, but most likely this bridge has the status of an architectural heritage and cannot be rebuilt just like that. At least not as part of a temporary experiment.
5:50 just dig some tunnel, c'mon...
I guess that's too expensive

Happy birthday!
