0:52 the main difference between e-bikes and e-scooters is that there've been more than a few cases of e-scooters catching fire.
This is probably, in my opinion, due to e-scooter owners tunning their vehicles to have more battery capacity, peak velocity, rgb lights, etc, which doesn't happen with e-bikes.
The solution, in my opinion, shouldn't be to ban them, but to educate the public on the risks of unsafely tunning e-scooters, and maybe regulating e-scooter shops or something like this.
But it seems that lots of places are going with banning then, like the Netherlands, Spain, the city of Paris and now Berlin too.
PD: thanks for adding the Balmes street one! :)
London’s Fire Brigade and FDNY have both tracked lots of fires started by electric bicycles. In the U.S. both U.L. listed battery powered bicycles and bicycles not built to any recognized safety standard are available. I’ve been following this, and asking everyone whether fires are predominantly unlisted units, or whether the standards makes little or no difference. As far as I can tell no one knows. From personal experience I can state it is difficult to get FF’s to make detailed reports.
Edit: It is a little tricky to ensure bike is designed to the UL standards. You can find UL on a cord or a charger, but that does not mean the bike itself is UL listed. Look for ANSI/UL/ULC (Canada) 2271 and 2849.
Scooters. Even worse. If it’s really inexpensive, it’s for a reason. It’s not because safety took first priority in design.
Or add chemical fire sprinklers and a tanker car to the tram trains.
Shucks, i guess Venezuela will have to make up for it in the next update video.
urban news here amount to a couple of refurbished trains from Caracas Metro that will supposedly enter service throughout the year
You might want to take a look at the new metro line being built in Brussels and the problems they're having...
worth mentioning that the new riverfront development in KC will also be connected to Downtown by an extension of the KC Streetcar !!
Lmao I wasn't expecting that you would put the Valencia thing, that's a nice touch
I really enjoyed your comment
@@cityforall I see 😅
1:40 it's so hilarious to listen co2 emissions as an argument to replace diesel buses with electrical. Emissions of public transport of typical USA city is like zero comparing to emissions of private cars!
Warsaw is soon going to open the new tram line on Gagarin street
Amtrak is adding a new train service called Borealis from Chicago to St. Paul, Minnesota. A lot of good news these week in transportation.
E Scooters are also banned in the public transit of Munich
And Hamburg's U-Bahn (maybe buses, not S-Bahn)
Hi, I really love your video style. Its like a news report. And I love it because its brief and straight to the point. Also gives us a grasp on how global this train revolution is.
What dou you mean - like? It's actually news report! :)

I'm afraid the most likely scenario is what has happened in similar projects in Bcn:
there are still virtually no restrictions for motorcycles in this city,
so the widened sidewalks won't be for pedestrians but mostly for parking 😅
Barcelona has a crazy problem with motorcycles. And the fact that every time they take out a car parking spot they put motorcycle parking in its place doesn't help...
Great video!
I guess that there's a slight difference between very crappy quality Chinese batteries on some e-scooters and the ones used on e-bikes and even a larger difference with the batteries of wheelchairs that must comply with EU standards.
By the way, how do I send the footage for a next video covering Paris extensions? I'm filming tomorrow and Tuesday.
Thanks!
There is an e-mail in channel details - you can use it to share your footage.
It's probably also the way they are brought to people. People buy electric bicycles for a lot of money and use them responsibly. E-scooters are rideshares that endure the elements 24/7 and are regularly abused by teens and other idiots.
If any one of them is prone to catching fire, it's the dinged-up, years old rideshare scooter and not the pristine new bicycle
@cityforall I'm sorry but I don't see it, there are other platforms' links but that's all.

Though I have a slight planning issue, as I explained in the mail. Is Friday OK for the footage?
I think the e-scooter ban is mostly due to the huge availability of cheap unsafe ones whereas e-bikes are usually made by respectable european manufacturers that keep with the standards (and afaik about three makes of battery share most of the market so there's much less cheap competition that tries to save on safety features)
So far only 5 stations out of 26 are in operation next year 2025 we should have the Central and Northen branch in function. Airport Branch should open in 2028.
