- How Analog Mixing Consoles Work - Using a Allen & Heath Console GL3800
At 6:00 minutes of this video. I had the line input button explained backwards. You leave the line button up for XLR inputs and down for line level inputs such as instruments in the 1/4 TRS connections in the back of that channel.
I bought an Allen & Heath GL3300 and it’s great to have this video as a reference. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
This is the best breakdown of a mixing console I’ve seen. Thank you. This even helps me with my Tascam Model 16. As you said, they all typically have similar layouts. Thank you.
I know a lot of this but you did a great job re explaining this. Salute
Wow thank you for that Video. I just bought a GSR-24M and going to set it up for hybridmixing. This video really helped me to understand the console better! Thanks so much
Wishing you much success for you and your Channel keep letting them know about analog
Yo bro great session and very informative...
Love to see a video from your Matrix to your I/O interface and how you play back from your DAW.
Very Educational
thank you for responding
You can kinda create a solo by using a group mute, make it mute all and just unmute what you want to hear
That's how I do it
I would like you to do a video on plugins on the inserts of the analog mixer. And if the plugins sound different on the analog mixer vs out from the sound card
Great information! Can you switch the direct outs to post fader? So, you can send the signal to your DAW with preamp, and EQ.
you can. some Allen and heaths , you have to do it by a jumper inside the consoles but some consoles its the matter of switching from pre to post by a button.
Great video, you have the right concept but your terms are all over the place.
Oh ok I’ll go rewatch the video thanks
what equipment do you have and maybe I can help you out as far as a setup
thank you :)
thanks!
Woo Woo This is video is one of the best i have ever watch, you have held nothing back many many thanks. which there was a way i could bless you. my Church has a GL4000 and we have quite a bit of outboard equipment but i am sure after watching this that there is so much that can be connected. is there anyway i can drop you an email? Again thanks very much. God Bless
thanks for watching. My email is shoshorty99@hotmail.com
Brother man we have the GL 2400 model Allen health at the church. Do u know how I able to do live stream Facebook from the mixer to get the quality sound out. Thanks.
Hey Mark I have a question if you have a mixing console and a audio interface and you take the monitor out puts from the mixing console and connect it to the audio interface inputs and connect a xlr mic to your mixing console and then connect your usb cable from your interface to your computer would you be able to record in to your DAW that way
yes. your DAW should see the input source as soon as you arm the track in the DAW.
Can you show how to hook up the mixing console to pro tools or any other daw how do you connect it
i can do a video on it.
i'm sorry, I had to think about your question. I was thinking about the audio interface outputs. The allen and heath console i own is the older fully analog console so it can not control DAWs I have to use my M Audio CTRL49 and my presonus faderport to control my daw. The console is just used to hear the tracks through my console.and used external outboard gear, Allen& Heath do sell a console known as the GS-R24M which can act as a analog console. USB and DAW Controller.
Ok it fine
i just bought one said has two power supplies so it said no power cables to run it. is it worth it and are the power cables expensive?
as far as the console. I have no complaints about the tone quality. Allen&Heath stop making this console years ago so i am not if you can call their tech line about getting another power cable. These consoles come with a RPS11 power supply so i don't know how you would acquire another cable other than maybe eBay.
I have an extra cable i can sell you. its for the gl300.
or we can sawp the cable for a power supply seens you have 2 and no cable.
@@claytonkingtv go to this guy he is the one selling the unit with the extra power supply

Hi Mark do you have a video we’re you show how all the out board gear is connected to your Mixng console
Yes. I did a video on patchbays. this video explains the basics of how gear would be connected to the console.
Hey mark Can you make a video about usb mixers
No problem I will post one tomorrow
So what is the 8 channel Behringer for?
I used to use it record into the audio interface and it was also my mixer input for blogging but I stop using it for that and now I use it for a small keyboard mixer setup.
@@marksmusicplace3627 Just thought it looked out of place with the Allen & Heath
Wowwww
Oh no I was just wondering because I want to be a producer when I graduate high school and I’m trying to learn how to use gear because I am more of a analog user and not used to digital
Oh ok I understand.
Let me ask you this, you wanna sell it?
for the right price, depends
00:01:20 that's a ' simple ' mixing console. Then show me what's sophisticated and intricate !!! Man, I'm scared of you 🤣😂
